Bolton Abbey - Sun 26-11-2006

mmmmmm that was the highlight of the day, the Strid people didn't get that luxury. mmmmmmmm cookies.

(I did quite well instructing my hand to be polite and only taking one :D)

So glad you did - I ate it on the way home... (NOT the hand) :naughty:

How I wish I could have stayed longer :'( I would have liked to have got to the Strid or had a cookie ! When I asked if I could attend I'd forgotten the in-laws were visiting today. There would have been h*ll to play if I'd not been there.

If the welcome I got today is the norm at these gatherings I'm certainly going to go to more. :) Thanks to one and all :thankyou:

Heres a collage of my day......

Hi there Diane...I think that's your name lol...what a great way of showing off your work! We did have a really lovely day out and what a friendly bunch we all are too! Looking forward to the next meet already :)

I must admit they were very nice. Not sure where Matt's warped tastebuds have been, thinking there was mint in them...lol Must be all those scones that have knocked it out of sorts...hehe

Shame we didn't get to the strid to get some shots.

I think it was Marianne that mentioned how lovely the place would look covered in snow.
When the weather starts turning and it starts snowing, I think I may have a drive out there again, I agree it will look fantastic under a blanket of snow :)

Re: Today. I'll say again though. It really was great to meet everyone. Such a friendly bunch of people. One of the best meets I've been to with regards to people getting along and chatting

Looking forward to meeting you all again (I'm going to put an order in for a half dozen cookies, a cake, and a couple of jars of jam next time B&M, so be warned :D)

You're very welcome Diane :) Glad you could make it.
It's a shame you had to leave after lunch, as the weather got decidedly better.

However, looking at that collage, you came away with a great selection of shots from the morning

Hmmm - to be honest Marianne was a little disappointed with the Cookies, they weren't up to the usual standard (maybe the don't travel well)....

Looking forwad to the next meet ourselves. It's always good to have the characters you've envisaged through the 'net really come to life! Mind you, I'm regretting calling myself "Chuckles"..... my cheeks a aching through all the smiling I've had to do....

Now - what jam?

I've joined the 'Funny hat club'

BTW, I told hubby about some of the journeys that had been made to get to Bolton Abbey. He was very impressed, even more so when I told him an American lady had joined us. ( I did, eventually, tell him she lived in the UK  .)

23 (almost 24)

Think i might have been the youngest actually mate ;), i'm not 24 until March 07 so i think that made me the :baby: of the day.

Some great shots coming through guys, ive got my negative scanner in the post so hopefully will add mine (if they are any good ) If you don't hear from me again i ruined the film developing it lol :cuckoo:

[edit] its also great that i think i managed to evade all but 2 photos of me woohoo!! :woot: [/edit]

Well I think it was a really good meet, and I look forward to the next one. I wasn't half aching last night though, not too bad this morning, a little tired but not too bad at all.

Had a great day out at the Bolton Abbey meet.

I've only just joined talkphotography and it was very nice to be welcomed by everyone there. Really enjoyed my first meet and hope to be able to come on some more (perhaps when the weather gets a bit warmer!)

I didn't take many shots on digital, so don't have much to post at the moment, but will hopefully have some b&w shots when I get the film developed tonight.

Here's my favourite of the abbey (from what I did shoot digitally) and a collage of some other bits and pieces from around the day.

lol a photo of me that looks half decent in that collage ^^ i wonder, does that mean i have a wide-angled face? :suspect:

Well, I just got home (from visiting family, not from the meet!) and am now back in the South. It was great meeting everyone, although I'm sorry we didn't get to see all of you (torrential rain and a 5 hour drive meant that some of you had left before we got the chance to say hi!).

Marianne - you mean I missed out on homemade cookies??? I'm disappointed now :'( :p

I have to say that Bolton Abbey is a beautiful place, very scenic, and I agree that it would look lovely covered in snow, although the 5 hour drive kinda puts me off :gag:

Glad you got home ok, even if it did take you a long time. Hope you had a good time with family, and look forward to seeing your photos both film and digi

glad you're back safe Cheryl...I'll make some ever betterer cookies for the next meet!

We're just off to the Theatre to see Gervase Phinn using the tickets I won last week...
