Hi all,
I'm sat here in my tent on a camp site near Stonehenge, logged onto the internet via the sites wireless network, as I write this post the electric kettle is on and i'm watching the German guy opposite set up his satalite TV dish.

A far cry from years ago when i was in the scouts when entertainment was watching brass monkeys searching for someone who could weld.

I'm going camping next week.

I'm leaving my pc at home, and my satelite dish (if I had one), and everything else that I take for granted at home.

Campings what you make it !!

I'm going to be roughing it !

can you post us a pic of what you can see Dave please, it would be a first I bet

we love camping it has changed greatly over years, from old canvas tents to all the mod cons and now internet connection cool

Have fun

What a hideous holiday. I'd rather stick pins in my eyes than go camping.....

reminds me of holidays as a child. My mum & dad were in the motor home all cosy and I was stuck outside in a pup tent with my vile brother who consistently put creepy crawlies in my maggot bag.

i went camping last weekend on the beach only electricity we had was a car battery wired up to a car stero so we could have some music :) still finding sand now

When I started camping my tent was 6x4 ft canvas / wooden poles & plastic ground sheet, if you rolled over during the night you ended up out on the grass :D

Present Tent, view from master bedroom :)

you have the main ingredient, beer :D

I love camping, would rather be in a tent than a hotel! Lake district in september!!!!! :woot:

That looks a wee bit like ours. There's only the two of us but I like my comforts so I bought a 7 man tent, fits perfect :D

That's my philosophy, I go camping/motorsport/photography with Minigub and find that we just about squeeze into a 6 man tent

Thats never been camping! Go to a REAL campsite, it's much more fun sharing the shower with bugs and insects :D

used to go camping down newquay every year until 2002 when on a wet morning after feeding the dog a nice fresh cornish pasty the night before i awoke to find its sick about 1'' from my face. on the way home we stopped and bought our very own pickey palace and havent looked back.
just upgraded to our new van. fixed double bed, microwave, 22 lcd with CD/DVD player and freeview lush:thumbs:

Hey, that's my line! :p

I used to love camping holidays. Sailing my boat... getting fresh milk out of the churn... walking a mile to the nearest water stand pipe... freezing my balls off at night. hehe Happy times. :)

Bet you didnt get far in that dinghy!!

I do think camping has improved since then heppers.

Camping should be done far away from civilisation, preferably in the middle of the hills:) The mere thought of gadgets intruding on my peace (bar my wee radio) is just unthinkable!

I've currently got 2 tents - a 1-man Terra Nova Laser Competition (weighs in at a mere 860g)

and a 3-man Blacks Octane 3 (comes in at a paltry 2kg)

Looks great reddeath...but wheres the plug for my hairdryer? and heppers....dont worry, you dont need one

 We are heading off to the Lakes camping on Friday morning :woot: We are camping right next to the waters edge of Ullswater. It will be compromised camping for us though. I'll be sleeping in the car (I have to sleep sitting up) while my hubby sleeps in the 4 man tent we have had for 10 years  But I can't wait to wake up and open my eyes to a view right out over Ullswater :D Then enjoying a stove cooked breakfast before making the most of the beauty of Cumbria.

Oh and I have recently acquired a Dongle, and an in-car charger for my laptop. I need something to keep me entertained during the wee hours when I will have trouble sleeping

Absolutely love camping-but these days I also like a 4star hotel. Then again at the cost of your average camping holiday now-why not go 4 star lol. We went last year for a week and holiday cost me a small fortune.

We have only ever been camping once and it chucked it down the whole week and that put us off for ever.

we love camping, and dont care if it rains, not in a tent though, when we first started we had a small 2 man tent, soon got rid of it thought and got a campervan, where on our 2nd camper now, weve had it a good few years its an oldie, it was a total wreck when we got it I had to strip it all out put a new floor and wall, and we bought an donor caravan and used the interior, my sister made all the curtains and upholstery, our son is going to put a new smiley face bonnet, grill, and bumper on, and its having a full respray in a few weeks I have some before and after photos somewhere Ill root them out

Oh happy days, still got an old Army bell tent somewhere, needs three people to carry it and about as waterproof as on old sock

I am not sure if camping of any kind is the way to go these days..

If your in a tent....well, your in a tent. Shoes soaked and muddy off at the zippy door, no security to your tent stuff could be nicked not that you will have much.

If your in a caravan . lovely getting to see different places but by the time you take into account fuel prices its a fortune to go anywhere..

Campervans have got to be the worst, you hook up get your van set up leveled, water, electricity.....and then stuck....if you want to go anywhere you have to pack it all up, and do it all over again when you get back on site..and fueling a big heavy tank costs a fortune...you could have luxury hotels with semi naked massage women

Just un-hitch the 125cc motorbike from the carry rack, and off you go,

indeed...but if your going to use your campervan as a caravan then why not, well buy a caravan:lol:

you could use your car rather than your flymo bike which you cant really fit your family on

Camping is great.................:naughty:

That's got to be a plus for camping fans ;)

I'd love to have an american style campervan. They are huge, with side panels that open out. A real home from home. Of course you couldn't afford to run one these days :D

Hubby and I used to camp in a little red two man tent...even spent our honeymoon in Wales that way!! We progressed to camping for softees when we had the children (Eurocamp...France....wonderful) where everything you could possibly want...cooker, fridge and basic sprung frame beds, even high chairs and cots were provided. You still got flooded out when it rained...and had to use the communal showers and loos ......but thats all part of the fun.

Now I'm older and a bit creaky in the joints, so I prefer a bit of comfort. My dream is to own a campervan, put the motorbike on/in the back and head off into the sunset with hubby and our cameras.....but that was before fuel costs went through the roof!!! Might just have to re-think that part of the dream  B&B sounds the best bet now.

This thread should have a NSFW appended to the title.... I've just scrolled down to be greeted by pictures of CARAVANS!

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH!! are you people mental?

The only good caravan is one that's on FIRE!
