that poppy image certainly is abstract... not sure it's for me really... the others all work well, but I think I'd go with the wall and the roof edge.
 
Sorry I've not got back sooner, thanks for the latest comments. I had planned to get last weeks theme sorted quicker but the week just vanished before my eyes! So thank you Michael, Lynne and John.

On to Symmetry. I had a few ideas but was really after sometimes different. The few I have looked at have been brilliant.

Here is my take on it, not strictly symmetry but I liked the shot. I did think about cutting it and flipping it but I like to think of this as broken symmetry the tractor driver had a few and spoilt my symmetrical shot!! I may tinker with the colour a bit more yet.

nice image for Symmetry ....shame the tractor driver was a bit tipsy but it's still almost symmetrical....just a step to the right would have nailed it :thumbs:

And a little bit of a cheat for Moody. I took this yesterday and then found out the theme. I wanted to do moody skies so I tinkered with this one and I think it does give off moody. Its a filler for now and going to look over the last 23 weeks and see if there is a reshoot in there. I know there is but its coming up with the new ideas!!!

Symmetry, I'm a sucker for this one, as I for the proverbial lone tree...:D Tad right and a bit more contrast in the sky for me.

Moody, as it's a filler I'll let you off: as above, bit more oomph in the sky or me. I'll keep my eye out for your proper moody post.

Alex, gonna have to agree with Marsha on these... the effect in both works well, and the theme is clearly present, but I think the crop would make them both much better.
 
Thanks for the comments will have a play tonight and see what pressing stuff randomly in ps does! Glad the wiggle isn't an issue!

If i can enhance moody it will stay if not I am sure something else moody will present itself.

I like the symmetry shot but not sure about the processing on either one the second one is better though :thumbs: well to my dodgy eyes.
 
Symmetry - I wouldn't worry about flipping it as I think it works well as it is - more natural. The edit works better for me.

Moody - Suits the theme. I can't decide whether I'd darken the sky a tad more or brighten the foreground.

Love the explanation of your PP'ing style :lol:

Random - like the edits which take on board the comments made. Did it taste random too?

Temperature - #3 is best - on theme , good comp and like Peter I think that the light is spot on.

Abstract - some good shots there and all of them have merit. For me #1 - the wavy roofing is the best' I like the comp, the colour and the focus.

Symmetry - Good idea - the theme is symmetry, not symmetrical, and so your take is spot on. The edit/crop is very good. Like it a lot:thumbs:

Moody - I think that is pretty good. a lot of the shots of sky that others have taken have been mono and your take in colour is more difficult and has been pulled off.

I love symmetry! I kinda wish there was a tiny little tractor in the distance with a vague protrusion from one side that we would all know was a bottle of something strong... but I suppose that would distract from the symmetry. Did you try it in B&W? With all that texture in the field, there might be something quite special in there.

Love moody too, and agree about the re-edit.

If I was any good at PS'ing I would have put a little tractor in! I did not try B&W had decided to keep away from it as I do fall back on B&W sometimes. I and I do want some colour :)

Here we have a couple for Joy. I tried to stage the first with my friends kids, they did not quite get the concept but was reasonably happy with the result. This one taken on my S3100 as I left the big one at home as it was due to chuck it down! It was a back up shot as I knew I was seeing the torch on Monday and hoped that woud bring me something relevant!

Soon as the torch showed up, people were just everywhere and I had to compete with some tool who just kept walking in front of everyone! So many teeing up a shot and then bang - she'd appear in the middle! So I had to snap quick.

I knew there was a reason I did not take many people shots like this one :thinking: :lol:

I like the Joy pic of the kids jumping the other one although the torch carrier certainly looks joyful the bg is distracting no fault of yours.

short looks very tasty hope you saved us all some :)

Cracking spot, so close to it and the change over. The torch carriers were obviously having the best time. They looked so proud!
 
Alex, I'm in the process of picking my favourite photo for your first half of the challenge, but you have no links in your first post and there's no set on Flickr for your final entries; rather you've done a set for each week, making it impossible to do a quick browse.

Both good for Joy, Alex. Looks like you could do with a little fill flash on the kids jumping. Nothing you could do with the BG, it's in a busy crowd for the torch.

Authority, prefer the first of the two... almost symmetrical to boot. The second is ok, but doesn't have the same impact as the first... I think the message almost gets a bit lost.

Short... Yum... looks good, bet it tasted it too ;)

Authorities are decent, and on theme.

Small, liking this one. Made me smile...small fries. I had a crop and removed 1/2 inch off bottom and left to push the small potatoes to the lower left corner and they felt smaller.

Thanks Andy, just been contacted by his grandma asking for me to send the picture on to them so felt quite proud of that! All the torch bearers were ful of joy.

I had a play with some tighter crops and I did not find one I was happy with (other than this one), maybe I need to push it a little more with creative cropping.
