Daily Carol's 365 from 12th December 2012 - A Year of Happiness

Nice subject , but I feel you do it more justice. It's a bit dark and a very tight crop.

Thats okay Vince :) Best of the bad bunch I'm afraid - running out of light and time today and couldnt think what to put up .... tried to get the birds in the garden at the feeder but they did a flyer as soon as they heard the lens cap off :( Got them in the tree but too far to look decent :( Should be back to normal tomorrow :)

And I will look forward to that Carol :):), Bright and Sparkly please:love:

Thanks Sarah and I agree - disliking it the more I look at it  How bad is that???
Had to crop it tight as there were street signs and lamp posts and didnt quite like them in the shot

Hmm.. You might be able to push it a bit brighter. You might have to mask out the sky though. Nice image with lots of contrast.

Thanks Tim .... Tried a bit brighter but it just seemed to blow everything so brought it back down again. Know for next time now

Nice - and I'd be tempted to bring it up even a bit brighter (not all of it, just the shadows maybe?) I tend to like very light, bright images though - its really a matter of personal taste.

I'll see what I can do Lynn :)

Hi Carol.... Id be tempted to come round further either way..as I feel the angle just doesn't give off enough character to the building ... Did you not order any of the snow just to cap the photo off? :)

Next project then - learn to clone them out ;)

That reminds me of some of the school's you see around ireland tiny little things that looks like there the size a large house  I think it works well
Thanks Matt :)

Was actually taken in a moving car so that was the best angle - multi shots with the last couple (best angles as well :( ) having a 'wonderful' side view of the drivers nose :shake:
and we dont get snow here - not unless it is equal in temperature to the Antarctic :( - too much salt in the air

Next project then - learn to clone them out ;)
Cloned the wires out above the school but didnt think to do it with the signs  Project on list now :)

 I do like 365ing for trying new things - my next is going to be photo stacking - hopefully sometime this week with my macro :)

It is amazing to me how many new things I have learnt in just over a month. I am now shooting mainly in Manual rather than always in Auto and even trying the Programmed Mode as well...... Have learnt loads about ISO and Shutter speed (though sometimes still get it slightly wrong ) Just starting to learn about Aperture now ..... just taking things one at a time rather than trying to get them all crammed in at once - would forget more than I learn if I did it that way - makes me sound a bit stupid but the best way to do it for me :)
Photo stacking?? wouldnt know where to start ...... project list added to .... will need another book by the end of this

Aperture is one of the best ;) I often use my camera in aperture mode, as it helps the "look" of what you are after more.

Don't buy books - google and you tube are your friend :D Although saying that, I've just bought a book about flashing ;)

use google and you tube a lot :) Got two wonderful books for christmas and they cover a lot but sometimes need you tube to show it properly :)

I'm hoping to be a proficient flasher before too long - both indoor and out ;)

Haha!!..... Liberating

not too sure about the flashing so will try to stay out of this bit of convo
But am quite pleased with myself this morning :) .... made myself a backdrop :) Okay its not to professional quality and cost me all of about 6.00GBP but looks okay and is 5' wide and 7' long so perfect for some portrait work when I get some started :) Piece of material in the sales and length of wood.... few staples and voila!!! saved me about 40.00 (till I can save enough to get a proper one :) )

Cool, practice with some SP's - I'm all for homemade props :)

Yep come on Carol... :D:D

I'm getting a flash finally with my Birthday money so i'm certainly joining the flashers!

looked at some on ebay and starting at 40.00 so was a bit out of my price range with funds at the minute and thought why not try one .... can't be that hard and it works ok .... couldnt get just black or just white though (marked a lot so in sale but still too expensive to pay for damaged as that) so it is a grey marl but looks ok ... will try it out and see how they come out :) Money saved is money spent on something else (that I cant make)

I have a flash but just cant seem to figure it out :( One of my friends whos a pro was at the do on saturday was going to help me after the show but we never got to get together after that so I didnt get any advice or for him to sort it for me and show me what to do :( Am trying it out with different things but just not giving me the results I want .... won't be long though

Well done with the birthday money - you'll have a ball with it :)

Yes but nobody will take the kids!!:lol:

Haha excellent idea!!... pre programed for instant teenage tantrums and small rat tantrums?............ hmmm maybe leave that out lol

yes dont put everything!!! I always say be honest on ebay but...... there are times you have to hold back slightly

shhhhhhh :nono: there might be a buyer on here :suspect:

Right I am off for my walk .... camera (and macro) in hand to see if I can find something slightly better than yesterdays :D

Well I went for my walk with Macro in hand and ended up in the local cemetery (morbid I know for such a sunny but cold day) I walked a way I dont usually go and came across another beautiful little pond complete with ducks, Coots and even a goose but thought you might be sick of birds for now. Then saw this sticking out at a 90 degree angle and thought how simple but beautiful it looked .... wasn't until after that I realised it wasn't a real flower :( But still liked it. Walked out of the cemetery and found a little garden hidden away so went for a walk around there, saw a puddle with a coat of ice on it and decided that the grass was too muddy so would walk across the puddle - only looked shallow but...... you guessed it! It was a LOT deeper than it looked resulting in one foot very wet and cold and the other one slightly dryer :( quick walk home after that for me

So here is my POTD - Simple Beauty
