Celeb Spotting!

These are all impressive lists! I can't really say that I've come into contact with that many on a day-to-day basis, although I am in two of Mike Estes' (ex-Lynyrd Skynyrd) bands.

I've also met (and enjoyed drinks with) Dave Hlubek (founder member of a band called Molly Hatchett)
Got hammered with Billy Currie out of Ultravox
Jammed and got plastered with Nibs (bass player for Saxon)
Had my gear set up and checked by Ed Adair (Carlos Santana's guitar tech - although I never met Santana himself)
Used to visit Francis Rossi (Status Quo) quite a bit as a kid - two of his lads went to my school
Used to know Mick Abrahams out of Blodwyn Pig
Have met Joe Satriani a few times
Steve Vai
Stu Hamm
Mick Pointer (first drummer for Marillion - he regularly came to a music shop I worked at)

Got called a 'f**king b**tard' by David Lee Roth for daring to take a pic of him at a gig!

I've also had the displeasure of meeting some of the most arrogant, self-obsessed idiots on the face of the planet (John Sykes out of Thin Lizzy/Tygers Of Pan Tang/Whitesnake) being one of them...!

YOU are such a name dropper!

I also work for Mike Estes...

Met Phillip Schofield once...

Ok heres some of mine .....

Used to frequent the Crown in Birmingham with Boy George (before the 'boy'), Martin Degsville (Sigue Sigue Sputnik),Ranking Roger (Beat) was a regular too & tried to beg my then boyf's hat ...later copied his style.

Ive elbowed simon Le Bon off the dancefloor at the Rum Runner,

I used to go clubbing with Patti Bell (wife of Steve Gibbons).

Ive snogged Chris Fradgeley & been to gigs with him & Malcome Treece of The Wonderstuff.

Michael Hutchence held my hand & sang 'Mystify' to me (ok so I was in the audience at the time).

My sister babysat for Tony Godden when he was goalie for west Brom.

I know Marian Newman, author & manicurist to stars such as J-Lo, Kylie & Kate Moss.

Ive pulled alongside Naseem on the motorway, bumped into Emma whats-her-name with James Major at the Trafford centre, & queued behind one of the uglies from take That (could be Jason Orange, not sure) in Selfridges.

Got filmed working at the local dog track for a scene in Delziel & Pascoe, blink & you missed me!

My cousin Matt Oliver played for London Irish.
Another cousin Gary Foster wellknown ballroom dancer.

Mmm ... think thats it!

And Alex 'Hurricane' Higgins

LOL I forgot about him. I had the pleasure of squeezing his neck one night when he was drunk and being totally objectionable to the female company. There's good drunks and bad drunks, but he definitely doesn't carry it well. :D

Agree. He almost kicked my pint off the bar in Dublin when he decided to stagger along the top of it!!

Another ex-BBC employee so seen a few celebs through work.
Had dinner with Cherie Booth (Mrs Blair).
Met Paul Kaye, 'Trigger', his mate out of Vicar of Dibbly and David Cameron in the hotel bar where I am stay during the week whilst working in Norfolk.
The most memorable was probably seeing the Queen Mum at Orkney airport.

During the early 70s I worked for British Rail as a stewardess on the east coast line. Mike Yarwood was a regular passenger who spent most of the journey proping up the bar. He was always sozzeled by the time we pulled in to London.

(Well he was a celeb then ) :)

Not met, and a bit of a name drop, but it is photography related.

Before I was born David Bailey asked my mum out, but she was already married to my dad.

(I used to tell this story incorrectly that he asked my mum to marry him....I've since been corrected, all he did was ask her out).

:woot:

OOOh seriously impressive that one, Marcel!

Quite ironic too...

My mum has seen Hank Marvin in his underpants, and my sis got asked out by Captain Sensible years ago

She has very nice skin...and it goes all over.

I almost forgot. Quite a nice moment for me, was having a cup of tea and a chat when I met the first English woman to ever swim the English Channel.
