Blondie606's Photo52 2011-Wk 52 Glass & Nature,Challenge Complete

hi lynne.. SAFE raised the hairs on the back of my neck... somethign SAW like about it...still good shot though..

and as for safety in numbers i read into the ducks? that does look familiar :D

Thanks Kev...never thought of SAW but now you mention it....& yup the ducks have been out before

Hiya Lynne,

Well done on both your safe shots .... talk about learning something new every day.

The night vision has worked well on the lock and the photo of the ducks is spot on!

Well done

Cheers

Dawn :)

Thanks Hun...appreciate you popping in

The lock does it for me  I like the colour, the composition and the DOF. Not sure on the ducks though :D

Hi Joe...thanks for dropping by.......the Ducks was a bit of a joker....but apparently does hit the theme...always learning

I love the Safe shot, Lynne. The night vision effect, depth-of-field and focus on the lock are just..... spot on! :)

Cheers

Many thanks Stan

ps....Still baffles me that shots I think are pants get good commets....

Week 46....boo hoo...nearly at the end at now...always next year though

Had 1 idea for this theme , luckily was going to an event that fits my idea of Living.....I somehow doubt that others may feel the same :D I did wonder if this theme would turn out to be as contentious as Abstract but so far peace seems to be holding in the 52's rank

I've struggled to narrow it down to 1 shot , thought about a montage but nah....
Living life at full throttle.......

Living d by llj666, on Flickr

(think the crop went a bit squiffy )

Then , out of the blue I came across the following item & immediately thought....

Living Free......

Living 1 by llj666, on Flickr

So there ya go...my 2 takes on free....ah , what the hell...off to sort a montage

Wow, #1 is living....some cracking detail and movement. I'd like to see a difference composition, but I guess him/her travelling at mark 5 was an issue.

#2, yeah, poignient that so many years have passed and slavery still exists in some countries. Crop needed and I had a go.

I've had a go at PP on these but won't post yet.

Cheers and well done for beating the rest of the duffers....:D

Cheers Andy.....will never understand this composition malarky  It's a bike on a beach going sideways....guess I could've cropped the foreground abit more...but didn't want to ...he's got space to ride into & I love the sand spray from the rear wheel & the sea in the background......what'd I miss ?

As for the coin...yup it's central...didn't see the point in having empty space to one of the sides....what'd I miss ?
C'mon mister....show me what I should've done...one of these days I may even get it right

Cheers Kev....trust me....the thought of buying a cheapo bike to go sand racing is lodge in my noddle....cheaper than road racing as well

tell me if you ever do it...i'll come along and take some shots JUST to show you how you're burning that sand up

andy.... the coin yes.. brilliant focus the ye on the words and year... but the biker i think you've taken too far.. too yellow.... but then you were working with a jpg so limited

Hiya Lynne,

Well done on Living shots .... love the montage and the title which suits it fab.

Like Andy's crops too, especially the coin which brings the subject more to focus.

Great job, you sure have been a busy little bee

Cheers

Dawn :)

Finally I'm in time to comment on one of your photos.

In the montage I like the second shot down of three bikes on the left hand side, and the shot on the bottom far right of two bikes, my two favourites.

I like the ideas behind both in how they fit the theme. I also like how the end of slavery coin works on two level for me, first as you said living free from slavery, but also living under the slavery of money. Ironic?

Not about what you should have done, only what I've done. Personal preference

Thanks for posting these up Andy.....Noooo Noooo for the bike shot I'm afraid though

However...the coin....thats interesting...I'd not have thought of that crop ( & I wanted to show the whole coin, mainly 'cos I've never seen one before with that image on it ),I just never seem to see alternatives

Thanks Dawn....just about caught up with my last couple of weeks togging ! Glad you like the montage :)

Hi Sam...thanks for dropping in...like your thought on the Living under the slavery of money...nice one

I think the montage is a better shot for the theme than the others.
Andy's crop is good on the single photo.

