I would like both lenses, but can only afford one at the moment. I will be using the lens for weddings and portraits, which one should I buy?

I'd go for the 24-70 based on the fact it's a faster lens. BTW I am a 24-105 owner, if you get and 24-70 and don't like it I'd swap2.8 beats 4.0 every time. A f2.8 or f1.4 for that matter can stop to f4 but a f4 lens can not get wider. You may want to consider a prime for your intended purpose as well as IQ will come up with a prime.
