So...another vote for the original, 5D which can be had these days for between £400-500 and is an absolute steal at that price.

Or alternatively stick with your 24-105 get a 5d and whack the ISO up, the 5d is good for it...
Just payed £380 on Ebay for what seems to be a very nice 5D, complete with grip!

Had thought about a D600 but sadly that seems to have sensor dust issues, amazing for a camera release in 2012, wonder what else Nikon have skimped on in producing this model!
Want to use mine for landscape photography and am looking at FF w/angle zooms, had used a 17/40 L in the past, but found the edges indifferent at 17-22mm.
Wondered if any body had used the new Sigma 12-24mm, is it any good? Am a bit wary about any Sigma non-macro lens, should I be with this model?
Curious if using old manual lenses, such as a Zuiko 24mm f2.8 with an adapter gives you edge to edge sharpness?
I have a 5D in the classifieds if your interestedgreat camera !
Well, no. It isn't. f4 will never match the shutter speed of f1.4 at the same ISO and there could be times when f4 even at ISO 3200 just wont be enough.
I once did some available light comparison with my 20D+50mm f1.4 against someone with a 5D and a f4 L zoom and the 5D owner was shocked to see my combo producing the better results.
Apologies, misread original post, thought OP already had F4L zoom!
Well I was thinking of upgrading my 50mm f/1.8 lens for an f/1.4 but curiosity has the better of me, and so I am going to try and dip my toe in the FF waters.
Budget is a little tight, but with a 28mm, 50mm and 100mm I have a nice coverage of lenses to suit hopefully, all I need to do now is find a suitable 5Dc without sacrificing my 40D just yet!
Good luck, I hope you find one and I hope you're happy when you get itI was using mine with a 50mm f1.4 today and it was a joy.
I've had it for years now so it's not the very latest version.
I have no complaints and it seems ok to me but I don't tend to pixel peep so I can't really comment too much on edge to edge performance other than say it's ok for me.
If it'll help at all I'll fit it to my camera and take a few shots at different focal lengths and apertures and either post the results here (but please keep in mind that they'll be via photobucket and that site does mangle shots a bit) or email the RAW's to any address you'd wish them sent to.
Just let me know if/what.

Is there any way of adding GPS functionality to the 5D?

That's a nice picture![]()
What's the AF like on the old 5Dc? How would it compare to something like a 450d for speed and accuracy?
Mine will be used for motorsport, there are obviously quicker cameras, but it's quick enough. I had a trial run at the Festival of Speed earlier this year and it was fine, probably not as quick as my D90 (although that was coupled to a 70-200 2.8 AF-S, which was the quickest lens I've ever used) but not slow enough to be particularly noticeable,

I took my 20mm f1.8 out today for the first time in quite a while.
