I am just waiting for delivery of one of the 100-200's, paid £45 for it and a metal bodied 35-105. These give very good results as well, some of the optics are shared with the 70-210 beercan. The good thing is everybody wants the 70-210, so the others are usually cheaper.

The 100-200 and 35-105 have just turned up and they are in great physical shape, will have to wait until I get home to test them fully.

I also have a 70-210 beercan which is currently up on Ebay, if I get the chance over the weekend I will take identical shoots with all 3 at 100 and the 100-200 & 70-210 at 200 and post the results to see if there is much difference.

Yep, this one is much better on the outside and completely clear on the inside to.

Okies.
I've got fixed up now or else I would have had it off you....I lost out with the last one (just as well going by the above description!:lol::lol:;))

Good luck in the sale

Honest guv there was nothing wrong with it !!!! Optically and mechanically it was fine, just a few scratches and the rubber was a bit faded, the new one is one of the best I have seen, just a few marks were the hood reverses.

Unlike one of the other 'beercans !!!!!!' on there at the moment:thumbsdown:

I've bought mine from a long standing member on the Dyxum website. He sent me three high res piccies of it the other night and other than a tiny little mark on the plastic aperture window (which I doubt I would have noticed unless he pointed it out to me) it's like new.
Complete with both end caps and the hood.
Looking forward to seeing how it performs
Rob

I had a little play with my metal bodied 35-105mm last night, very good but the AF minimum distance is a bit oo err..1.5ft.
But yea nice lens, I got a good close up of a Chicken Kiev ()
A beercan would be nice but I've only got £50 to spend

Well my two new lenses arrived today, and I've been out in the garden and had a quick test with them.
The Beercan is in fantastic condition and a couple of hand held test shots show it to be everything I was hoping it to be.
Pin sharp, even at f4 in low light and I can't wait to try it out in earnest on the tripod with something decent to capture.

But it's the 35-70mm f4 that has absolutely amazed me!!

Bear in mind I picked this up for £25.00 (less if you take the postage into account) and was included in the deal as an extra. I didn't know anything about it until the guy said he would include it in his original deal.
I hate to say it, but my initial impressions are that this is even better than the Sigma 17-70 I have just purchased.
It's not quite as quick as the Sigma to lock focus, but when it has the results are soooo sharp it's unbelievable.
Unless I know I will be shooting group shots indoors, this is going to be the lens that stays firmly attached to the camera I think.
It really is that good.
Rob

***THIS THREAD IS WORTHLESS WITHOUT PICS***

:D

You don't really want to see the crap pics I took do you?
They were of "nothing"...just testing the lenses out Stan.
I'd rather wait until I get something decent for you to look at mate.
But trust me......that Minolta 35-70mm gives the Sigma that you and I rate so highly a real run for it's money mate.

Early days I know Stan, but I consider it to be the best £150.00 I've spent on the hobby to date.
I'll try to take some decent piccies over the week-end and post 'em up but time could be a bit short 'cos I'm working tomorrow.

Yo.
Congrats mate, sounds like you had the bargain of the century!!!
Looking forward to some sample pics!!

I am looking for a Sony fit TC. Dyxum shows various ones including a 1.7x. I can only seem to find new 1.4x and 2x ones.
The lens I want to use it on is an f4.5 and according to Dyxum you can only use up to 1.7x on this.
Does anyone know if this is a hard and fast rule ? i.e. is might the 2x work ?

don't quote me,but....

i don't think it will autofocus over F/5.6 although you could probably manual focus with the 2X T/C.

Just for info I am selling a few Sony related bits of kit over on AVforums , might be worth a look.

Quite a few members on here are members Stan even some on the dedicated Sony Alpha thread ;)

Thought I'd add my name to the list. A100 owner with a growing amount of kit but still lacking the knowledge to use it well.:(

I thought you've sold your phony sony.....You're part of our Nikon club now buddy! Welcome to the dark side.....

I'm not going to get a chance to take some "proper" pics tomorrow as I'm out on the bike, so I took a few snaps whilst cleaning it.
First three are with the 35-70, last one is with the Beercan.
Apologies for the poor subject matter but it's all I could find at short notice!!

Had a quick go with all 3. All taken at 1/2500 and f7.1, ISO 800, I forgot to reset it.

First are at 100mm, in this order 35-105, 100-200 & 70-210

Then crops of the above in the same order

Next, 100-200 & 70-210 at 200mm

Again crops of the above.

decent macro lens for alpha100 ( not expensive ) if there is such a thing:thinking: cheers mark
