Canon 100-400 f4.5-5.6 L IS II USM v Sigma 150-600 f5-6.3 DG OS HSM

I was just stating that I am happy with the canon & glad I changed from the sigma. I'm sure the op knew what I meant as he has ordered the canon.

What have I started?

I made my decision, thanks for the help in getting there.
Let's let the thread die now before trouble breaks out!

LOL

and ps. I still haven't got any of them - not until tomorrow do i get my mitts on it.

First off some of you need to start having 4 weetabix for yer brekkies. ,I use a sigma 150-600 sport ,I use it for General birding and have it on walkabout all the time sometimes I'm out all day and mines coupled to a not very light canon 1Dmkiv .
Now the thing is I'm fast approaching 72 years on this planet ,if I can do it you young sprites should manage ,also remember if your talking about reach then coupled with a suitable body the sigma will take and work well with a 1.4 tc giving a native 840mm. At f9 and I use the dedicated sigma tc and it doesn't even know it's there's no loss of speed or I.q either ,these lenses simply cannot be compared to the old 120-400'lenses either that have been thrown into this thread simply worlds apart .think hard it's your money

As someone once said, the best camera is the one you have with you. Based on that, I think I'd be more likely to have something the size of a Canon 100-400 L with me than a 150-600 Sigma Sport based on size alone. For a start, the 100-400 would fit standing upright in the camera bag I carry my stuff around in (in fact I keep looking longingly at the empty compartment I'm saving for it and telling myself it will come down in price eventually if I'm patient enough!).

The 150-600 Sport wouldn't fit, so I'd need a separate case for it and I'd have to carry that around with me too if I wanted it with me. In the end that would annoy me, so I'd only take it out when I thought I needed it... then Sod's Law would dictate that I wouldn't have it with me when I actually did! As you can tell, I've given this subject some thought, and I believe the best lens is the one I'm likely to have with me, or at least near me in my camera bag.

Your train of thought is exactly like mine was and the 'it fits in my bag' factor was a major influence....I even mentioned it a few posts back!
I know that if I'd got the Sigma of either flavour, it'd not have been on the camera when i wanted it and I wouldn't be arsed to take it out as often as I'm likely to the Canon.
So it was a lot more sponduliks? As a previous poster pointed out - life's too short...choice is made - thanks chaps (and chapesses)

...or, buy a new bag for it as I did when I bought the Sigma [emoji3].

Actually you'd be surprised, it fits, attached to the body, in a Lowepro 400aw alongside a load of other lenses which I see recommended by users of the 100-400 ironically.

Seeing how he has already taken the plunge and gone for the Canon 100-400 II, ....
