weekly Blondie606's 52 2013 Wk 52 Water-The End :-(

Good take on the theme. Like the lighting and details in the bubbles.

Good thinking!

I really like the white on white on white feel, with the sharp contrast of the red and green really jumping out.

Oh my goodness Lynne, I seem to have missed your thread big time too! Sorry about that!

Sin, The lighting works really well in that, really gives it an atmosphere.
Season, Great idea, good dof and composition. Like it.
Gravity, Like it, the blue is really bold but it works very well. Kind of like the one with 2 glasses in a bit more.
Wild, Super b+w and I really like the lone tree, A great sky too.
Space, A tricky subject, very well taken.
Work, Nice idea and certainly fits the theme.
Gluttony, Looks yummy, nice pic.
Time, That clock is reallu nice, the colours are nice too.
Juxtaposition, Ideal subjects there, well taken.
Letter, number 2, I like that a lot. Just seen letter 1, thats excellent!
Electric, Very good, Like the middle one on your flickr.
Direction, All really good, I like the arrows on the road and those signs look great.
Tacky, I almost want this to be a triptych for some reason. Like the matching colours you have put in your border.
Greed, Both pics work very well.
Value, Looks good, bg looks a little pale in places, but that could be my screen.
Angle, Both of those are great, can't choose between them. Must try photographing bikes at some point.
Rustic, Nice pp and picture, the border is growing on me I think.
Kind, Didn't even think of that sort of an idea. Nicely taken.

No crowbar required Lynne, I think it's on theme.
Technically very good, sharpness, well lit and composition works well with the bubbles framing the bottle.
As someone mentioned above, could easily be a product shot.

Good work Missus

Hi, as I recall Kind was an integral part of the advertising for Fairy Liquid so on theme for me.

Well composed and good detail. I know the labels are what they are but you lot have given me OCD and their not aligned...nowt yu could do about that, though. Sme nice soft light would be good, but, I appreciate time is limited with you. You need more staff :D

Hope your trip to the NMA was fruitful.

Cheers.

Thanks Andy...getting to grips with lighting will happen one day I'm sure :)

Spot on theme.

I like the way the bubbles sort of frame the bottle but still stand out against the background.

Cheers mister

Hi Lynne :)

Kind - Good idea that, nicely lit and Very Bubbly

Thanks Dk :)

Great Idea and I am impressed that you were able to make it interesting. Well done

Blokey comment - (what is it by the way )

C'mon Brian. It's shampoo :)

:rules:

Hi Lynne

I think thats fair enough for the theme, the crowbar has been out this week I used it myself :suspect:
I would maybe have tried a darker BG just to bring out the bubbles but its not what you were aiming for.

:cuckoo:I agree who is coming up with these themes

Cheers Allan....think we only have ourselves to blame for these theme's..though I'm sure Andy came up with some of the harder ones

Fairy Platinum? Well la-de-dah, very fancy! :D

Nice idea though Lynne, and well put together. I think the bubbles blend into the background a bit too much on the right, but otherwise a solid product shot.

Asda special offer..couldn't refuse at £1.00

simple idea cracks tricky theme...

works well for me, nice and bright but still keeping detail in all the bright bubbly bits, good and sharp on the bottle, and the only bit I'm left wondering on is whether the top should be open or not.....

and if that's all I'm wondering about - it must be a good 'un!

Thanks Graham....never thought to open the bottle top :bonk:

Hi Lynne

Kind - on theme for me even tho the advert jingle was 'Now hands that do dishes can feel soft as your face with mild green fairy liquid' -but that old crowbar never gets chance to get rusty:D

Tough shot with that lighting and I wolud have chickened out and gone for the black b/g. Well handled - good bubbles, good colours and excellent sharpness. Good point made by Graham about the open top.

Ayyye....I was working on the basis that Soft is Kind....did I mention the crowbar :naughty:

I'm just waiting for the parallel to be drawn between washing up liquid bottle caps,..... and toilet seats..

Lynne's maid won't entertain anything but the good stuff :)

as washing up is an evil necessity I might as well try to look after my skin....I don't do gloves :D

Just passing through :D

Why 13 seconds?

Good question Jeff....there were many many reasons , too detailed & complicated to go in to....on the other hand .....Mr Nikon made the choice :D

Good take on the theme. Like the lighting and details in the bubbles.

Thanks

Cheers ,glad you like

Week 19 brings us Vertical & a Re-shoot.....funny how you see verticals everywhere but when it comes to photographing same & trying to make them interesting

So decided to go for a simple obvious option....then decided to mess about :D

Option 1...growing vertically...obvious take on the theme , quite hard to shoot straight up ( didn't want to risk lying on the floor cos there's lots of doggy dooos about :gag: )

Wk 19 Growing vertically by llj666, on Flickr

& for fun I did a vertical pan....at least I tried...couldn't find a totally straight tree so looks a bit on the squiff...but still like the abstractness of it

Wk 19 Vertical Pan by llj666, on Flickr

Next up was a reshoot...sooo many to choose from but Angles sort of just happened

This one from Tropical World gardens yesterday afternoon in the company of Andy ( cheers for the lens loan matey  )

Wk 19 Angles with shadows Re-shoot jpeg by llj666, on Flickr

& this one from today in Clumber Walled Garden just before the heavens opened !

Wk 19 Angles Re-shoot by llj666, on Flickr

So there you go...oh yes...things I've learnt with these....

Shooting shadows is addictive
be careful lying down in the woods...doggy dooo's
Make someone smile everyday...today I made several cyclists smile as I was shooting up the tree's :D
British weather is bloomin frustrating

ttfn

Hi, Lynne, Vertical #1 for me. The greens are stunning, as is the detail throughout is great. Well composed as well. Crit, very minor point is the bright bit at the very top. Yeah, like this one.

