Camera stolen at wedding - gutted *Update*

Thanks for all the support, it is appreciated. The bride and groom are aware of what has happened and the fact that there are missing images and they are fine about. Apparently the police and the hotel are liaising with regards to CCTV footage but I'm not holding out much hope due to the limited coverage.

On another note the insurance company have been very good to date. They e-mailed me the claim form yesterday which they received today, it has been outline approved and they are waiting for quotes from suppliers which should come through later today or tomorrow. I have been pleasantly surprised by this turn of events as I thought it would take weeks to get sorted and so far I cannot recommend Aaduki enough and in particular Darryly Probert who has been dealing with it, in his words "We understand that you need to get this sorted for work and we do everything possible to get a swift conclusion", so a big  from me if it is sorted soon.

The 85mm from Lenses for Hire was also insured (luckily) through their own scheme and Stewart has been dealing with that end of things, the only downside is that I have two lots of excess to pay. :shake:

Glad that the insurance malarky is running smoothly for you

Are you going to write to the local newspapers? If they're anything like ours, then their deadline is today for copy.

Might be worth trying?

Brilliant news that the insurance is getting sorted. I'll be watching the progress with interest as looking to sort insurance soon.

Well thats something eh Colin? Keep us up to speed :)

Dont give up hope at not getting it back my son had his Canon XL1 stolen from his fron t room. Would you believe that 6 months later the idiot tried to sell it to cashgenerators. Lucky for my son he kept serial numbers and a very accurate discription of it.
So fingers crossed for you.

glad to here the insurance is working out for you
as you say well done to them!

hope it all gets sorted soon
have you managed to source another body as I guess you need that PDQ?

Also, another idea...

Were any guests filming their own footage furing the day? They might have captured the person on it, or even better......they might have even filmed someone stealing it

Just found this thread and not read all of it. My thoughts exactly Marcel. The good thing about a wedding is, everyone and their dog has a camera or camcorder, and as a bonus, they never stop taking shots. It would be in the B&G's interest as much as yours to recover the camera. I'd ask them to contact all guests and have them trawl through all the pictures/footage. I would be very suprised if there is no clue on there somewhere.
Sorry if this had already been suggested, but I wanted to get the info up asap.

Ian.

Thanks Mike, apparently the nominated supplier will contact me to arrange all that.

I must admit I was a bit nervous about the claim as some insurance companies don't have the best of reputations but so far so good.

I am with Aaduki and although I have never claimed from them I always have a good vibe with them, its why I went with them to begin with, something maybe worth looking into though - I seem to remember when I took out my policy that I was asked if I hired lenses, I didn't, don't, havn't yet but it would be interesting what the cover would be for, maybe the excess ?

barstewards.
hope the lens falls of and spears them in the nads.
my worst fear is having kit swiped at a wedding.
were REALY funny about where we put our kit down.
one of us is always watching kit if the other has to put stuff down.
really saddening that people will do stuff like this.

I would just like to say thank you to those who have contacted me via PM offering me the loan of equipment until I can get a replacement. It is gestures like this that restore your faith in people particularly after what happened on Sunday and also shows the prevailing attitude of this forum.

Thank you again, it means a lot.

Thats' really good to hear Colin. :)

Meant to say I thought of another one to check,...preloved.co.uk is catching up on ebay for selling.

I'd happily lend you any bit of kit I own but being a mere canonite none of it would be any good to you but pleased to hear of the heartening response you have had.
