Border edit works for me.
Ian.
Ian.
I'd definitely go with the smaller border - and I shouldn't be comenting on the border before the pic!!
It's a lovely take on the theme and you caught the light at just the right time. Excellent all round.
Jean
Chris, I like your edit too.
The colours are great, so vivid in the image. I think this would make a great print, as big as you could get. It wouldn't look out of place in a holiday brochure or magazine. All round there is a lot to like about your image, well done. Oh and as Sarah said, shame about the park image, that sounds as if that would have been a corker too.![]()
Very nice, particularly with the narrower border. Good framing and some lovely subtle colours as well as the bright pinks.
Lovely Chris, the colours are excellent and really peaceful. The narrower border works excellently.
Sorry Chris, but this does not work for me as I cannot see peace in this shot.
What It does portray to me is power and movement and I think this because of the contrails. The jet eflux is very powerful portraying great movement and fast movement, conveying people all over the globe to get their business done or to get to a holiday destination as quickly as possible. It seems that I have looked at your picture from a completely different angle than anyone else, there again if we were all the same how boring would the world be.

Week 17 Peace
Hot Cross Contrails
mmmm that looks good enough to eat lol. Looks like something from Masterchef. Nice sharp image.
It was cruel Sue, very cruel. I think i might find some ingredients for this weeks theme better suited to my dietIndulgence is an atractive image, crystal clear and colourful. Shame you couldnt eat the result, playing around with cream and chocolate and not being able to lick your fingers sounds cruel.
cheers mate, i like the vignette too, it helped create a bit of darkness to the indulgence. I did initially take the image in the dark but i didnt like the way i had it lit and the shadows so i opted for the light tent instead. This has got to be my favourite image from this week Chris.
I love the fact that you've created this yourself.
Pin sharp, well lit and the vignette works brilliantly
Andy
thanks mate, i did work in a restaurant for 9 years before my current career choice but i dont think i was that creativeWow. Could be a fancy restaurant desert there. Nice imagination.
Photographically, it's a really good shot. I really like that vignette and the shaded background. Looks lovely. The colours look spot on to me, and it's sharp as a pin.
Very very good shot for the week Chris.
Ian.
cooking is more for joy now than for a living.
I'm not a great fan of vignetting, but I gree it adds something to this shot. Very tasty!
Thanks, unfortunately i didn't get to eat it after as i have an intolerence to dairyand have to stay away from cream and most chocolate.
Impressed by the work that has gone into this and as a food shot it works really well in that it is making me hungry, the chocolate looks great.
Agree with the comment above that the strawberry could perhaps stand a bit of a colour boost, but would be interested to see a version without the grey vignette as my gut reaction is that it doesn't seem quite right on a food picture.
A shallow depth of field so that the front of the strawberry and cream is in focus with the back sliding gently out of focus might have been an alternative way to add that contrast that you were perhaps after with the vignette?
Doh!!!!!
It does work very well for close and indulgence although not being able to indulge yourself kind of takes the edge of a little. A shot of somebody else taking a bite would have been great too.
If I saw this on a dessert menu in a classy restaurant, I'd order it! It works on all levels, Chris, totally fits the theme and indeed looks good enough to eat!I'm not a great fan of vignetting, but I gree it adds something to this shot. Very tasty!

That strawberry looks too good to be real!
I like this very much. You have put a great deal of thought into the arrangement and composition which work very well, while your lighting with the vignette works beautifully.

Really like that Chris, the vignetting adds to the image nicely.... just think I'd like a teeny more lighter colour in the strawberry.
Lovely lighting and the shadows under the chocolate make it looks like its floating.

Chris,
Beautifully simple and the contrast between the saffron and what it's on really works. Makes it almost abstract in a way.... I too really struggled this week , I suppose thats what makes a 52 fun....
I think not too long back Saffron was more expensive than gold, but gold apparently is at a high.... (Sorry to be anal about it, but obviously I had to go and check... 0.4g of Saffron from Waitrose is £3.49, which equates to £8725 per kilo. Golf though is a whopping £27.17 per gram, so 3 x as expensive)

thanks for being anal mate nearly 9k a kilo really gives an idea how expensive it is! In catch up mode, so apologies if I am saying what others have said already!
Peace - I am a big fan of borders so I liked both versions of your image. The image itself is great and the detail you have captured in the sky is amazing. Love the pink jet trails and I think if I was there, I'd definitely have felt at peace too!
Indulgence - another cracking shot and something straight out of an M&S ad I'd say! Story about the park police made me laugh and a shame you didn't have your camera with you to capture the original shot.
Ingredients - really like the contrast between the safron and the background although I keep wondering what a close up of the safron with your macro lens would have looked like? It is expensive, isn't it?!
Given you said you lacked motivation, you certainly have kept up your stream of good shots for the project.

Chris, I love both of your last 2 shots. The colours in the ingredients are stunning. I would not have thought to put the saffron onto a blue background but it works really well. I like the lighting too.
I missed last weeks, but what a great indulgence. I cannot imagine setting up that photo and not being able to eat it afterwards! I love the angle, the colours, the lighting and the vignette.
Two really good weeks. Well done.
