Canon 1DX - Official Owners Thread

Finally sorted and mine is going to Fixation on Friday. What are the chances of them doing a sensor and mirror clean FOC as I have asked I wonder?

this photo is at iso 25600 f8 1/2500 (done deliberately as a test shot)
straight out of the camera, nothing changed and still set at factory settings ( only had it a week ). i'm impressed with it, i think the 1dx will impress you too

iso 25600..unless thats a 100% crop then it doesnt tell anyone a lot as reducing a 1dx file at any iso will make the pic look ten times better ..plus high iso isnt a lot of use in good lighting :)

Umm why? It's still relevant to the thread. People would like to see shots of the relevant camera in question.

It doesn't help one jot, youre shooting in good light so noise wont show anyway, shoot at night or indoors on poor light with plenty or reds and greens at ISO 25600 if you really want to test the cameras ability

and if the first photo is the original just resixed then theres no way the second is a 100% crop if its just 800 odd px wide

I dropped mine in to Fixation on Tues. it was ready to be picked up on Weds. (platinum member) just checked the sensor & it was spotless so they must have cleaned it FOC without being asked. :)

Sent both of mine off to Elstree on Monday and have just got them back, so not too shabby for a gold member :thumbs:

Comments state "checked and lubricated drive mechanism as per web announcement"

I probably won't notice a jot of difference, but at least I have the knowledge that it's been checked over and the likelihood of a future failure has been reduced.

It's all about having confidence in your gear, I guess :)

Sry like I said I was just trying to help, as for the crop...that's down to my inexperience at taking 100% crops, I just loaded the original in ps, zoomed in till 100% then took a crop of what I saw.

But as seems what I have done is of no use whatsoever I'll shut up and not try to help anymore.

have you learnt from our replies as to ISO and its use in tests?.. hopefully you have so try not to be such a big baby about it :)

I am gold too. Filled form in last week and still not heard a thing about it.....
Given my first one died under 500 shots (pcb, shutter, mirror box) and had to argue that waiting "up to" 3 weeks for parts (apparently at that time all spares only in Germany for dx and this followed a week of promises of next day) meant an exchange was in order... so far not too impressed with the cs at Canon these days :(
 
sent mine in for a repair on monday.,. got a call about how busy they are.. got a replacement 1dx on loan delivered today.. well impressed with cps here:)

Tony, did they offer you the replacement or did you have to ask? When I spoke on Monday to Elstree they said they couldn't guarantee return by Fri (today) even though I'm Platinum, offered to send it to Fixation instead, but I'd rather have Elstree do it, however that won't be for 6 weeks as I need it till then.

Only time I've had a replacement under CPS was when my 70-200 mk2 went in and they didn't have the bits, loaned me a mk1 but I had to chase.

Wonder why they have such a backlog, has it made a difference to anyone's camera when you got it back?

Especially when frankies email said " potential problem with a small number of units. "

Beginning to become apparent that majority seem affected methinks :(

..and is the fix more than they are saying?......perhaps they only have one technician doing it.

She offered... mine isnt in for the fix.. that was last week.. went and came back,, this is for an unrelated problem.. went monday.. she phoned and explained how busy they are and would it be a problem not back in time.... i said no problem for this weekend but i need both my bodies for football on tuesday.. she immediatly said they would send a replacement and it arrived next day.. today :)

Did you notice any difference before/after the fix....hope your other problem wasn't too serious!!

When there is some relevance to the thread rather than just posting willy Nilly images as you do in the 5D3 thread !
 
Just heard that mine is done and will be delivered on Monday... Took 5 days for non CPS... not bad...

7 days and counting and not picked up yet. Gold cps, seems cps not meaning much these days lol...

I've had mine back a week now and have noticed a differance in the AF speed and accuracy, the shots a sharp sotc.

The other thing I have noticed is I have not needed any micro focus adjustment where as I did before it went in for the fix.

Well, that's interesting, I can't say that the AF speed and accuracy is anything but excellent at the mo on mine, my only prob has been with BIF and I suspect that's my technique (or lack of it!!) and the settings of the af system, with which I am currently experimenting, however there's a lack of puffins round our house!!!!

re MFA, frankly I'd be amazed if that's changed, do you use FoCal?...at least that takes operator error out of the equation!

Interested to hear your further comments and anyone else's.

I haven't checked it with focal, I don't think it needs it the shots are sharp SOTC.

Got mine back today. Going to try MFA with Focal to see if there are any improvements on my 16-35L II.

Think they must be, finally had an email offering pickup on or after 16th but only to fixation, asked to be elstree and that is 18th earliest, both with caveat of 3 to 4 day turnaround plus poss 2 days either end for del.
So all told almost 4 weeks from form, to fix, and return for cps gold here.

Just does not tally with Frankies original assertion of a "potential problem with a small number of units".
Would rather companies were just honest from the outset if something affects large numbers, trying to play it down always gets caught out and just makes them look bad imho.

Converted this normally extremely pro canon user to an agnostic anyway.
 
Mine was back quick.. but it went last monday for a fault and still isnt back.. they sent me a loan which was rubish so have sent me a second loan.... would ahve thought mine would be back..over a week and am platinum supposed to be 2 days.. but this ones working now so clicking away like nobodies business hahaha :)
