Auto AF point selection = off
EOS iTR AF = Off (unless I am shooting people in good light this one is pointless).
arnt those two the same thing?

I'm not completely sure as I am still trying to learn what it is that iTR does exactly... but for now it is of little use in my workflow so it stays off.... that may change once I fully understand how it works.arnt those two the same thing?

Let's see how spot metering gets on in the venues this weekend.
I highly doubt canon have solved the issue but hey ho.
Don't do it!!! (unless you have 2 1 Dx cameras).. Better to test those things in your own free time... not while you are working!!! :rules:

I'm now 99.9% certain I will be ordering one very soon, hopefully next week so I can have it for when the Tour of Britain is in Nottingham week Monday.

A) 70-200 f2.8 IS mkIII
or
B) 70-200 f2.8 non-IS + a Sigma 85 f1.4
A and B come out about the same total price. Is the newer 70-200 and IS worth more than adding an 85mm for headshots?![]()

You are pretty much confirming what Ivan has been saying about the 1Dx.
I wonder if on the first day Ivan sat at a game chimping....and just giggling wiht delight![]()
I did my first football match with the 1dx this morning.. I am now sorry I put the 1dx on the 400mm as it turns out I was wrong (not a new thing I know) I said the 1dx on 400 would be counter productive because of losing the crop... Not so.. its not that mnuch difference at that distance and I was shooting the full length of the pitch and getting better results all round than the mikIV
You kinow what this mean![]()
That's my plan for tomorrow Robin....300 on one body and 200 on the other (and a 1.4x in my pocket).I'd like to see photos of rugby and football with the 1Dx and the 300/2.8 IS (mark 1) and whether people feel it's limited in length.

For 95% of sports my standard setup was a 300, although a 500 was nice for rugby, not essential though.
Can I ask why a 500 for rugby? I'm assuming you used 300 for other field sports?

How did you get on Bob?
I tried today with 200/2 + 2x. The tracking was great, the focus speed was great but they were very soft. With sharpening they will print absolutely fine at 9x6 though.

That's simply not true Vaughan, I'd have to get rid of my 135/2.8 Soft Focus to help fund it.Any excuse to acquire more gear Bob, any excuse.![]()
That's what AF micro adjustment is for. I always do on the fly AFMA before every session.
