You said that after the 24-70 ;)

yeah,i did didn't i

seriously though, what with christmas..the recent disaster at home, which i know is mostly being covered by my insurance, but jackie now has ideas for the lounge which is gonna cost a bit,and seeing as we're having to re-do the lounge...might as well keep her happy, especially after what i've spent this last year ;)

Looking for a bag for my new A300, really conflicted between something that will just hold the camera, that I can put inside a rucksack or a whole camera bag that can hold my camera, an additional lens and all other accessories.

I'm also looking for a second lens to complement the kit lens, I've seen the two "cheaper" Sony Zoom lens, which are the 75-300 mm and the Sony 55-200 f4-5.6 DT Lens which are similarly priced, just wondering which one is better?

How much do you want to spend Chris?

Well I'd rather pay a bit extra than have to fork out even more in a few months, I have seen the Slingshot AW 100 for around £40 on Warehouse Express which I liked the look of.

The slingshot would certainly hold what you want it to. I had a slingshot 300 but couldn't get on with it in the end, not easy to just through over the shoulder. There are lots of rucksack type bags out there, best thing is to go out and try some out. Most shops are happy to let you "try them on" and if you take you kit, they should let you test the interiors too. That's how I bought my vertex 100, a bag I can thoroughly recommend but costs a bit more than £40. ;)

I'm not too worried about spending more than £40, I'm a bit conflicted over whether just to buy a case for the camera that I can bung in my current rucksack or get a dedicated bag as right now I am only going to have the A300 body and the kit lens and nothing else really.

Well I am already planning my first lens purchase a Sony 75-300 or a Sony 55-200 so I would probably be better with a seperate kitbag, although maybe even both in the long term so that I have my bag if I am taking one lens or my camera bag if I am taking my lens and all the kit etc.
Aside from a CF card, what sort of accessories should I be looking at for my A300?

I have a variety of bags, including a crumpler and a sony alpha bag which get used mostly for when I'm only taking a smally amount of kit, eg TP meets. And I then have the aforementioned vertex which I generally use for paid shoots.

As far as accessories are concerned, a cleaning kit is usually a good idea along with a rocket blower (Boring I know! ;)). Other than that, get anything you may need as you need it.

If you are planning on doing any flash photography, you may want to get a flashgun (onboard flash is pretty useless to be honest) and maybe a reflector. You can get one of those 5-in-1 pop up reflectors from ebay for about £6.

I have a lowepro renzo 160 for camera and kit lens and a lens case attached to the side of it, that holds all my kit but once I get a grip I dont think It will I would get a bigger bag if I were you.

Cheers again Fabs, yeah I was thinking cleaning kit would be a given, always fancied one of those blower brushes, used to play with my dads when I was a kid! Use to drive him mad!
I will probably leave a flash just now, its mainly outdoor photography that I am interested and I would rather invest in lens rather than flash to being with anyway.

Whatever you do, don't use a blower brush on your sensor. Dust collects in the brush and you then end up blowing it onto your sensor. Get yourself a rocket blower.

Cheers, thanks for the advice, I will get a rocket blower, I think I should buy a book so much to learn!
