Yes
Whilst in Camden yesterday, we saw Pete from Big Brother (yeah, I know, he's not a celeb, but he's fairly well known now :p), and it made me think.... what celebs/ well known peopple have you seen whilst going about your day to day life?

I've also seen:
Ross Kemp (Grant Mitchell from Eastenders) at Leeds/Bradford airport
spoken to the athlete Roger Black over the phone after his wife gave birth
was the midwife to Martin Daniels' wife (son of Paul Daniels :gag:)
My boyfriends mum also spotted Ainsley Harriot in Sainsburys in Farnham!

I met the band Keane when my dad sound engineered them in Birmingham, I met a band called The Paddingtons, I met Ricky Tomlinson when he was recording a show in Liverpool that never got shown or at least I never saw it.. and outside the liverpool fc training ground I got an autograph and a photo with:

Steven Gerrard
Peter Crouch
I saw Sami Hyypia but he drove past us listening to heavy rock music :(
Jerzy Dudek
John Arne Riise
Jamie Carragher.

Risky going to the liverpool training ground, lot's of rough'ns

The Geezer from Supergrass

and i currently work with the brother of Luol Deng the #9 for the Chicago Bulls :)

I worked at the BBC for a while, and was working during a Children in Need thing, so have met/seen a large number of celebs, most frightening though, i stayed at a Hotel in Blackpool with my last Girlfriend, and Ariel Sharon was staying there too ! eeeeeek never seen so many armed police and dodgy Israely secret service types !

Gordon Brown - Edinburgh Airport
Dave Pearce - Sat next to him in a restaurant
Astro (UB40) - Married my ex's Next door neighbours daughter

Few others but i cant remember there names now

My eye surgeon ... and plenty of other similar everyday people ... generally un-named and unrecognisable ... who really are worthy of the 'celeb' status ... ;)

The rest are mostly wasters who ... at the on-going expense of millions ... somehow got a break in life ... and for me deserve the same treatment as bad dentists ...

It is the season of Bah Humbug after all ... :D

:p

Met a few whil I worked for the BBC.

When I was on a training course in London, we spotted Noel (or Liam) Gallagher walking down the road with his son.
Then saw Madonna as she was whisked into Television Centre for her interview with Jonathan Ross.
Almost saw Tatu while there (was waiting for them to appear on the Top of the Pops stage to rehearse for the show, but we had to shuffle off before they appeared on stage)

My claim to fame though was being about 8 feet away from the lovely Gail Porters bum.
She was rehearsing her TOTP links with Richard Bacon while we were in the studio, and although it would have been nice to give it a squeeze, it would have been highly rude of me to do so (at least without asking first...lol).

Then on the final day I was carrying my luggage out of the training centre, over my shoulder when I squeezed past a woman, hitting her with my bag. I did proffer my apologies which was met with a smile, and when I got outside one of my colleagues said "Do you realise who you just hit?" I said "Er, nope"...."Chrissie Hynde"....didnt even recognise her...lol (Im useless with celeb faces, probably couldnt spot one if I fell over them).

Oh and I've seen a few Coronation Street types in our local Asda and Tescos.

ROTFL...

Check-out girls (and boys, I supose) in supermarkets are heroes. Who'd want that job?

I once sat next to Barry Foster (Van Der Valk) in a coffee shop and didn't even notice him.

My list is mainly comedians and really low level celebs :(

Noteables I have come into contact with include:

HM Queen & Duke of Edinburgh
Prince Andrew & Prince Edward (& wives / ex's)
Prince Charles & Princess Diana (& sons)
Margaret Thatcher (& hubby)
John Major (& wife)
(all through work)

Sean Connery
Bruce Forsyth
Harry Secombe
Nick Faldo
Tom Watson
Seve Ballesteros
(all through golf)

Lots of other "minor celebs" TV personalities & sports types including Alan Wells & Michael Buerk who play golf at the same club as me ...

Paul ;)

Oh I have Joe ... just generally wouldn't give them the time of day ... or more airspace ...

As I said ... Bah Humbug ... :D

:p

I'm not one for this 'celebrity culture' but I have met and worked for a few of the bigger names a few years ago, probably the most notable ones being Frank Sinatra, on another occasion getting p*ssed with Kirk Douglas and spending a weekend in Rome looking after David Bowie. Like Arkady there are a few Heads of State and well known businessmen as well.

Older than your Av makes you look Col ... :D

:p

The most famous person I've met and shaken hands with is Harold Wilson who attended both my grandad’s and my uncle’s funerals back in the seventies.

My son's connections are pretty wide and varied and I've been fortunate enough to meet a few of the people he's worked with or appeared on shows with: Steve Cradock (Ocean Colour Scene) who's a good friends of James and donated one of his guitars to him, Harvey (from So Solid) and his gorgeous wife Alesha (I came home one day to find those two in the house! Imagine my surprise!), Badly Drawn Boy aka Eamon with the hat.

However James has met and rubbed shoulders with a lot more A to Z listers including the Foo Fighters, Robbie Williams, Sugababes, Liberty X, Russ Ballard (a hero of mine!), Blue, a Gallagher or two - the list goes on....the g*t!!

Thought I'd put my 2 pence worth in (thats about all its worth). I cooked for John major and the rest of the cabinet just before they got kicked out of government, also Lenny Henry while working at the same hotel, and the Bolton Football team when they came to play Ipswich. Have also shaken hands with Ted Rogers and Dusty Bin!!!