There are always multiple crops in any photo....neither are more right or wrong than others - photography = art = personal preference...

I think the main issue with my edit is I've totally messed up the colours...:shake:

But I do think it shows lynne how the colours could be.enhanced on the original file...

Thanks for that Jeff...another of my blind spots is seeing alternatives...but then help is always at hand on here ....just to make me go..:bonk:

Lynne I rather like your montage. Generally I find montages a bit....dull but this certainly isn't

I really miss motorbiking as you really know you are alive on a bike :D

Hey Tina never knew you were a biker ? What did you have ? & more importantly why've you stopped ? Mind you I can talk...the bikes taking a back seat to the camera these days

Hmmmmm...the colors in my original shot were as they were ( if that makes sense )....it was very misty day & all the colors were very muted....even after this last year of learning on here I still try to avoid tweaking colors too much ....The vignette is growing on me though :D

The wife of a local farmer tried to kill me! She got six points and I got a lot of NHS hospitality! C'est la vie but I am alive and can photograph

i guess the question is Lynne, do you shoot in RAW. because there are a lot of tweaks, subtle that might work, not necessarily in the colour directly

Hi Kev...yup , shoot in RAW...one day I'll work out why ...think I was once told it gives greater flexibility for editing....which I'll one day learn how to do properley

Ever had one of those daft moments......

You know what I mean.....light bulb moment.....

I had 2

Spent ages trying to get that dam clear bulb clean ! Can't belive how many surface defects there are that can't be seen with the naked eye....or with an 18-55 kit lens...took the macro to see those blighters :D

Had to tweak the brightness a touch in the 1st one.....quite pleased though....3 ND filters, mega low ISO , quite fast shutter speed & average aperture....
Absolutely no idea why I wanted to shoot a light bulb...but there you go

Hi Lynne,

Those are very apt for the theme and I quite like them for the fact that are 'what the meerkat said'... simple.

I reckon the first one could do with little cloning out of the 'artefacts'

Well done

Cheers Stan....I don't do cloning

Super exposures on the light bulbs. number 1 my favourite. Also number one on your living attempts.

Great stuff

Many thanks Joe

Been having one of "those" sundays...no ooomph at all :'( Blowing a gale outside n darn chilly to boot .

Thought I'd try a reshoot of Pair....still not 100% happy but their growing on me ...

Pair Reshoot 1 by llj666, on Flickr

& yes...was bored , so spent some time experimenting with picnik...wanted a hint of color , muted , in the frame

Pair Reshoot 3 by llj666, on Flickr

Not gonna be to everyone's taste...but if I've learnt anything in the last 12months , it's that each to their own :D

& on to Cute.....had a hundred ideas when I saw this theme...lack of animals & children soon knocked most of them on the head though

Still suffering from a lack of any ooomph I went for an easy option...my idea of cute... & continued to play in picnik...

Cute 2 by llj666, on Flickr

Cute 3 by llj666, on Flickr

This one I'm really not sure about...but what the hell , I'll post it anyway

Lynne ....sometimes there can be TOO cute....and these are just that. Love the lighting the composure...the bears... I'm using bear...singular... A single bear.. But nothing like your great effort..

Cheers Kev....must confess though....I only twigged on to these cuties 'cos I remembered your piccie in Movember ....the bear in the window ...so thanks for that

Oh..so I do have some uses...and that bear is cute...maybe I'll rethink my shot...

...and lynne.. about your reshoot of pair... the one on its side works well.. the one pointing out at me looks fat (wide) and wrong.

maybe they both should be on their sides... or from above? i think shoes that have heels can be shot from the front. because they can have depth. but these look low riders and it doesn't seem to work.. .. sorry

blondie606 said:
No worries Kev...not totally happy with them myself...one of those images that I can't transfer out of my head in to reality :bang: Still , the shoes are'nt going anywhere so more time for reshoots

I found what set my oktoberfest shoes off was the slinky scarf across the foreground. It wasn't what I had in mind but it worked...
