5 I can't post in classified and 3 how to shoot my mates wedding threads, and a couple of what bag threads ... probably :D

People were still hungover!

Actually, there should be the TalkPhotography drinking game:

1 shot for each "can't post in classifieds"
3 fingers for "shooting mate's wedding"

etc etc

Sorry for going off topic

According to the someone on the radio earlier, in the raid he grabbed on of his wives and tried hiding behind her. Not sure how true it is, but not how I would expect the leader of Al Quaeda to go down, having said that I suppose he was a coward.

It won't make the world a better place in fact I can see some bad times appearing. Think about it, if your leader that you worshipped was killed wouldn't you want revenge?

Yeah while it's good that he's finally dead I can see a few attacks on us in the coming months and with the 10 year anniversary of 9/11 coming up maybe that might trigger something to the extremists.

On the other hand who would want to step up to Bin Ladens spotlight, this has scared the extremists because who's willing to take the risk of leader of Al-Quaeda.

It's lucky the Royal wedding was last week because if it was this week or Bin Laden was killed last week then maybe there might have been an attempted terrorist attack at the wedding, perfect motive. Future leaders, crowds of people, big event, I could surely see that something would have came up.

Arrests at Sellafield.....

The muslim community in Luton have kicked off and some are saying he's still alive & are waiting for his video message to go online, and others are all angered that he shouldn't of died if he is indeed dead, can't believe they are still defending this lunatic that is twisting their religion for his own needs.

And before anyone says the VERY overused "stop reading the daily mail" my sister lives in luton and she witnessed the protests and gatherings today in the town centre

I've not seen or heard this but i would bet that the people that will be protesting would be the same group that were burning poppies or protesting against the British soldiers that were coming back from Afghanistan. These are idiots that claim to be muslims and that they are working for the islamic cause. I can guarantee you they are not and they are just idiots that dont represent the muslim community. They are the equivalent of the EDL and cant even get more than 30 people to show up in a demonstration. That is how much they are hated in the muslim community.

I think calling these guys "The muslim community" is a bit unfair to the muslim community as they represent a few hundred people - not the muslim community.

Your comment is the same as someone seeing the EDL or BNP protesting in Luton and saying the British community are protesting in Luton while we know very well that the EDL or BNP dont actually represent the majority of the British community.

I'm sure it will prove to be true - the whole thing was filmed so I doubt we're being mislead about the circumstances. I don't think the man was a coward, he originally fought with the mujahidin against the soviets in Afghanistan, and very bravely from all accounts. He went on to form an intense hatred for the US and their allies and he was diametrically opposed to everything we stand for. He'd have happily seen us all dead, make no mistake about that.

The fact that he used a human shield just shows the ruthlessness of the man and his disregard for the value of human life. He was a mad dog, twisting even his own religion to justify his acts of terrorism.

My sentiments, also.

without getting into a bnp/edl discussion here, I do know that the EDL keep getting tarred with the same brush as the BNP by the media yet they actually have many Black/chinese/asian members inside it, hardly a racist group to be honest when they are fighting to keep british culture and values, and prevent them from being pushed out and replaced to make everyone else happy. Can't really argue with that however a few bnp do infiltrate and stir up problems causing them to look bad.

With no escalation in terrorist atrocities?

That we know of..... ;)

Perhaps this is America's "Get out of Afghan Free" card? We've got Bin Laden so we can pull out now.

Well, as Frank Gardner has just reminded us on Radio 5, Afghanistan is more about the Taliban than Al-Q.

None of our political parties do, do they? When was the last time we had a government that 50+% of people able to vote voted for?

I didn't wish to infer that he wasn't dead, rather that he probably has been for some considerable time, however up until now there has been no political gain to be made (and in the case of the previous U.S. administration many billions of dollars to be lost in revenue for Halliburton) if the news of his demise was made public...

The whole episode strikes me as a "Thatcher's Falklands" attempt at boosting Obama's approval rating in time for the next election.

Having thought on this, there is no way that AQ would not have announced to the world that OBL had been killed or captured as it would have provided too much propaganja material for them to make the headlines, much like this is now.

Sorry Lawrie, but that's a slightly naive way to look at the workings of the American political system - if, say for example, the death had been announced soon after Obama came to power, that's 3 years for the jubilation to die down and for the public to begin refocussing on the state of the economy and all Obama's unfulfilled promises.

This way he goes into the 2012 Presidential race as the one who captured Bin Laden, more or less guaranteeing him re-election, which is something that was far from a certainty a few days ago.....

No, I am saying that the remaining members of AQ would be using it - either to promote attacking the US for capturing him, or as a call to arms because of his death. They would not have kept it quiet.

Nought to do with US politics, though I agree it is fortuatus (sp) timing for Barack.

So, just to clarify the Americans have killed the most wanted man in the world and then quickly disposed of his body by means of a burial at sea and conveniently for Obama at the point in time when his popularity rating with the US public was at an all time low and in the same week that the race for votes in the 2012 Presidential election start.

That'll just be a coincidence though......

There is zero chance he is still alive. If he were alive still he'd release a video saying so and there is no way that Obama could risk the egg on his face for an incident like that

He may still be alive. Just not free to make a video

all jokes asside, i am actually worried about who takes his place. I mean 3000 people in the world trade centre, all those killed and injured on the tube and not counting all the other attacks across europe. Whoever is assigned to fill osama's boots really needs to come up with something epic in order to surpass everything bin laden has achieved. Its actually quite terrifying to think what that could be, especially as whoever it is could simply just walk into any city with a nuke and boom, becoming wanted after the huge mushroom cloud doesn't bare thinking about

Because you're black, Chinese or Asian means you can't be racist? As grow and experience life over the years you'll start to realise that you can't believe everything you read on the internet / newspapers / leaflet.

Probably best to read the whole thread, before commenting....

Mmmmm! Well the Bush family along with Blair et al have certainly done a good job of killing several hundred thousands of people over the last few years.... and it's still going on by Cameron and Barack Osama..... and it will get worse ......

I nominate a coalition of Bush and Blair.
