I think you need to get one with at least the same speed as card1 otherwise the camera will transfer at the slowest card speed.....................I think.
That's true, the default write speed will match the slowest card. I used to pop the SDHC card out of my 1D4 if I was doing something that required a rapid buffer clearance....5D3 owners beware.I think you need to get one with at least the same speed as card1 otherwise the camera will transfer at the slowest card speed.....................I think.
got to be looking at 32gb min pretty sure you ahve mentioned big cards in past gary?
Only bigger cards ive used were Duracells but no fast ones, 266x i think. possibly 300x
Tony, if you figure on 15Mb/s being equal to 100x then you'll be in the ballpark. 300x therefore equates to 45mb/s.hmmm the problem with different cards is different speed thingy... ie 300x? but sandisk is 30mb/s whats 300x compared to 30mb/s

I didnt realise that.. i didnt think you could do it one way.. claim it without paying it? I 100% dont know.. just doesnt sound logical.
I know.. but I save buying from kerso.. I saved £500 on the 1dx and a simmilar amount on my 400mm lens ..would be great if i could save that and get 20% back but it doesn't happen
this should all be made perfectly clear soemwhere instead of people wondering and asking and maybe getting different answers.. why cant there be summat official from canon on this ..
If that's a 400/2.8 MkII plus 1DX, I'm guessing you'll have spent around £13k, so maybe £14k from a regular UK supplier, including VAT? In which case, after you'd claimed back 20% (£2.6k), you'd have been £1.6k better off...
Rip-off Britain ain't such a rip-off when you level the playing field. I don't know how this VAT trick works that the grey importers seem to pull (if only because none of them will own up) but the fact remains that if you're VAT registered and have a VAT receipt for business expenses, you can claim it all back.
Edit: I'm not implying for a moment that there's anything illegal going on, it's a legit tax loophole. Something to do with the retailer's registered country of residence and the supply route if I was to guess, but it's only a guess and I might be completely wrong - but reclaiming the VAT is real enough for sure.
Many companies import through Luxembourg to make use of that country's reduced VAT rate (15%). Once it's "bounced" there, it can move freely within the EU with all taxes paid. It's a small country with a small population and an inordinate amount of large freight aircraft coming and going.

You may be surprised to know that I have this combination, George....I'll await the update and test to your spec.Right, I would like, when the update becomes available, for someone to stack a 300mm 2.8 mk1, a 2x mk3 and a 1.4x mk 2 all together and tell me if it autofocuses...!!
Thanks for the heads up Ken.Good news for 1dx owners.

I didn't shoot it but I was at a night cycle race recently and thought about how impossible it would have been on the 1Dx with no illuminated af point trying to follow a fast moving cyclist in the dark. :bonk: Now these night/dim light sports will be so good with the 1Dx.wahay...after a disasterous night boxing last week because i couldnt keep track of the af point having to constantly move it.. this is good news.. shame my boxing in oldham tommoirow just got cancelled![]()

Will it be enough Tony as the illuminated AF point is only lit when shutter half pressed, when you take finger off the half press you lose the illuminated AF againyou can pretty mutch judge using center point.. but somehting like boxing where center is useless for every shot and you need to keep switching left/right or maybe center then you get loist as you havent time to be figuring out where it is.. as really hard work.. my worse set of boxing pics ever
looks like everyhtings gonna be alright..![]()
Yes, Paul, and I was told by Frankie Jim at the Canon show in Islington last November that it would never be possible and he explained at some length why that was so...This is great news. The two major complaints with the 1Dx solved in one go. So much for Chuck Westfall's comment 9 monyhs ago that focus at f/8 is not possible due to the design of the new AF system.
Thanks for flagging this up.

you sprang to mind immediately, Bob, was actually going to PM you but thought it might be of general interest. Will it be enough Tony as the illuminated AF point is only lit when shutter half pressed, when you take finger off the half press you lose the illuminated AF again![]()
will it not illuminate with the back af button pressed?
I suspect that statement may well have been accurate and based on the hardware in the prototype/pre-production bodies. This is great news. The two major complaints with the 1Dx solved in one go. ......
The negative reviews of the MKII AA filter cock up forced them into the MKIINI suspect that statement may well have been accurate and based on the hardware in the prototype/pre-production bodies.
The weight of negative reviews could possibly caused Canon to re-think and alter the angles of the AF sensor pairs...hence the release date delays. Finding the correct algorithms for the focus control would then add more delays but the bodies could be shipped with firmware to follow.
