Clarkson suspended by the BBC, TG taken off air.

Whereas Mrs V will be back as a regular viewer (she got sick of JC being a dick)

On a more serious note, we covered this earlier, but the same guy took over the most listened to breakfast show, the one that was so big it was bound to fail when Wogan left, and he made it bigger by a large number. Of course he lost a chunk of audience, but he brought with him a bigger chunk. I can see the same happening here.

If the trio continue their show and retain the chemistry and Evans does something refreshing with what was Top Gear then I'll be delighted with both.

This^

With Ken Block as a regular on 'denim gear' (he's been doing their live tour) and Petter Solberg as a regular on top gear (he performed at CarFest),

Top gear needed this change. The usual trio were, for me, getting boring and predictable. Too much farting around and not enough 'real car' stuff.

Final extended 'Top Gear' to be shown 28th June

They had already recorded two films.

The first is about Classic Cars and the second was about budget SUVs

All Top Gear film footage is pre recorded (before the series) and the studio sections are done weekly in front of the studio audience so it can be 'topical' and 'current'.

The last show is 75 mins and will feature Clarkson, Hammond & May in both films. The studio sections will just be Hammond and May but (from what I've read) without the studio audience.

A bit late to the party I know,,, I've been out of the country Sans interwebbythingy,
but I remember him, a couple of weeks ago, when a story was leaked to the press about him, becoming the new presenter,
which of course he fervently denied, on his breakfast show.
I thought at the time,
"The lady doth protest too much ;) "

I listened to his telling of the story on Monday morning.

He had totally ruled himself out early in whilst ever negotiations with May and Hammond were ongoing, he is a mate of all 3 and was recently on holiday with James May.

As we all now know, early last week, they both said there was no way they'd sign, which led the BEEB to ask Chris again, it didn't take long to make ends meet. Of course it was obvious he'd be approached, he's the obvious choice, but he didn't want to be involved in any negotiations whilst there was a chance for the original team.

On the day he announced he had accepted, it was 93 days after his stringent "No I won't".

He's also going to be executive producer of the new show, and has confirmed "100%" that one of the new presenters will be female.

Nobody has mentioned VBH? Where's she these days?

She has rather filled out a bit. Isn't she still with fifth gear. Useless programme in my opinion.

Wouldn't kick her out of bed for farting

Her husband is a director of top gear

Yes she was (ad tedium) and Top Gear was going to be scrapped by the BBC before Andy Milner took over and gave it a face lift !

FTFY :D

You probably mean Andy Wilman?

Though it was the partnership between Clarkson and Wilman that turned it around and Clarkson was the primary writer.

In any case both Clarkson and Wilman have now left the show.

(still half asleep):D
Certainly a team effort, I do chuckle at the people who hang the success of TG on Clarkson, he's certainly the obvious 'star', but surely as a bunch of photographers we ought to be able to see where the 'quality' of a TV production is created.

I'm no Clarkson hater, I find him entertaining despite the fact he's clearly a nob*. But to believe that there's no way to make a show without him (as some do) is beyond ridiculous.

*I'd happily spend a weekend watching motorsport with him, but I wouldn't let my sister marry him :p

Yes, and hopefully they will be bringing out their own alternative version of Top Gear on another channel soon.
They could maintain the impetus, and that'd be great.

Alternatively we might all be comparing '6th Gear' (or whatever they come up with) to the revamped top gear in 5 years time and saying how boring and dated it is in exactly the way we do 5th gear now.

How does the 70's version of QoS compare to todays show?
or Masterchef?
or Wogan's breakfast show
or Nationwide to The One Show
etc etc.

It had lost some of it's freshness, and it's audience, I can't wait to see both versions.

Totally with you on that one @Phil V i wasn't bothered anymore whether I missed an episode or not. Although I still want to see my Golf R against the other hot hatches :)

Ken Rockwell then!
I would prefer Kai and his lovely assistant. But you know what, photographers don't make for interesting TV presenters....We need more sex and rock'n'roll in the car shows...proper old school male testosterone...I want it fast and loud (yup totally nicked that line)

Apparently Clarkson was caught trying to sneak back into the Top Gear studio

Might be a refreshing change now that TG has a new team of presenters (When all have been selected). Thing is like most things, we hate change and then when it does happen we wonder what all the fuss was about! Change can be a good thing.

For me, TG is not all about the 3 guys that presented it. It got that way though. Now, hopefully, things will change for the better!

Problem is, it's the presenters, writers and producer who are out, I suspect that unfortunately we might end up with another Fifth Gear, or even a Top Gear pre the Clarkson/Wilman facelift of the show.

Ernest serious presenter to camera, "now we will be reviewing the Vauxhall Astra 1.4 for the next 30 minutes" ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

I think Chris Evans can be trusted not to do that.
My fear is the third presenter will be James Martin.

Never saw TFI then :ROFLMAO:

The 3 ex presenters don't have Chris Evans' energy between them. Love him or hate him, he's definitely not ever quiet or boring.
