Canon 5D MKIII official owners/users thread, anything related to the 5D MKIII

Got mine this morning.
Absolutely loving it

Got a fantastic deal on ebay @ £2099 with a three year warranty.
I bought it thinking its imported US stock but it turns out its actually 'Canon UK stock'

for an extra £250 and for piece of mind u can grab this camera from digitelrev who are just as fast at delivering the good to u from HK.

i would possibly go for digitel rev rather then Panamoz as doing a BT of nearly 2k is a bit risky!

Can't see the logic in that as the price paying via c/c is only £2141 !

uhh? its 1.95k via BT and something 2.3+ via normal means unless they now charge as u say £2141 via normal means(paypal, credit card etc)?

Not if you email panamoz and get the deal that every one else here has had
xmas comes but once a year and Panamoz is making it twice at these prices
hand in pocket wait 4 days new 5d3 with a gargantuan saving over prices every where

I would be sending an email to dig rev to see if they would better the price I have from panamoz

Cool nice one. i hope prices stay the same in a couple of months when i am ready to buy

hehe, we should rename this the Panamoz appreciation thread, got to say thought the prices are amazing and if they are getting UK stock in at £1K off I don't understand why the prices are not lower here already.

I has got a bit out of hand, I initially replied to Mani Gill's post in which it was said it would be a long time before it fell below £2000, that post being the very day mine was delivered and was then obviously asked where I had bought mine.

As I said earlier I was not certain the offer was a one off so I emailed them to ask if that was case as my contacts were wanting the same deal, they replied here and it has snowballed from that.

The deal and discussion over it would have been better posted in the Shopping, suppliers and Bargains section but with the deal stemming from an email to me I felt it unwise.

This thread is mainly for anything to do with the operation of the MK3 so apologies to the mods or anyone who feels like it has been swamped with discussion about this deal.

No need to apologise at all - you've saved people literally thousands and are to be fully commended for sharing the knowledge.

It was meant an jest - I really should remember the ;) icon!

I was thinking this thread was only going one way now so hopefully we will see more images from the new owners soon.

Not taking anything away from the great price you guy's managed to source..!

No problem at all John, my reply was not aimed at you, I took it in jest and actually my wife and I had a good laugh after reading that :)

Yes, I agree lets get back to the main purpose of the thread :).

Tempted to sell my 7D and canon 100-400 lens to put towards getting one.

That's what I did (along with my 5DMKII)... I don't regret it for a moment although I wouldn't mind having a bit of reach back.

With regard to pictures; I posted a few pictures of my trip to CadWest last week HERE. I can quite happily report that it works brilliantly on fast moving, low-flying aircraft! :D

At long last I had the opportunity to try out the AF. This shot was with the 70-300L and the camera latched on instantly. For me, the AF on the Mk3 is far superior to the Mk2 and 7D (both of which helped fund this body. Oh yes and for the wags (pun) amongst you, it's the rearmost dog that I focused on! :p )

Yeah fair one, back to the camera talk. Be great to see more shots too!

This is a shot I took yesterday, finally got a chance to have a play with the camera and previously mentioned macro lens. I've never shot macro before, I can't believe I waited this long to try it!

Contrast adjusted slightly using the supplied Canon software, my copy of Lightroom 4 arrived this morning so will be loading that on tonight.

I just wish I'd moved the handle of the car seat down as it doesn't look great in her eyes!

Thanks

It's the 100mm f2.8 IS Macro, I'm so impressed with it! Paired with the III, well.... ;)

The L version?

Always wondered what this lens would be like for portrait work.

How could I miss out the most important little capital letter in all of photography!!??

Yes, the L version. Not used it enough yet but I'll let you know how I get on with it for portraits. I've heard / read great things about its portrait use so sounds promising!

Nice one. Looking forward to seeing more from this combo.

lol, did it have to be that very lens... I sold that to get the last bit of money for the body!

Wow, thank you for helping with this, MWHCVT. I was a bit baffled on hoe to download pictures.

Thanks Phil..it was,one of my first outings with the 5D Mark III. A friend asked me to photograph his team,s Little League, game.

another thanks to Mal and Panamoz, ordered the camera Monday this week and its arrived today, amazing service all the way from Hong Kong in 2 days, excellent correspondence with tracking number etc. New baby's just charging up , i cant smile wide enough today. :)

Those look very sharp to me, awesome. Can't wait for mine to arrive. I've jumped from Nikon to Canon, but I didn't really have much invested in Nikon, and to be honest would have liked to stay with Nikon, but the opportunity for a bargain 5d3 and over the top d800(IMO) made sense.

Here's one from this afternoon... A friend wanted a couple of shots for her Facebook profile which gave me an opportunity to do a few more portraits! :D
