'Best' small cameras? - resolved, thanks

They also have terrible software... horrible camera in most ways except base iso resolution.
I don’t find them too bad - they’re much better than the previous Sigmas. Agree about the software though. I just use it to convert the raw files to something that can be edited in a something better :) I did a direct comparison against a Hasselblad HD3-39 (which I sadly no longer have) and the Sigma was very close on resolution.

Yea I'm not going to be working at base iso often.. I don't do much landscape as that involves leaving the house.. i mean getting up early or planning light
Yep that’s not going to do it for you then! And I suspect anything m4/3rds would be a disappointment after the Q so that only really leaves the Sony. If it were me I’d stick with the Q :)

Lumix LX15 - fortunately i have a near brand new one for sale in the classify!

Maybe the latest sony RX100 is better but it's more expensive and actually the lx15 has a few good feature and video capabilities which are better that the sony!

What we need is a Sony A6 with a 35mm FF sensor inside it.
So the normal A6xxx body footprint but fully sealed magnesium body.

It’s a hard choice as the Sony RX100 is good but not APS-C IQ good, but then it’s a true pocket camera.

The Fuji X100 has so much appeal but it’s not exactly small.
If the Fuji X100 had zoom lens instead of fixed, I would have bought one..... the Fuji lens is soft at f2, so you need to use f4 to get the sharpness back.
I’m hoping the next X100 model moves the game on tbh.

It might be soft but its exquisite  imho ymmv ;)

I have five ‘non-DSLR’ cameras:

Leica XV.
Sony RX100V.
Sony RX1.
Nikon Coolpix A.
Ricoh GR.

The one I like best? The Nikon Coolpix A, the only decent compact Nikon have ever made and they discontinued it!

Never see them s/h,have often looked

what's the other angle and story?

x100f too big still i think, to use instead of A9
The RX1 range lens is massive. It may look small from the angle you showed. Its much bigger than the x100 range.

The x100f has a leaf shutter also. However I agree it is a little soft at f2

Doesn't leica have a smaller camera than the q?

There's the X-Vario but that's bigger than the RX1, "only" APS-C, and quite slow to AF. Produces nice results though...

Actually that's not a bad idea! The Hasselblad X1D can take your Leica M lenses with an adaptor :D

the 50mm 1.4 and M10 are in the process of being sold, only have the 35mm 1.4 left - on medium format it might be a bit wide i guess :)

I know, but that's not the point :) if I'm going to enjoy spending money, I don't want it to overlap with what I have :P

Although last time I thought about the X1D, I started to conclude that the A7R3 would be a better purchase due to the lenses i now have for the Sony e-mount.

But the thread title say's "Best Small Camera's" lol :D

Dont do it.... you have just spent what £13k on new Sony gear in 2 weeks. You have an M10 and lenses, you also have a Q. Buy a new or another house or something.

don't spend £2k (rx1r ii) on a camera (not about to buy the x1d just now), go buy a house

having just built an extension and home cinema, won't be moving for a while either

But ultimately you aren't filling the gap by buying all this gear every week as you don't seem happy enough with any of it, you have like 25k worth of gear you can't possibly use all at once. At least buying another house is a solid investment and you can work toward it.

Dont want to tell you what to do mate, its your money... just another option to get you maybe looking forward to something else.

It's ok, thank you Twist :) a voice of reason is appreciated.

Sometimes I think about buying a new car, but I had mine from new 64 plate, fully paid for and economical to run - it'll be a waste of thousands of pounds just to buy something a bit more lavish.. - so I've resisted that urge so far..

i'll wait until i'm ready to go electric i guess.

Mmmm or get a beast before all the "fun" is gone when electric is more mainstream....... I currently drive a Golf R..... awesome car! :D

Sure, kinda like spending £10s of thousands on camera gear ;)

if it's not the camera or the car, it'll be a new PC I don't need :D or hard drives to store all those excess photos I keep hold of ;)

Exactly, buy a house, that'll keep you saving a while. Put money away and retire early!

@dancook What about some really nice holidays, get to use your gear in different locations, maybe thats whats lacking... Inspiration, change of scenery and all that.

We're planning to stay in the UK this year and take Yuffie with us. But yes I should start planning my trip to japan.
