Fair enough.
I think Canon have doomed us initial owners as all we are going to get are questions if ours are one of the first batch and oh, does yours suffer from the dreaded exposure issue when you take an image with the lens cap on?
Anyone who buys a MKIII or any camera does not do so just to shoot a lens cap. WTF.....?
ChrisJ_SLH said:I once took 500+ shots of the my lens cap with my mkII. Admittedly by accident, I had put in a bag still switched on in the boot of the car and something managed to roll and activate the shutter.
Maybe I'll upload them to Flickr one day....![]()
The thing is, is it a problem?
no issue here, the only way canon are getting there hands back on mine is if it has to go off for an issue/service In case this hasn't been posted-
The fix is to return camera to canon service centre after the 10th May
http://www.canon.co.uk/Support/Cons...faqtcmuri=tcm:14-925652&page=1&type=important
I haven't received mine yet, as I'm not in a hurry I've said I want a later serial number not because of the non issue just because when I resell it. Agree if I had already got mine I wouldn't bother to return it till needing a service.
* Some examples of a dark environment are as follows:
1. When the body cap is attached
2. When the lens cap is attached
You said the magic words... "the room was lit".
Any light coming through the lens will swamp the minuscule amount from the LCD backlight and so there won't be a problem.
If you can wait that is fine, though don't let this none issue put you off if you want one now.
I was following the story over on the DPReview, POTN and Canon Rumours forums. Almost all the people making a big deal of it didn't even own the camera, some were even complaining about light leaking through the viewfinder. Anyone who was rational and actually had a mkIII didn't see it as a problem at all.
Many have confirmed that the mkII behaves in the exact same way so if you haven't had an issue with that and the way you shoot then you wont with the mkIII.
I suspect that Canon are only doing the voluntary recall as a public relations exercise as so many people have blown it out of all proportion.

Moving on from the light leak stuff has anyone used the 5D3 with a 100-400 and a 2.0 teleconverter?
I have the camera and lens and I'm looking at getting a 2.0TC3 but heard there were some issues at F8
Can anyone confirm or deny?
Little test out 300F4L attached with the:
1.4TC MKII - OK
With the 2xTC MKII - Nope
With the 1.4TC & 2XTC Coupled - Not a hope in hell
70-200 2.8L IS - All 61Pts
With 1.4TC MKII - OK - Not all points
With 2XTC MKII - OK - Not all Points
Coupled.. nope..
Thanks Chris.
Would you know what the MkIII TC offers over the MkII version in this scenario?

If you happen to be travelling in the area, with a little haggling a 5D3 body (a along with a 16gb sandisk extreme sd card, card reader and a fitted Canon screen protector) can be had from an official Canon shop for less than £2000 in Kuala Lumpur.
Thats a Grey import though.
I hear ya, desperate to get my hands on one once i get home next week![]()
Trust me it will be worth the wait but I understand your desperationI was ready to go and ransack DHL Birmingham when it showed on there tracking system as being held pending payment and all because someone read the paperwork incorrectly :annoyed:

Any news on the bg-11 I miss having grip?
So is Kerso's stuff being from the states and like Kerso, DigitalRev also offer warranty support
Matt
I'm really desperate to order a 5D III but something is holding me back from ordering an import. Am I worrying unnecessarily?
Does anyone know roughly when UK suppliers will be receiving stock?

Do yourself a favour and get it from Ian Kerso http://www.flashcamera.co.uk/canon-eos-5d-mark-iii-digital-camera-body-only/ He imports direct from the states, Canon will accept them in UK for any warranty repair and you will save yourself a load of cash.
He sends them to you from his place in Scotland and they arrive within 24 to 48 hrs. I have bought almost all my kit from ian and we are talking about an awful lot of kit.
