So what's wrong with this?
It's reasonably recommended practice if you want to sell something high value and have some protection (haha protection with ebay...). Also it could be for tax reasons too, making it easier to control it.
I wouldn't call it shill bidding either as you say they are only around for a matter of minutes.
the thing is , they were sold as buy it now, but that doesnt show up on the main page, and it should.
Its very dodgy, seems like they were offered privately somehow
i didnt call this shill bidding, i said theyve been told off before for shill bidding
Maybe the buyers contacted the seller and they agreed at a certain price, then the seller advertised on ebay with a BIN for the buyer.
That's how I dealt with an ebay seller like kerso before.
shill bidding is where people who have no intention to buy, bid on an item to increase its value.

If you think that is strange...

£1500 over new price what a ******
I thought shill bidding was done by the seller with a different account name so they appear to be legit buyers, so the price will go up. They bid on their own item to increase the price.
Is a scam bidder, new member , you can tell its a scam bid...
selling something for below market value is fee avoidance
But surely that is canons decision and not yours, if they decide to sell at that price that is up to them and I bet if you could you would buy one at that price.
whats the difference between doing it yourself under a different account, or getting your mates to do this...

its dodgy because the same people get them all the time, within minutes of them going live, this has been going on for months and months, my guess is someone works on the inside and tips someone on the outside the wink.
It's not "dodgy", but I'll bet I know exactly who is getting them, the same thing happened with the Nikon gear Jessops' were selling on Ebay, all the dslrs were snapped up within a couple of minutes,by one of two buyers. One of them is well known on TP and not for good things.....

oooooh the intrigue , it like an Agatha Christie novel , not that i have ever read an Agatha Christie novel of course![]()