Hmmm... bit of a list this:

Dennis Waterman and Rula Lenska (used to live down the road from my school)
All of Depeche Mode (they played at my school)
Barry Cryer
Nerys Hughes (used to deliver her paper)
Rodney Bewes (sold him one of the early Amstrad WPs)
Paul Daniels (he was a guest at a family wedding)
Suzanne Mitzi and a dozen other page 3 girls
Ronnie Corbet (1st wife's dad used to drive for him)
Karen Barber & Nicky Slater (plus a bunch more skaters & hockey players)
Seal
The cricket player who came home recently due to stress (???)
The McGovern brothers (designed Canary Wharf building)
Gordon Ramsay's mum (works for my wife)
Nigel Benn
Dave Prowse
John Goodman
Louis Walsh
Roland Rivron

There's probably others but my mind's gone blank now

Tony Blair
HM Queen Elizabeth II
Prince Andrew
Prince Charles
Camilla Parker-Bowles (as was)
President Bill Clinton
Mylene Klass
Diana, Princess of Wales
Elle McPherson
President George W Bush

if I think of anyone else, I'll let you know - you did say day to day life?

WOW
I cant beleive you have met her...
What was Mylene like??? she looks great in a bikini in the jungle!! :)

I've met a few, but the one which stands out is a metallic green Ford Zephyr pulling up by me in the small hours, (when cars only came in black) and this big black guy who filled the front of the car, asked me the way to a local nightclub. I gave him instructions how to get there, and all the while I'm thinking "I know this guy"

As he drove off he handed me a huge cigar through the window, which was when I clocked the no plate RE 1.

Ray Ellington. :D

Bumped into (literally) Micky Dolenz (Monkees drummer)in a department store in Nottingham.
I have met loads of international Athletes, Loughborough is big on athletics, in particular Seb Coe (who I once beat in a race) and the lovely Paula Radcliffe.
And Alex 'Hurricane' Higgins

I haven't met many or haven't noticed anyone, the only person I can think of was Dawn French filling up her car with petrol or diesel at the BP garage just down the road from me about a month ago. I smiled at her like a normal person being polite it wasn't till i was back in my car i realised it was her :bonk:

Comedian Jimmy Jones (lived near my Mum and Dad now lives near me. Seen him driving about Upminster)
Rick Wakeman saw him driving through Hornchurch about 20 years ago.
I've worked with Brian Jones' (Rolling Stones) Son. He's partly famous. It was his yacht that caught fire recently (around bonfire night) at Brighton Marina, sinking his yacht and the one moored next to it.
Frank Bruno
British Bulldog, Davey Boy Smith (World Wrestling Federation) met him training in the gym I trained at very nice bloke. Shame he died in such a horrible accident.
Glen Murphy played George Green in London's Burning met him at the same gym, very friendly one of my workmates knows him from way back before he was famous.
Trevor Brooking,
The All Blacks New Zealand Rugby team in 1997 at the London Motorshow, got to speak to a few while they were having a photo shoot on the Ford stand, also David Bellamy at the same time. My son had his photo taken with David for an enviromental promotion he was doing with Ford.
There is probably more but can't think of them now. All have been nice genuine people and very down to earth.

Oh I forgot - Tim Roth - I put him in detention once :-)

These are all impressive lists! I can't really say that I've come into contact with that many on a day-to-day basis, although I am in two of Mike Estes' (ex-Lynyrd Skynyrd) bands.

I've also met (and enjoyed drinks with) Dave Hlubek (founder member of a band called Molly Hatchett)
Got hammered with Billy Currie out of Ultravox
Jammed and got plastered with Nibs (bass player for Saxon)
Had my gear set up and checked by Ed Adair (Carlos Santana's guitar tech - although I never met Santana himself)

Used to know Mick Abrahams out of Blodwyn Pig
Have met Joe Satriani a few times
Steve Vai
Stu Hamm
Mick Pointer (first drummer for Marillion - he regularly came to a music shop I worked at)

Got called a 'f**king b**tard' by David Lee Roth for daring to take a pic of him at a gig!

I've also had the displeasure of meeting some of the most arrogant, self-obsessed idiots on the face of the planet (John Sykes out of Thin Lizzy/Tygers Of Pan Tang/Whitesnake) being one of them...!

I used to be quite friendly with Tony Slattery - he's a lovely chap and a true gentleman. At the time he was doing Whose Line is it Anyway and took myself and a friend to the end of series party which was a blast. Clive Andersen was also at that party and instantly spotted myself and friend as the two who'd been at most of the recordings through the series, and had cheerfully spent our time playing hell with the continuity in the recordings by changing jumpers etc mid-show, and on one notable occasion swapping seats.......amusing at the time and most frustrating for the Director! clive thought it was hilarious though, and urged us to keep at it the next series as well!

When I was very small I was out with my Nan and we saw Tony Hart on the London Underground.....well, it was a big thing to a 6 year old in the late 70's!

I've also met all three remaining members of Queen, and got given a pair of drumsticks by Roger Taylor! :D

Many many many bands, comedians and actors.

I worked alongside over 500 bands whilst in the midlands, the most popular probably

Simply Red, Queen, Runrig, Eric Clapton, Marillion, Fish, Inspiral Carpets, Charlatans, Thunder, Bon Jovi, Simple Minds, Wet Wet Wet, Whitesnake, Poison, Guns and Roses, Chris de Burgh, Heart and loads more.

Jasper Carrott, Phil Cool, The Big yan...

The kids get really sick now, quite often a record comes on and I'll say - have i told you i've worked with them - to which they say "not again"...

well they were great years :D

Wow KIM - I'm impressed... some great bands there!

So how did you all get to meet these people?
