I think he was highlighting that the maximum penalty doesn't seem to be sufficient. And the point of that article is?

Priceless.:sleep::sleep::sleep:
How original.Ah
Ok.
I'm not defending the haters, it's hideously out of context. I'd like to see the b*****d pay his dues though, I can't see why he should have to go into hiding, it's the sad mix of tabloid mentality and real life in the form of social media that really needs some intelligent thought that appears to be beyond the grasp of too many. We should make sure that the due legal process is followed. That's very true.
But nor does it mean people should gather at your place of work, or your home, literally beying for your blood.
He did a stupid, cruel, thoughtless thing, and I hope he regrets it for the rest of his natural.
But do I think he should be extradited? No.
Do I think he should serve time? No.
Do I think the outraged bandwagoners should crawl back under their rocks too? Yes.
Killing these magnificent creatures is despicable, but tge systematic killing of other humans, which is happening in several regions, is worse, and I think folk need to get their perspectives in order.
Just. My. Opinion.

Are you two not getting the message??? It's really time to stop
Nod was having trouble with a link. I supplied it. Ruth had a dig. Sorry I should have just reported itAre you two not getting the message??? It's really time to stop
Is it though? Sure, as a human I have a natural affinity to my own species, but we are all animals. It all depends on what you are using to value that animal life. The systematic killing of all animals should cause outrage, whether human or otherwise, so I don't think there is a need to worry about people's perspective here.Killing these magnificent creatures is despicable, but tge systematic killing of other humans, which is happening in several regions, is worse, and I think folk need to get their perspectives in order. Absolutely right
The problem of crimes against human rights around the world is way beyond the average joe's capability of tackling. If someone here has a solution, it's be great to hear itKilling these magnificent creatures is despicable, but tge systematic killing of other humans, which is happening in several regions, is worse, and I think folk need to get their perspectives in order. Sorry Nod, for taking the time to post that link for you. It's obvious that assistance in helping a thread flow is not appreciated by someFor some reason, the address bar isn't showing so I can't C&P the link to the Telegraph story that suggests that the MAXIMUM penalty for the crime is $400. A Google for telegraph cecil $400 will find it though. I suppose a significant drop in earnings until people forget all about this might be a minor itch to the c*** but not enough IMO.
I think there is, there has been thousands of column inches and associated TV news coverage over the death of a single lion, It's good that the issue has been highlighted and I hope the b*****d responsible gets locked up, but while we've been discussing that, thousands of other animals and hundreds of human beings have been needlessly killed. Perspective, the number of supposedly liberal do-gooders who have brayed for the torture and death of the dentist is saddening to me, because they're ignoring the everyday but harder to find stories about other deaths and torture etc.Is it though? You are sounding like ST4 and others here. You have no idea what these "do gooders" do with their lives and if they are ignoring other concerns.the number of supposedly liberal do-gooders who have brayed for the torture and death of the dentist is saddening to me, because they're ignoring the everyday but harder to find stories about other deaths and torture etc.

I agree with Phil (and Ruth) that those baying for blood (the dentist's) may need to get a grip. Those seeking justice through the rule of law though I fully support (although I wish the law was a bit more harsh in this country and elsewhere for wildlife crimes such as this). You are sounding like ST4 and others here. You should have just ignored it. I'll PM you my thoughts why.Sorry I should have just reported it![]()
Thank you for writing this! I have been amazed and appalled a number of times in this forum by people (in the name of animal welfare) claiming that they like seeing people killed or maimed. The irony is staggering.
I'd like to see the dentist haters/lion lovers live amongst lions. That would be truly epic entertainment.
I know that there's not a thousand posts on my twitter feed / facebook / here / at work / everywhere else I go. No, I don't know what they do in private, but I know what winds them up to rant publicly - it's stories like this which catch the public mood. You are sounding like ST4 and others here. I must have unchecked the conversations box after getting so many love letters in the pastEdit: hmm, I'm 'not allowed' to PM you.
Well this was just the first page - you have a great auto filter...I could only be bothered scanning the first page, but the only post I saw where someone said they would "like" to see human suffering was this one
If there are other posts where someone has explicitly expressed a like for such suffering, please point me in it's direction.
I hope they get this guy,and he lose everything![]()
...Justice would be him getting gut shot with a crossbow and then letting him suffer for 40 hours...
Hope some red neck pops an arrow in his ase
Meanwhile in other news from Zimbabwe human rights abuses continue on a massive scale each and every day with people being beaten, tortured and murdered, whilst others starve.....
Ricardo was quite specific about people liking the thought of human suffering .... I don't think your examples fulfil that and am "happy to believe I have enough evidence to back up my conclusion.Well this was just the first page - you have a great auto filter...
So, what are you doing to help the people of Zimbabwe?This.......
Really - you know how to twist a thread round - FFS there are 2 very specifically different points mangled there - go and have a lie down and think about your behaviour.Ricardo was quite specific about people liking the thought of human suffering .... Why? because I have said something you disagree with? You really are sounding like ST4 now.
The chairman of the Zimbabwe conservation task force seems to suggest it can be up to 15 years. That seems much more fitting for this kind of crime in my opinion. For some reason, the address bar isn't showing so I can't C&P the link to the Telegraph story that suggests that the MAXIMUM penalty for the crime is $400. In fact, the majority of yanks who hunt do so with no professional assistance whatsoever.
They simply load up the pick-up with guns, ammunition, beer and their mates and head off into the woods.
For some animals they require a licence (bears, cougars, bighorn etc.), but for most they do not; it just needs to be in season.
"Nothing pleases me more than seeing some pic of the bullfighter getting gored".
Now I have read a lot of stuff like that in this forum over the years.
We are not allowed to reference other threads to make a point Richard, so I'll report this as there is no evidence in this particular thread of anyone liking human suffering, apart from Steve who we know is allowed to break all the rules.Hard to search and quote all the examples when on an iPad mini, but here's one example:

Ahhh, the same old "if you actually read my posts" and lack of intelligence. Why? because I have said something you disagree with?
Jeez, if you actually read my posts, with context and a little intelligence - instead of looking for a fight, you'll find we set off from the same place. If this is how you treat 'friends' you must have a wonderfully happy existence :banghead:
A lot of you are making a lot of assumptions, that because some are upset by this story that for some reason we don't care about anything else,if some of you feel strongly about something maybe start a thread about it,instead of just trolling on this thread![]()

Some of the higher primates (particularly chimpanzees and bonobos) take part in organized hunts. As well as providing a source of high-value nutrition, it acts as a bonding exercise for the group, since cooperation is required for the hunt to be successful.Whether the killing of Cecil was legal or illegal, for the good of the country's economy or beneficial to wildlife conservation, what bothers me most is what goes through the minds of those people who get enjoyment out of killing animals for no reason other than their own satisfaction.
There must be a thesis in there for some budding psychologists!
