weekly Blondie606's 52 2013 Wk 52 Water-The End :-(

nice series of pics, number 1 looks impossible to do without falling off not sure which one maybe number 3 there is less distracting BG, and  for getting them in on theme ;)

Great bike shots there Lynne - looks like a good day for it too...

#1 is the pick for me, love the unusual (for a racetrack) background here. (if you straighten it to the vertical on the building, you get even more angle in the track and rider).

The rear rider in #3 looks positively pedestrian compared with the main one.

I prefer the third shot myself, but they are all good

It's a long time since I've been to Oulton. Looks like you had a lovely day out.

The Link to the theme is clearly obvious btw. You don't need to defend yourself!

Nutters, absolute nutters :gag:

Of the set, it's #1 for me. As you say, he's really straining to get the bike to lean. I wasn't sure about the BG, and did wonder why f13, but it's an added bonus to have him almost framed in the archway.

Cheers.

Nice set there Lynne. I prefer a controversial #3 because of all the angles all over the place. The sweeping lines through the image make it stronger. #1 is a great shot in capturing the moment, but the background is a tad too distracting. Demand a reshoot from a different POV!

Ian.

Hi lynne

Sorry but seem to have got behind on commenting on my favourite biker's shots. :(

Value - on theme and 2 good hands in their gaming context. Good colour and layout but not sure about the oof bit at bottom.

Greed - i always think that war memorials have a connection with greed - grabbing land or people or resources - and the poor b....ers who had to pay for it - so i get the theme connection wholly. Both good but prefer comp and contrast and clarity in #2

Angles - very good set. Dynamic (you have caught the sense of speed in all of them), colourful, very well composed. Any of them would be good for the theme but of them all I prefer#1 cos the angle of bike and rider is so acute and the grey tarmac adds to the reason why he is leaning . Then having the apparently non bike circuit background in a classical architectural style gives added interest.

Well done:thumbs:

Really like that first one, doesn't look like a track at all, which makes for a very interesting photo.

Angle...I usually visit Oulton for at least one of the BSB rounds and the BTCC round as well. The first is one of the classic Oulton shots and I always like to get a few from that position so that gets my  of the three.

Great series there Missus
All super sharp shots but #1 gets my vote, colours, composition, sense of movement all come together to make it.
No back story required for these, bang on theme and a great day out as well.

Cheers Iain....was a fab day..almost forgotten how much I enjoy watching the bikes go roundy roundy racing

Me likey.

#1 for me, how doesn't he fall off :D

Looks like you had the weather too.

Thanks...Nope , I don't understand either....something to do with centrifugal force so I'm told....I'm old school....no knee down for me..way to scary

fabulous shots of the bike racing, Lynne; nice to see the knee-down action being caught. I think I prefer #3 mind - but that might just be because I don;t have the balls to get my Yam over that far :)

Yup , you n me both...:D

Thanks graham.....I spent ages fiddling with the straighten tool.....obviously need to try again :bonk:...yeah think he was a back marker

Thanks for the catch up Alan ,glad you like the bike shots...was a great fun day in good weather

Aye....Oulton Park has some lovely interesting backdrops :)

Can't really add much other than #1 for me

Cheers Mister :)

Thanks Colt...been a few times but never to that spot....I'm now hooked & can't wait to go back with a small box or something to stand on just to get a bit more height...I'm such a short arse

& so to week 17....felt really happy when I saw the theme but still struggled...had a few idea's but couldn't find any farmers out ploughing so that was 1 down , no thatched cottages round here so that was 2 down.....settled for this...

Wk 17 Rustic by llj666, on Flickr

had a fancy for a play with textures & frames , not sure why , but I did  used the big tree as the vertical...really wanted to shot so I could see the whole of the path winding away but some inconsiderate so n so put a huge doggie poo bin just the other side of the entrance..way beyond my pp skill .not sure it screams Rustic but hey ho...onwards & upwards

Hello, it's all about interpretation

Well composed and processed. Good overall lighting.

I might have pulled back a tad with the border width.

Cheers and with each post the meet gets a week closer

On topic, I'm not keen on the border but that's a personal opinion, maybe as already said if it was a little less? Nice lighting and composition

Going to have to add another vote against the border, but that's a great photo otherwise. Very rustic and the processing really suits the subject and theme.

rustic to me says of the country, or just plain simple. Meets the theme for both of these.

Agree more of the path to lead you in would have worked, but there's still enough here to do just that.

the wall on the right hand side just blends in with the trees behind itself a little too much for me would be my only crit.....

Hi Lynne, its all been said about the border so I wont go on, nice sepia PP and certainly rustic

I vote a positive YES for the border, I think it looks good. It took me a while to work out which way the wall was going (a bit of an optical illusion!) perhaps some selective burning would help overcome that?

17 down - 35 to go!

Angle: Great images. LOVE bikes and like you forget how much i enjoy getting out to see them!

Rustic: Beautiful image, like the pp.

