Bolton Abbey - Sun 26-11-2006

Barry and I are looking forward to seeing you all.....apparently I can carry on sleeping in the car on the way there! Well that is what my chauffeur erm Barry has just said

I might sleep whilst my chauffer does the same ;)

She probably wont read this till after the event too as shes at work all day then we're going to her mum and dads tonight.

Hmm, now I've got auto cruise and the sat nav. If I can just find a way of auto steer I can have a nap on the way there too  :cuckoo:

Oh she'll be using the Sat Nav (if shes remembered to pack it ;) ) - she usually just keeps it in her bag nowadays though.

I think its only an extra 10 minutes or so from her mum and dads than it is from our house the strange way it works.

Right, I'm away from the PC from tonight till when we get back from Bolton Abbey so if anyone needs to get in touch, my mobile number was in that pm.

Alternatively.

(to copy spencer's idea from the dorset meet thread)

See you on Sunday morning folks.

nod

weather.co.uk (which I've found to be more reliable than BBC weather) has Sunday down as being "mostly sunny" for Skipton.

Sue and I, and a few others will be there from 9am. If you're not there till later just give me a bell and we can all meet up.

Should get some fairly decent early morning pictures with any luck :)

I'll be setting off at about 07:00, AA says trip is approx 2hr so 09:00 should be O/K.

Weathers looking good too.

Right guys I'm off, see you sunday, Txt me or phone me if you need any more info, I'll try and check the site when i can but can't guaruntee anything.

I'll probably be there (with brassneck in tow) but will not be staying to late as I have to drive down to Southampton that evening :(

Does anyone who is going have a Canon EF 70-200mm f/4.0 ? would love to see what one feels like (is that being a bit cheaky?)

I'll have the 70-200 F2.8 with me if you wanna play with that.

I'm at Bolton Abbey now and the weather is terrible, hope it gets better for Sunday. Slagging it down with rain now though.

Okay, I think my Girlfriend and I are going to pop along as well. I haven't been out with he camera for a while and I've promised to take Em shopping today so she's authorised my application and signed my form... I'LL BE THERE!!!

Forecast for Sunday, but don't be put off. At this moment although it's pretty chilly the sun is shining and it's dry. The paths and walkways are maintained by the estate and provided you aren't thinking of wearing stilettos you should be OK.

Yes an hour can make all the difference, Sunshine but cloudy now back at home..

Fingers crossed you should be ok..:)

are you going to be there tomorrow Tim? Barry and I are planning our picnic right now!

Well I'll be wearing my walking boots, but with a pair of jeans. Don't think there will be a need for waterproof malarkyness.

Although I do have a brolly in my camera bag just incase.

A good tip for everyone, if you have them...bring a couple of elastic bands and some clear polythene bags (Sainsburys extra large food bags are ideal ;)). Incase you get caught short and want to keep snapping

I'm also bringing a flask. Not trusting anywhere to be open for a cuppa.

So we're meeting in the main car park. What time? I'm planning on setting off early anyway and scouting around for some early morning landscape shots along the way.

I'm coming on my own too, so if anyone wants a lift from around Bury / North Manchester, lemme know.

I think the target is 9am as that is when it opens but if you get there later just call DS's phone to check where we are. Weather is cold but sunny at the moment so fingers crossed!

Not sure Marianne, I am having a new Plasma tv delivered tomorrow all being well...:)

Have a good time everybody! I want see some pictures of someone falling off the stepping stones into the river!!

yeah someone else mentioned the stepping stones, as long as my kit stays dry I'm not bothered about getting wet.

Quite excited now, I'm not packing a picnic though :o

Bloody hell...that'll be me then   I'm gathering quite a reputation at these meets ;)

I won't be there until later as leaving Aldershot at 7am and it normally takes a good few hours. I have Matt & Marcel's moby numbers though.

Fingers crossed for the weather, no rain coat, someone left them at home :( nevermind, have brolley in car, so that will have to do.
Looking forward to it, my dad has asked for pictures of me falling off the stepping stones, and considering the bottle of wine i just drink, and rumours of port shortly he could well be right :)
See you all tomorrow.

Well, have just worked out the route (or should I say TomTom has!) and it's going to take us about 4.5 - 5 hours to get there  If the weather looks really bad, we may give it a miss. I'll decide when we hit Yorks.

Wish I was going... Have my fingers and squidgy bits crossed for the weather for you.

The wife, kids and the CAR are up in Leeds for a long weekend.
Had I any holiday to spare I would be too, but I've gotta job to do .... buhhuu.

Best wishes.

Paul

We're all getting wet tomorrow.

Hmmmmm, should we go home before coming to bolton abbey and grab the waterproof coats?

it'll add a few miles and 30 minutes onto the journey but it could be a good idea.

Didn't we decide on this meet for you in the first place? :p

Thats fine though, if anyone else wants to drop out because of the rain just let me know, will hang about here for a bit and i've got my mobile on me.

Wow! just seen where Aldershot is! I have been down to Henley-on-thames a couple of times in November (which is closeish) and then back to Skipton, and yeah it is 4 and half hours! its one heck of a treck.

I will be there no matter what weather, got a new supposedly waterproof jacket to test :p

For anyone looking for early morning shots (whilst dodging the rain) This is where I will be. Noticed it a few times when driving past. Its a big reservior with 4 windmills behind it, with the right sky it will make a fantastic photo. If it is chucking it down I am gonna take a drive up the road past Bolton Abbey to see whats happening further up.
