I want to know what program you all use with .ARW raw files?

Aperture/Capture One pro/DxO Optics/Lightroom/Photoshop/Image Data Converter SR?

Capture One or Lightroom 2. Rawtherepee is excellent, but its buggy lately.

I have a special colour profile for my A900 as Adobe don't get Sony colours right in ACR / Lightroom but its fine after the profile is installed. Lightroom 2 handles Sony high ISO poorly. My A900 is quite clean up to ISO1600 in Capture 1, but blotchy chroma noise in LR2.

DxO is dire - nasty nasty software.

Does the special colour profile is made of your own? or someone can be download from the web?
As wanting to get my A700 right in Lightroom too as I find lightroom a lot easier to use.

Thanks

Hi,
Which of these two would be the better choice in 70-200 f2.8
Alan

I have just bought the siggy and it's as sharp as you want.

Also, I've heard the Tamron's AF is slow(er) thus would be rather useless for rallying (wild guess that that's what you want to do with it).

Thanks for the reply do you have any images you have taken with it I could see?

I'll try and get some up today, only had it for about a week (hasn't been to the stages yet), I'll try to get some good examples of the sharpness.

Wide open 200mm f/2.8 near and far (infinity) is always a good test of the Siggy.

A poor sample with a have a veiling "halos"

My Sony 70-400 SSM just arrived (Thanks Mark aka "stan the man") - very quick test shows that its going to be a very very decent lens on the A900. It certainly seems to better than either the Nikon 80-400 or the Sigma 80-400 OS, and way better than the 70-300 SSM (but it should be for the price!)

Hoping to give it a good outing this weekend - I know that its the glass behind a system that makes the difference not the body, and Sony has some damn fine glass in the CZ 16-35, CZ 24-70 and this 70-400 "G"

:)

andy..glad they've arrived safely...the 70-400 is indeed a belting piece of glass, and i'm damn sure you won't be dissapointed with it.no doubt there'll be times when i wished i'd have kept it,but not enough use to warrant keeping it..

Anyone used Ian Hobday on Ebay? He's got a lens on there I'd like. Seems to do a lot of Minolta stuff...

Not used him myself, have heard many good things and no negatives on dyxum though.

Oh, and which one? He's got some lovely lenses in at the moment, as is almost always the case. Had him on my saved sellers list for ages, occasionally I'll look at his stock and drool!

Bought a diffuser off him some months back and was delivered ultra rapid. No problems at all.

Thanks folks - I'm seriously looking at his Minolta 300mm f/4.

No danger of me buying that one as I've already got one :D

On another subject, those thinking of going to Focus might want to know if there are any bargains to be had, so here's what I remember ..

at Jacobs:
ZA 85/1.4 £809 (I might have bought one :naughty: )
ZA 135/1.8 £899
70-200/2.8 SSM G £1099
35/1.4 G £ 749 (I think. And it might have been at cameraworld not Jacobs)

Cameraworld:
70-400 SSM G £1049
ISTR the prices on the 16-35 and 24-70 Zeiss zooms were very reasonable as well, but don't remember what they were.
CW also had the Epson 2880 for £449, if anyone fancies an A3 printer.

Neither had an A900 on the stand, last year both had them at £1499.
