Chillimonster's '365'

Yeah she is :)

She was feeling sorry for herself last night, but a cuddle with dad worked wonders :)

"My Girls Aloud"

Rebecca, Caitlin and Kerie all went to see Girls Aloud tonight. They all had a great time.

"Happy Birthday Mum!"

Keries Birthday today, and we had organised a surprise party at my mums. Keries was totally gobsmacked by it all :)

"Pooper Scooper!"

Ever since we put a gravel path from the lower decking to the raised decking our cat, Jess, has thought of it as a huge litter tray! Of course one of the jobs that needs to be done is scooping the poop!

When i started this 365 it was my intention to capture a year in the life of my two girls. The upshot of this is that some of the pictures may seem boring in comparison to some of the other 365's out there, but they do capture everyday events for the girls :)

Hope Kerie had a great birthday.

Strangely we thought the same when we made a gravelled area at the bottom of our garden but our cats will go out for hours and then come inside to use the litter tray! None of your pics are boring BTW, they are an excellent record of your kids day to day activities and I always look forward to the next installment. You did say you were going to continue this until Caitlin's 21st birthday didn't you? :D

Thanks Marc - She had a great time :)

Cats are strange aren't they :cuckoo:

I'm glad you're enjoying the 365 (as i am with yours and everyone elses - even though i struggle to keep up to date with them all :(), but like everyone i look at my pictures and think they could be more 'exciting' sometimes :)

On that note i'm thinking of 'borrowing' one of your ideas and doing a WAK-A-DAY (Wide Angle Kids) :D

My first entry into my 365 'blog' has been posted up on my Flickr and my Zenfolio sites.

Bringing in the New-Year with a BANG!

Well, its the first day of my '365' and i thougt i'd get it done and dusted early-on :-)

Caitlin, my youngest is covering her ears as she was expecting a loud bang, and in reality it was just a little louder than a standard party popper. After this the kids went berserk, going through a bag and a half of standard party-poppers in 5 minutes (guess who'll have to clean that up in the morning!!)

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYBODY!!

Before I even read the caption for 116 I thought, with a litter try that big, what is the size of the cat !?!?!?!
:)

I think you are incredibly brave to try a 365 like this - as Fabs says they are far from boring. As a family man I really enjoy seeing another take on a similar situation. Keep it up.

Thanks nicnok, relly appreciate the comments :)

"Wind Chime"

Here is the result of many lessons hard work in 'Design Technology', where Rebecca had to research, design, and manufacture a wind chime to a specification.

Ended up taking the shot with the 35mm end of the 17-35mm (forgot to swap lenses until it was too late :bang:)

Also ended up using onboard flash (which i hate!)

"To Be Continued...."

This is the story so far. 123 Pictures in total. We're officially 1/3 the way to christmas at the moment, plus I have no camera with me tonight, so I had to be a little inventive :)

On a different note, my girls are both in a dance production organised by Kirstens Dance Academy over the next four days, so expect some shots of that appearing in the 365 :)

Great idea considering your lack of camera Chris ;-)

Is your camera ok?

It's amazing to think we're 3rd of the way into our 365's :)

Thanks SM :)

Well the D700 is all packed up and ready to go to its new owner, and my 50D will be here tomorrow. The beauty of the 50D is that i can 'borrow' my brothers lenses and save some money, which is the main reason for the D700 and associated lenses being sold off. Simple lack of funds and the camera is a (very expensive) luxury, so by 'downgrading' i can refill the huge gaping hole in my finances a little

Wow, sorry didn't realise. Hope you like your new 50D (what lenses will you own/have access to?), it's the camera I would have got if I'd not come into a bit of money.

Well i'm buying a 100-400, but will have access to 85mm Prime, 50mm 1.4 Prime, 135 Prime, 300 Prime, MPE-65 (i think its called that - the macro thingy!), plus many more.

As long as the 50D is as good as people say, then its gonna be fine as its all about the pictures at the end of the day.

I'm not a brand fanboy (although i do like Olympus) and just enjoy getting the pictures.

If i come into some money i'll probably re-consider my options, but as with most folk - Family First :)

Oooo some nice lenses there, yeah that MPE-65 is really interesting 5x macro magnification (no focusing), sure to get some amazingly interesting macro shots with that, plus lots of nice primes :)

I suddenly completely lost all motivation to comment on this thread. The D700 is no more!!

You will never forgive yourself, you will be stuck with a clumsy Canon. I have no sympathy. ;)

But being serious, I understand your reason behind it, did you not consider a D90??

"Lights...... Camera....... Action!"

Tonight was the full technical rehersal for the dance show. I have the job of manning the sound desk. The beauty of that is that i get the best seat in the house so the DSLR will be with me tomorrow for some 'action' shots :)

I will try and keep up with everyones 365 over the next few days, but i may be a little bit sparodic (sp) as i'll be really busy with the show :)

Tomorrow will be the big test for the 50D - a nice dimly lit theatre. If it fails miserably then i really dont know what i'll do

I looked at the 90D, but after the D700 a l'esser' Nikon would just not feel right, and i'd be comparing it to its bigger brother (if that makes sense ), plus the availability of some nice glass will more than make up for it.

If i had had the chance of having a 50D 'on-loan' i would have done, but i had no choice (financially) but to take the plunge and see how it goes.

If it all goes 'belly up' and it's not up to scratch i'll just buy another D700 :D I know its not going to be in the same league noise wise, but if i can get away with it.........

Another catchup here Chris, another  from me.

Don't worry about it getting boring. You're doing this for you and your girls...we are merely bystanders ;)
When I did mine, I thought alot of my shots were boring grab-shots, but then I realised the promise I made at the start of the year "Some will be imaginitive, creative and arty, some will be grabshots...but they will ALL be pictures of me, taken on that day"...

I think it's quite easy to lose sight of the goal. We do these 365's to take a photo a day that means something to us. The task isn't 'wow everyone once a day with a creative and arty photo' :)

Seems corny, but if you keep that forefront in your mind, it does help.

Girls Aloud? You should have said, I was backstage with all 5 of them...I could have got your family VIP Passes :D

Thanks Marcel, glad you're enjoying it still :)

I see what you mean about losing sight of the goal. I set out to do this as a momento for my girls and my mum in the form of a book, that they can keep, and look back on in years to come, and in that respect it will be a sucess. But sometimes, like you did yourself, you look at your pictures and look at other 365's and come to the conclusion that i did (i suspect i'm not alone in that respect either).

However a good kick up the arse from the wife and i'm back on track with the right state of mind and ready for the next 200-odd days :D

"Disco Inferno!"

This is from the opening night of "Dance Fever" - a show put on by Kirstens Dance Academy. I had the job of "Soundman" which gave me an unrivaled view of the stage and managed to get some fantastic shots :)

Now that i'm back and available i'll take some time over the next day or two to play catch-up with everyones 365's :)
