blakester's 52 for 2010, Part 1

great shot Iain, there are so many shapes within this image it holds my imagination.

Cheers Chris, I hadn't thought of it in that way but now you mention it I can see what you mean:thumbs:

I like this people image. I used pictures of hands for my image this week & its great to see another similar idea with such a difference resulting image.

If you could PP the shadows then it would be even better!

Phil

Fantastic take on people! Thing that stood out for me is that every hand\arm has jewelry on, a nice touch which add dimension to it, IMHO!

Lovely idea, wonderful composition, I'd be chuffed with that.

Thanks Rob, I appreciate you looking and adding comments. Cheers:thumbs:

Thanks Dave, I am glad different people are seeing different things and giving their take on my image. Cheers:thumbs:

If we are seeing different things, that, to me, makes it a great pictures! Lots to see, lots to interpret

Hey, I loved this shot so much I had a go with my family too, its a really lovely idea and I like the shot you took. I also like it as Black n white :)

Thanks madmadam:thumbs: I am really pleased it inspired you to take one of your family, I'm chuffed! Cheers
Iain

Oh please post it in the forum, I've showed you mine, you show me yours;)

I can't believe I haven't seen this 52 before

Some really great shots  and a very clever take on people.

There are so many 52's Steve it's easy to miss some.
Thanks for looking in and commenting.

My eyes were going round and round trying to count hands

Me too!

Well thought out Iain. Are they teenage hands? If that's the case, I totally understand your frustration with your models. All my models do is scowl and grunt. They need both hands for texting anyway so I'd fail at getting this sort of shot.

I really like the idea behind the image. The only minor distraction is the shadows of the hands. Maybe dropping the background further away, or getting everyone outside on a cloudy day might work. I know very little about lighting though, so don't listen to me!

Nice image.

Ian.

Nice image.

Ian.

Two of them are teenage hands, the others belong to my wife and I.
It has been mentioned previously about the shadows and I may revisit this at some stage with a black background Ian.
I know less than you about lighting :D
Thanks for looking/commenting

That's very clever Ian, and I like the idea a lot. You know what might have worked... move the hands away from the background (than blast it with a flashgun or point a bright light at the background on the floor). So, put the background on the floor, and shoot with your arms at arm height.

Thanks for your suggestions John, much appreciated:thumbs:
As I mentioned above, two of my 'models', (teenage daughters:razz:) were giving me grief and dissent :D so I will have to revisit this at some stage.
Cheers

A clever idea that works really well. I agree about the comments on the shadows but they don't bother me very much - you could always claim that shadows are part of us, our alter ego, etc....;)

I really like this one Iain.
I don’t know how you came up with the idea for the composition but it works brilliantly. A perfect take on the theme and really nicely done. The B&W is spot on and I’m really fascinated by all the different pieces of jewellery. Did you ask them to put it on especially for the shot?

Very, very minor niggle is the shadow, I just wish that it was a touch less obvious. Certainly doesn’t detract from the shot too much though and it's a very good week for you.

Sarah, my daughters wore the jewellery especially for the photograph. Both pieces of jewellery worn (the bracelet & ring) are very significant and of sentimental value. My wife and I both wearing what we usually wear.
Thanks again for looking and commenting it is much appreciated.

A tough week this week to come up with a photograph to fit the theme of 'mechanical'. Well here is my take on the theme

Very very good (checks spelling) Certainly the most unique image of the week and apart from me wondering how it would look if everything was lit and exposed identically, I think it's a winner

Now I'm sure nobody has had the same idea as you this week ;). Great idea, nicely put together.

Darren thanks for your comments, I struggled for ideas this week but am glad I got something in on time. I can see where you are coming from on the exposure/lighting but I like the difference in each letter, it kinda defines them as opposed to all having the same background.

Scott, thanks for looking and commenting. I was stuck for ideas and this came in a moment of inspiration. Cheers:thumbs:

Dean, thanks to you too:thumbs:

Can't wait to see what you come up with during an easy week then! That is one bloomin excellent idea and execution! Top marks! Love it! Clever f******!

 @ Lee. Honestly, i thought this week was tough and my take on it might be seen as being a bit....you know...predictable. I am pleased to get this week out the way but hey nobody said it was going to be easy.

Very clever Ian... made me smile too... excellent work.

Thanks for the comments John, always appreciated.

Excellent - after you mentioned it the other day was wondering what it would look like.............

A fine collection of assorted instruments and implements!

I wasn't sure about my idea at first Lynton, I thought it'd be a bit naff but I am pleased with how it turned out.

As for the collection of tools, a mixture of mine from a former life as an engineer and my Dad's which I held onto after he passed away.

Thanks for looking/commenting

Awesome! Very nice and clever approach to the theme ;)

Thanks Dade, I had to rack my brain for an image, I am glad it seems to have been well received:)

Smart Ar5e comes to mind :)

Very good image for week 8.

Love the use of different tools to create the word.

My only downer is the lighting. If the background could have stayed the same then this image would have been a lot better for me.

Nice...now good luck for week 9 :)

thanks for looking.
On the subject of lighting, I can see where you are coming from but I like the way the background is different in each, it separates each letter:thumbs:

Great mechanical shot....I was gonna do the same until you stole me idea....haha, I wish, I'm not that imaginitive.

Well done

This was a last minute idea for me, glad you like it.

Cracking stuff mate.... Very clever idea!

Still need to come up with something for mine! :bonk:

Cheers Damien, I am sure something will come to you for an image, as I mentioned above, this was an eleventh hour idea for me.

Iain

Certainly the most interesting approach of the week! What a good idea, and well executed.

Good image with People Iain - works nicely.

Mechanical is great idea and well shot

Thanks for your comments Paul.
I am currently wracking my brain for a play image. I had an idea in mind but looked at some 52'ers who have already posted this weeks and one was exactly how I intended taking mine:bang:
I shouldn't look at others until I have posted my own, that'll teach me :D