Angle #1 for me, as the unusual background gives it a little something extra... Having said that I'd be happy with either of the other two.

Rustic works well on theme for me, to the extent that I've got my shortlist processed in a similar way... to 'rustic' them up a bit. It has a bit of a nostalgic feel for me too, as it looks like the gate to the woods in the town I grew up in. Composition works well, and I don't mind the border to be honest.

Hi Lynne

Rustic :
Of, relating to, or typical of country life or country people.

Charmingly simple or unsophisticated.

Your shot seems to fit on both accounts for me. Good comp and like the desaturated treatment. Not sure about the border but I am working off a small screen at the moment. Like the wall as it looks almost ghostly as if overlaid - but again may be the small screen.

Hi there
Loving the 'rustic' shot. my only minor criticism is that the border seems a little heavy for such a dreamlike photo?

Hi Lynne
Rustic, certainly on theme for me.
I like the processing here, the sepia really lends itself to the subject.
The border is a little too bold I feel, maybe if it was lightened a bit

Onward and upward eh?

Hi,

I like the subject and the pov but would have liked to see it without the frame and processing too, I'm not a big fan of sepia.

Thanks Andy , was playing with a border from digital photography .....practice practice practice ! nearly June :woot:

Thanks Mark....marmite for the border then

Going to have to add another vote against the border, but that's a great photo otherwise. Very rustic and the processing really suits the subject and theme.

cheers...definitely a marmite border :D

Cheers Graham.....was having a play with all sorts of buttons on PSE so probably overdid it , added a texture as well as a border...just messing really so that possibly explains the blending of wall & tree's ?

Hi Lynne, its all been said about the border so I wont go on, nice sepia PP and certainly rustic

Cheers Allan.....was gonna steer clear of borders this year....should've stuck to that rule apparently

ooohh...Brian.. at least someone likes my border  I have no idea about burning......only just starting to learn PSE stuff...I'll add it to my list

Angle: Great images. LOVE bikes and like you forget how much i enjoy getting out to see them!

Thanks....yup , gotta love bikes in the sunshine & glad you like Rustic

Thanks Anita....border was a download from digital photo mag & couldn't seem to get it right..either too heavy of almost not there at all....I'll keep practicing :)

Thanks Iain...struggled with lightening the border..either as it is or so light you couldn't see it....I'll keep away from borders I think :D

Hi,

I like the subject and the pov but would have liked to see it without the frame and processing too, I'm not a big fan of sepia.

Thanks Colt.....tried a non sepia version but was just a little....hmmm ,boring ??? Hey ho , I'll try harder next week

I like the subject, the framing and the PP, not so keen on the border though.

Cheers Mister....the border has definitely proved to be marmite....

Wk 18...who came up with Kind :cuckoo:

Only had one thought & this was it.....

Kind to your skin.......

Wk 18 Kind jpeg by llj666, on Flickr

I know...anyone need to borrow my crowbar

10mins in the kitchen with carp lighting ,strategic use of a tea towel to keep the highlights to a minimum, quick play in pse to lose the pink () tinge & bring back some depth to the bubbles & here we are . Am thinking a black bg might have shown the bubbles better but wanted a sort of high keyish effect.

& Fairy is pants for bubbles

Hi, as I recall Kind was an integral part of the advertising for Fairy Liquid so on theme for me.

Well composed and good detail. I know the labels are what they are but you lot have given me OCD and their not aligned...nowt yu could do about that, though. Sme nice soft light would be good, but, I appreciate time is limited with you. You need more staff :D

Hope your trip to the NMA was fruitful.

Cheers.

Spot on theme.

I like the way the bubbles sort of frame the bottle but still stand out against the background.

Great Idea and I am impressed that you were able to make it interesting. Well done

Blokey comment - (what is it by the way )

Hi Lynne

I think thats fair enough for the theme, the crowbar has been out this week I used it myself :suspect:
I would maybe have tried a darker BG just to bring out the bubbles but its not what you were aiming for.

:cuckoo:I agree who is coming up with these themes

Fairy Platinum? Well la-de-dah, very fancy! :D

Nice idea though Lynne, and well put together. I think the bubbles blend into the background a bit too much on the right, but otherwise a solid product shot.

simple idea cracks tricky theme...

works well for me, nice and bright but still keeping detail in all the bright bubbly bits, good and sharp on the bottle, and the only bit I'm left wondering on is whether the top should be open or not.....

and if that's all I'm wondering about - it must be a good 'un!

Hi Lynne

Kind - on theme for me even tho the advert jingle was 'Now hands that do dishes can feel soft as your face with mild green fairy liquid' -but that old crowbar never gets chance to get rusty:D

Tough shot with that lighting and I wolud have chickened out and gone for the black b/g. Well handled - good bubbles, good colours and excellent sharpness. Good point made by Graham about the open top.

Good point made by Graham about the open top.

I'm just waiting for the parallel to be drawn between washing up liquid bottle caps,..... and toilet seats..
