I hate the forced DR look from Sony sensors. It is fake-ish in some aspects.
Do you have any examples to show this "fake-ish" DR or can you expand on your comment?

WEX have both cameras up for pre order. 5S is £2999.00 5R is £3199 ( body only ). Would be interested to see the difference with and without the filter, although according to the video on WEX site it's not a removed filter but a second cancelling one has been added (?) .
It will be the poor man's "medium format" solution. 645Z has just a little bigger sensor, yet it costs double and lenses are very very dear. I haven't decided if I get either at some point yet. Let's see 5DIV and maybe, just maybe there is something FOVEON like around the corner?
That should be just like D800 vs D800E, and there was some difference giving the E advantage in almost every way. 5Ds should look like 7D II or 760D at pixel level, and 5DsR - somewhat sharper...
Foveon technology is only an advantage at very low ISOs, it's simple physics.Yup, I'd like to see a Foveon sensor, I HAD HOPED THAT THE 7D2 would have that (cap locks a mistake!!)

Yes. At low ISO's. Which makes it awesome, for a few people. But most of us use our cameras at higher ISO's regularly....but as I understand it, Phil, better dynamic range?
only if the DR is up to scratch.A cursory glance at the specs suggests Canon have really lost the plot. An upscaled 7dII sensor is no alternative to a Sony 36mp sensor.
There's interesting stuff with the new AF sensor, but high megapixel at low ISOs makes it a landscape and studio camera, and not an improvement for anyone else.
And the 0.1% that need those requirements would surely be using medium format.only if the DR is up to scratch.
so in other words this camera is only useful for studio proffesionals printing billboards where hardly anyone prints blillboards now.
Nope.Bokeh not creamy, Auto focus a hit and miss, zeiss lenses only good for landscape and not the best for studio stuff? Those are my observations anyway
Surely the bokeh is down to the lens anyway??
Yes, but I thought he was referring to the "quality" of it, ie, smoothness (as better lenses have curved blades and more of them). That's what makes the bokeh 'creamy' as per the other poster, not the body.that and the distance between subject and background. F4 is OK, F2.8 much nicer...but if you want better, get a prime with F1.2-F1.4 etc
More dynamic range.I'm wondering what they could improve over the 5d3, that most enthusiasts would see a benefit from. More MP would equal more noise, which many aren't happy with. Personally Ive been happy with mine for normal viewing
Here are the full res files and they look lovely on my new iMac retina

Rumour has it that the Mark IV might be delayed as Canon thinks the Mark III is still selling well. Super annoying as I don't want to invest in a Mark III knowing that the Mark IV is just around the cornerI've been waiting for the 5d4 for a while now and hoping it would cover my occasional wildlife needs too but I'm not sure the S is going to cover it for me. Might have to wait for the mark 4 which is supposedly later in the year...
