I love abstracts from landscapes. This reminds me of the work of the artist Peter Watson. Ace.

Catch up time

Rock - good technique and the mono suits it well. I agree with you about the left rock - strange really. The pano crop works very well and adds to the interest I think

Pair - prefer the colour , the negative shot does nothing for me. The colour is so delicate and you have emphasised this by the use of the subtle pastel, mottled b/g. Really nice shot

reshoot - the flower shot has good quality and I agree with others about the 'sketch' type feel, altho usually I prefer colour for flowers. The bee is super -- good detail and colour and dof

Shape - on theme and good feeling of 'explosion' as it seems to come towards the viewer. Again the colour for me.

Plenty - #1 is a decent action shot but the b/g spoils it for me.
#2 is more my idea of the theme. Like the angles, the colours and how they are appearing above the hill. And I like the height of the trees behind.

I can't make up my mind about #3. Seems a bit of a nothing shot and yet others have found interest in it so I am a bit bemused.

Plenty #2 for me (if I imagine the watermark out of the way). I like #1 a lot, the body position is lovely, but the angle make it look like he's running out of road, which makes me a bit twitchy.

Really liking the bike shots Lynne, shame about the watermark but guess it's best for them type of shots


The second could take a good bit of cropping from the top for me - but you have caught the Action in the corners really well, with good colours and detail

Yup , got fed up with people just downloading them so big watermark just makes it a little more difficult


When I've posted in the motorsport sectioned I was advised to try & include more of the area to make it more obvious which circuit it was taken at....& that shot could only be Cadwell...but I take your point

"lean angle" is great, nice and sharp, mostly greens with the splash of red on the kerbs drawing the eyes to the rider.... that wheelie bin is a perfect subject for the clone tool though.. Can't recall if I've seen mention of you being a dab hand with this or not.. 10 mins spent gets rid of it pretty well. see >>here<< for my quick effort. (slight blur added to far BG and near FG too.

I quite like the non straight rows, adds a bit of interest, converging lines, nice greens. Think you have to fight the OCD sometimes or they will just get stronger and start to limit what you do.

Week 29 & now we're on the downhill slide to the end

Sort of lost my mojo a bit , haven't really wanted to pick the camera up this weekend for some reason

Bought these a while back ,being sure I'd find a use for them at some point during the year.........a combination of gusts of wind & fairly weak oasis meant the bloomin things kept rotating out of position...this was my best attempt....

Despite loosing points for not being first off the mark for this idea I like it...but my eyes are a bit puzzled about the DoF... I mean logically I am thinking the sharpest is in front, but it appears smaller and then the other two at the side are pin sharp in the centre.


I particularly like these on the black background though

Plenty - I'd have to go with number one, I think perhaps the others match the theme better - but I much prefer number one as a photo! Always tricky balance with these 52 shots! I second the comments on the bin in the BG though. Shooting at f29 will mean that you won't lose much detail in the BG, and I don't think it's helped you here with the bin! I do like the composition and the colours come through nicely too!

Speed - The arrangement works I think! Black BG really makes them 'pop' too, nicely done! I think the static one works well also, as without it it wouldn't be as obvious as to what they are? Are they actually arranged like this Lynne or is that 3 shots you've stitched together in PS?
p.s. extra points for having the foresight to buy these a while ago knowing they'd come in useful for your 52!

Colours really work and there is a real sense of speed in the shot.

Plenty: It has a bike in it enough said! Fits theme well. Also like your crop one, im surprised their not equally spaced as its all done on tractors.

Speed: Works well for me, like how they are placed and the amount of blur on them.

Nice sky, looks great in b+w and plenty of things going on.

Week 23, Size,
really like this one, lovely subtle colours and well focussed, just a tad more dof to bring the bugs legs into focus,

Week 24, Process,
Nice colours again, a little tight on the crop for me, but it works.

Week 25, Rock,
Certainly the first one out of the 2 for me, I find it better balanced.Looks super in b+w and I really like the sky.

Week 26, Pair
Nice and simple, well composed and lit and I like the framing you have used.

Week 27, Shape
The clean bg really sets the allium head off, works well in b+w and I like the composition. I prefer this to the other version, that one doesn't really work for me.

Week 28, Pair reshoot
Thats nice. Really like the conversion and I like the positioning of the flowers.

Both shots are very good, I find myself preferring the first, nice tight crop on the single rider makes him/her stand out.

Week 29, Speed,
Very nice, great positioning of the windmills and I like how have them going at different speeds. Nice colours too.

Thanks Andy....f29 ??? I have no idea but suspect it was yet another senior moment I knew the arrangement wouldn't be to everyone's taste but wanted to stay away from the obvious layout....

Hi Chris...bit confused over the DOF thing...I wanted the centre one & the centre of the other 2 to be sharp so that worked...not sure why the centre one seems smaller though ...maybe because of the motion & that it's a little lower

Finally...someone likes the arrangement......one shot with all 3 in...not smart enough to stitch 3 images together I have lots of foresight...I have 2 bags of stuff that I've bought knowing they'll come in handy at some point this year

Process, Nice DOF and I love the pretty pink flower. It works for the theme and I didn’t notice the pointy bits behind the bloom until you mentioned them!

Rock, cracking shot, lovely contrast and foreground detail, the cloud really draws my eye into the distance

Pair, is that cheating? I really like them as they’re very calming, could make very nice greeting cards. I like the B&W ones but the colour are more pleasing on the eye.

Reshoot, I have to go with below. Having stalked these little buggers nearly the whole time I was on sick leave I know how difficult they are to catch in focus, you’ve done a great job here

Shape, again I’m going with the colour version. Lovely contrast between the straight and the bits on the end. I like the varying DOF.

Crit, well I can I can understand watermarks, but have never used them myself. On this one I feel it does detract from the cleanness...and it would be very easy to clone out due to the plain BG.

Anyways, just my opinion and you've produced the goods here

WOW...thanks for the mega catch up Marsha ,I know howbusy you are currently so it's much appreciated .: My siggy on the bike shots is simply to make it less attractive for them to download as bikers tend to be ,how shall we say .....frugal is a good word I think . I have no objection to sending them high res copies but I object when they don't even ask !
