Thanks, I just want to check if it's not much I might as well do it as I do travel and don't want it dying on me.dont replace it, i've got one body at 400k and another at 140k, all of my professional photographer friends are north of 500k, only a fool would replace something before it's broken, shutters can just as easily break at 10k clicks than at 100k clicks
incidentally the cost of a shutter replacement is about 150 I think, the part costs £80 and then maybe 2 hours for a skilled technician to do- it's not rocket science or magic, it's just taking out some screws and fitting the part
As far as I know its £252 + delivery costs if sent to Canon.
Not sure about other places but I think £150 is wishful thinking but I could be wrong.

I would never send anything to canon,..
600k, I might use fixation as they are quite close to where I work and I have used them beforeI would never send anything to canon, the repair centre in glasgow is truly terrible
I use a local repair person in edinburgh, if he has the parts in stock he'll just do it same day- and obv the cost is dramatically lower, i appreciate not everyone will have a independent repair shop in their city though
i'd just get a 2nd body as a backup rather than replacing the shutter, just out of interest what is the shutter count,
The new one could also die on you after just 20k clicks.... I wouldn't bother changing it.Thanks, I just want to check if it's not much I might as well do it as I do travel and don't want it dying on me.
Whereas I wouldn't send my kit anywhere other than Canon, Elstree.
maybe the service centre in the UK is better, it's notoriously bad up here in Scotland, maybe that's why there's a cottage industry of repair technicians dotted about, idk

I was wondering if paying £800 is worth it, but I did buy it just now as worst case I will pay £270 which would make the total to £1070 for a brand new camera, as visually it is almost mint...Canon quoted me £160 as I sent mine to them when the shutter stuck up, but in the journey there the shutter freed and they couldn't find anything wrong with it. It worked perfectly, so they gave it a service and sent it back.
Is OP looking to knock the price down on the camera, or just be aware of the price if needed?
Fair enough I do agree with the point, if it breaks I will change itLots of other things have the potential to go wrong of course - not just the shutter. That's the risk we take with used equipment. I do think it silly to replace something that hasn't broken though. You could argue that the battery has been running power through the PCB for several months continuously as it's been used for product photography, and the circuit board might die soon, so it might be better to err on the side of caution and get that changed too? (Yes it sounds a bit daft - but trying to show how daft it sounds to replace something that's not broken - that if replaced could break in 20k clicks or less...)
Canon quoted me £160
Too much sun... I meant the shutterI'm confused, the title is "shutter replacement cost" and your 1st post is "how much to replace the sensor?"
You're not sending anything to Canon. You're sending it to A J Johnstone & Co Ltd, who are an independent repair business authorised by Canon.I would never send anything to canon, the repair centre in glasgow is truly terrible,
They speak the same language.