Vertical #2, quite like this one, especially the leaves at the bottom.

Angles #1 for me. Quite abstract and minimal. Shadows are great, aren't they. Crit, well, I'd like to see all the shadows are sharp as those in the center.

Cheers.

Hi Lynne :)

Vertical - The first one for me by far, would have liked the main trunk going up the shot for 2/3, but as you say gotta keep away from the doggy doos  Lovely greens in that shot

Re-Shoot - Angles 2 for me, again I would prefer more building and less sky, but the lines lead into the pic very nicely :)

Hi lynne
number one of the verticals for me lovely colour and exposure i also tried a vertical; pan not sure if mine worked either, i really like the shadow pic for angles

and what you have learnt today

Hiya Lynne

Love the ICM for vertical, it's not as easy as it looks is it? and it's the first angles for me, I'm just an abstract kind of a guy I suppose!

only 5 days till the new theme! :D

Good work all round Missus
I like the vertical pan, the abstract nature of it with the bright vivid colours come together well.
Reshoot angles, love it
I think you could push the contrast even more but thats minor.

lovely shot looking up into the tree - good job keeping the colour and detail in the shadows under the branches . Love the green of the leaves!

and the building for angles for me too, and I'd happily trade a bit of sky for a bit more of the building though.

Kind, takes me back to the 70's adverts as a child of course. Nice idea and well executed, could you have also done a bit of a selfie with just your hands and bubbles as that's the whole selling point being kind to your hands.

Vertical, I had a similar idea on my bike ride today but my thoughts were firmly on the Viaduct. Lovely lush green tones tis shame the sky peaking through wasn't blue.

The vertical pan looks like artwork for a Horror film in the woods ooooh Evil Dead.

There goes my first and second idea, doh. Still my tree probably won't have been as good. Great colours and texture.

cheers Matey...blew the sky a bit on the tree image..whoops !
Glad you like the vertcal pan ,thnk I needed a different f stop to get all the shadows sharp.....plenty of time to practice though

Thanks DK.....the lower part of the building was pants so decided not to include it..

Hi Brian....I've seen you post this several times now & I'm still stck as to what it means....ICM ???

Cheers Iain....quite like these vertical poans...thinking about doing more & mking a series of them

Thanks Graham....the lower part of the building was pants...mainly an open pair of full height doors so decided against it

Love the tree looking up, almost makes you dizzy.

It did indeed.....spent about an hour trying to find THE shot & was very dizy with a cricked neck by the time I got this one

Not agile enough to get my hands in shot...remote lead was fubarred :'(
never seen the Evil Dead as get scared real easily...I'm a wuss ya know

There goes my first and second idea, doh. Still my tree probably won't have been as good. Great colours and texture.

Thanks Nicky...post yours ,always good to see different tkaes on the themes with same shots

Love the tones in the canopy on Vertical, my eyes just follow the limbs around from one green to the next.

The second Angles reshoot is great. The symmetry, angles and the subtle interest in the sky works really well.

Well ,if my math is right we're almost 1/2 way there , don't time fly when you're having fun :woot:

So week 20 brings a fairly sensible theme ...only problem is knowing which shot to post....went out with a clear idea of what I wanted & ended up with it plus 1 other...plus another that I'm not going to post ....

My idea was patterns in nature so here goes ...if flickr behaves itself..having problems uploading tonight

Wk 20 Patterns by llj666, on Flickr

not entirely sure it's focused correctly, hand held in a breeze & then a heavy crop to get the angle I wanted...hey ho

This one I love...the patterns of a butterfly....

cheers for looking & appreciate all your comments....ttfn

OO err missus they are very good, really like the crop on the leaf and the flutterby is lovely. It looks sharp enough to me.

Eeekk, I did a leaf :D nice green and detail. Square crop works for me.

The butterfly is a cracker. Great detail, composition and DOF.

Cheers.

Butterfly gets my vote Lynne

Perfect, just perfect

Love that butterfly shot. Fantastic work Lynne.

Hi Lynne,

Both great shots, with lovely details.

lovely butterfly shot lynne - side on view showing off the patterns in the wing perfectly. Well done on the settings to get (just) enough DOF without compromising ISO or shutter speed.
Maybe a little tight at the bottom if I'm to be picky?? But great detail in the little hairs around the wing.

Hi Lynne
Butterfly is a superb image nice patterns as you say, excellent DoF and excellent focus on the butterfly

I'm going to have to comment in chunks, sorry. I'm on page 14, and really like Angle no 3; a really great shot.

Not sure about Rustic; the sepia tone seems to have removed any contrast, and made interpretation difficult, and there are weird horizontal streaks at the top (maybe that's the "border" some have been commenting on). (Actually a closer look shows that it is... and sorry, I really don't like it!) Also, the wall almost appears transparent as the shadows on it echo the stems behind. OTOH, it definitely is Rustic (and possibly deliberately so).

Kind: that works really well. I was looking for those bottles that used to say "kind to hands" but they don't seem to have that any more. Perhaps it's the "truth in advertising" laws! Vertical number 1 works really well too; didn't understand the pano, which seems to be just streaks. The re-shot angles aren't as arresting as your original no 3, IMHO. And well done to get those patterns on the butterfly in particular: it's hard to get the little blighters to stay still long enough, but that looks perfectly in focus!

Both work very well for me. I just love the simplicity of #1 though and the diagonal line. Very well seen and shot (how did you get that butterfly to stay so still?)

Cheers Andy....& for once I think I got the crop right :D

Cheers Iain....it's the 1st butterfly shot I'm really proud of..:)

Love that butterfly shot. Fantastic work Lynne.
