What is wrong with car boot sales?
I've been to several and I've never seen a car boot for sale!! Scammers the lot of 'em!!!
What is wrong with car boot sales?
I think the trade on that would be around £980
I feel a lot easier now. I just spoken to him on the phone again and he admitted it's the same lens.He said he bidded it up himself then won it, had to pay £60 fee's and left feedback for each other.
.
He just texted me saying his girlfriend found the receipt. Bought from Jessops on 4th April. Still sealed...
Is that enough to go ahead with it?
He said it's still sealed. I'll take my 50D along and give it a good testing! I'm not an expert but hey. It seems no dodgier than buying any lens off eBay now, as-new with a receipt.Has anybody considered the possibility the lens is kippered? maybe it's not working properly and he want to get shot of it, that could explain whys he's got it back once before too.
Either way it sounds iffy to me, as others have said if it's nicked and he gets caught you'll loose the lens, and I'll be very supprised if you get your money back from him after.
I'm quite comfortable about this side of the story now. He said he lied just in case eBay found out, and then when I enquired he admitted it straight away. Before then we had only spoke for literally 2 minutes before I asked. If there's a receipt...it's hard to argue I guess. And if he's letting you pick it up from his house thats a bonus. Though admittedly I'd be hesitant after reading about the 2x 14-105 lark.
Ask for the date code and look here:I'm quite comfortable about this side of the story now. He said he lied just in case eBay found out, and then when I enquired he admitted it straight away. Before then we had only spoke for literally 2 minutes before I asked.
Can anyone explain to me how to check date codes? I want to make sure it's around the April 2009 date. I have no-idea how to do this...
I think there is 1 for sale on eos classified @£700 is it the same one?
Bob
Would this number be on the box? It's sealed so he said he can't look at the lens!Ask for the date code and look here:

Too slow![]()
Can you PM me the thread as I'm banned from that section. I'd like to verify... Is there any images? What's his username? When was it posted?I think so as this states bought from Jacobs and he now says it's from Jacobs. If it is still sealed and after double checking it everything is as you think it should be, seems you may have a good deal - esp as you have the receipt, so in theory full (remaining) warrenty
Personally, I have no idea, however, I assume it is just on the lens.Would this number be on the box? It's sealed so he said he can't look at the lens!
I've bidded stuff up in fairness and I'm a genuine bloke who has never scammed anyone...

It's their choice if they want to pay that amount. No-one is forcing them.Is that right? what about people who have paid over the odds because of your shill bidding
What?
I guess there's something wrong with me then. I have no idea what you're on about. If you can't see the irony in that then there's something wrong with you

I have looked on E-bay lots of times, but the whole idea of buying gives me the collywobbles

Yes, but I don't want to get the code off him now as that'll involve HIM opening the box because I see it! The previous poster said 'ask him'you are planning to open the box before handing the money over

Nothing wrong with you...I've bidded up things for friends before and had them return the favour....not often, but I have done. No-one's forced to buy anything at auction....
What, to buy in? GTFOOH!
What's wrong with it is that it is dishonest and against the terms of the contract with ebay.
Have you thought of becoming an MP?
