breast feeding week

Sounds like a photo journalism opportunity to me - I bet lynton and the crew go along ... just to ensure appropriate coverage of such an import event, natch ;)

I've always been a bum man, but i wonder if its a link between boob men and whether they were breast fed or not? :)

I suppose its okay if you (that is the mother) expresses milk to use for the purpose ... using formala is a bad idea though imo

note on this if you are expressing milk for a feed FFS label the bottle - my mate chris once made a round of coffee using the breast milk that was in the fridge because the bottle was unlabled

to be fair it tasted okay at thetime, but when werealised what he'd done it was a bit

I tried breast milk when my partner was expressing, i thought it tasted lovely.

I always wondered what Madonna was singing about with "Express yourself". With all these kids she's got I guess I now know.

This needs to be spoken really, but anyway:
Madonna goes into a flower shop and asks for a bunch of flowers, she doesnt mind what they are.
Florist goes "Orchids?"
Madonna says, "No, just flowers today"

well i'm a legs man , so i'm not sure what that says about me

They're just boobs. Every second person in the world has them. Chaps are always gonna "fnar fnar" about them, so no real point in being precious about it

Dave happy birthday! :-D[/QUOTE]

Thanx verry much :)

I'm actually working with a pregnant girl in the office at the moment. I'll let you know how she reacts:D

Ah well, that worked out well. I'm still licking my lips:D

I'm currently breastfeeding and honestly, I don't know how mothers who formula feed cope....summit wrong? Have some milk.... hungry? Have some milk....tired?? Have some milk....bashed your head when you fell again? Have some milk.... ;) I admit that I hate nursing in public when lots of people are around, going about their business, but children's comments can be amusing. Only ever had 2 experiences so far, where I felt truly uncomfortable though.

It was national BF week only 6 weeks ago! Dear me.

Never understood what the sexual obsession with breasts is, tbh.

Well when I did biology at school, they were classified as 'erogenous zones' - of course that idea may have changed in the last 25 years

I seriously feel I lost out with 12 years of catholic education.

yeah but they taught you to be a good girl - that's invaluable ;)

There's a big mass-breast-feeding event in Norwich somewhere, where lots of women are meeting up to all breast feed at once.

Now, while I'm pro-breast-feeding, and don't understand why anyone is remotely offended by it. I find that idea, a tad creepy.

Blimey, I assume they all have babies - or something - to feed?

My wiifes exactly the same, the boobjuice is the miracle cure for most things.
With regards to feeling uncomfortable, we've had the odd occasion where people are funny about it, but since I'm as wide as I am tall, they tend to leave it alone.
While at work, though, we have a lovely little room tucked out the way with a nice little sofa, heater, lockable door should you so wish for those that want to use it... but its tough as hell telling mothers about it without them thinking I'm on my soapbox and telling them to hide it, but given a lot of the reactions round here (locally, not tp) to breastfeeding, I cant say I'm surprised.

It's an international event - happening all over the place. There's one in Northumberland somewhere.

Fair dues. I see absolutely nothing wrong with a mother breast feeding her child anywhere but it happens every day all over the world, naturally. What's the purpose of making it a "day" thing? Do (western?) women generally feel uncomfortable breast-feeding in public? (Honest question - I've not idea what the score is.)

There does seem to be quite a stigma... out of the entire antenatal group when my lad was born, only my wife stuck with breastfeeding past about three months... some for reasons like going back to work, though one lass moved her kid onto formula immediately because it was easier, and she couldn't be bothered.

Oh Mads, that room sounds like a dream! It's all about how it's asked and perceived, I suppose though. I've never had the courage to ask an establishment (other than the local grocer, who I visit twice a week, lol) if I could nurse there, I've usually just sheepishly looked for somewhere to sit, out of the way if possible. LOL. I've only had one person, other than family, be funny. A couple of family members strongly disagree with breastfeeding and frequently make their opinions heard. :(

I hate nursing in public. Little one gets distracted, making it more of a challenge (and more likely for little one to bite when distracted, or lose her latch). I also like attention drawn to me on my own terms (anxiety issues) so even when people just generally look at my little one, in her pram or carrier, sometimes I'm uncomfortable. The thought of someone saying something negative scares the life out of me!

The only issue I have with people feeding in public is (and this is only since my son came along) I get all dewy eyed when I see a baby now, and if I suddenly notice they're nursing, I always feel like I should say "I'm sorry, I wasn't staring at your boob, honest".

Yep. Nuns....priests...and not a decent costume party in sight.

Haha, yep

I don't really see what the fuss is about, it's a natural part of what it is to be human.

When the pups were born they were on the mother's titties, I've even got a picture of them.

:)

my father was a nun

whenever he had to fill a form in he'd always put
occupation : nun

:coat:

You know, thinking about it (nothing to do with anything on here, just recalling fairly distant memories), we British blokes are ******** when it comes to things like attitudes to breast feeding in public. If the awareness raised by the special day and related activities makes us blokes think a bit more then it can't be a bad thing.

Oh, and I've learn't new meanings for "nursing" and "latch". :D
