Channel 4 undercover undertaker

To be fair, if that's the worst they are doing - over selling/charging and moving people with out lids - i don't think it's that bad, considering the thing they could get away with.

Seriously,so you'd be happy for a member of your family to be shipped about in a open coffin in the back of a Transit van ,well I bloody wouldn't !!!

I couldn't believe the undertakers work to performance targets, my partner and I have said we would not use the co -op, I thought the sales targets and hard sell were only for spivs.

i wouldn't be happy no, but with all the - oh they steal your jewels and mess with your body stories floating around i think it could of been alot worst.

Same as any other business I guess.

A little disturbing in probably one of the few industries immune to the current economic situation - or not :shake:

They really don't care one bit about the customer..... It's about making profit and nothing else, just the same as any other business or service. :shake:

Well it would not worry me at all, my father and I both believe in the same thing that when we are dead just put us in a black plastic bag and throw our bodies in the trash as we'll know nothing about it.

Neither of us want any from of service at all, funerals are only for the living, the dead don't care.

i'd like a small service, just so they can have a right good after party - spend the cash of booze instead of flowers etc

Haven't seen it, but every profession will have employees who do such things.

Personally when I die you can take me out to sea and dump me...just make sure I am actually deceased

What about the rest of your family, are they of the same opinion?

Obviously we've been brought up in different worlds.

lets face it we either bury the dead or burn them that's hardly taking good care of them is it
the most horrific offence IMO is that they tax you when you die

agree with the majority here. When you are dead you are dead, people can use me as a sledge and ski down mount everest for all I care, at that point i'm just carbon and hydrogen.

Hell, stuff me and turn me into a remote controlled helicopter if you like!!!

It's not nice for the people living to see a dead body treated badly but for the person who is dead, it's irrelevant

I've only dealt with this situation once and it was enough. My mother (who was dying) and I had discussed what she wanted and like others here it was simple basic stick me in a box and burn me. She was a church goer so wanted that part at least for her friends there. The funeral company put so much pressure on me to spend more and more, I was shocked at the callousness of it.

In the end I chose and paid for an 'oak' coffin, on the day I'm sitting in the church looking at a chipboard box with bashed corners and peeling paper veneer, I was livid but couldn't really call a stop to the proceedings to complain and afterwards, the 'evidence' was gone of course.

Sorry to hear that. Personally I've had to sort funerals for both my parents used a different local family run undertaker for each and they couldn't have been nicer. Definitely no pressure selling involved.

Some it was a huge fuss over nothing.
The bit about the woman being trasported in the van with the lid off. The two guys didnt want to do it, they knew they shouldnt, but it was that or not have the woman arrive where she needed to be on time, which would have caused far more grief to the familly.
Its not like they were throwing dead bodies about or using them as puppets.

Ok, the over selling part isnt nice, but what area of business isnt like this?

Yes, there is nobody in my family that has a gravestone and only one that has a small plaque at the church where she was a very regular parishioner.
Both my Mother and Grandparents were cremated and ashes spread at the crematoriums garden of remembrance.
You don't need anything physical to remember loved ones by they remain with you in your own memories.

Interesting that 2 of the speakers were from rival companies and bitter ex employees
The cooperative is planning to take legal action against the producers of this programme
It was a hatchet job there is two Sides to every news story created by very clever editing to put the funeral director in a bad light
