I'd be leery of getting foods off the evil bay ...
Its been years since I bought anything like that, but never had an issue TBH.
Obviously if you can source locally, you can see what you are getting though.

Thanks Paul
I wouldn't use evil bay been looking at a gourmet website (not sure if allow to name it) begins with Z

The probs we have had in the past were too many dead ones and really poor quality insects. I buy most my bulk live food from here http://www.livefoods.co.uk/index.php and they have always been decent, and a single beardie will get through a lot of food in a week, particularly when growing! Pets at Home are pretty decent though (surprisingly perhaps ...)

That's good to hear about pets at home that's were we are getting it from

My good lady wants another beardie and we may get one from there too - if you want or need some pointers on what to look for let me know.

ETA: They aren't necessarily the cheapest nor do they have the latest morphs but the animals I've seen have been healthy.

My ex mother in law was one

Sorry to hi-jack the thread but you bearded dragon guys seem like you may know the answer to my question

Which is, any idea where I could purchase a Tenrec?

I would do a google search for a good independent reptile dealer in your area, they can offer advice on looking after your dragon and as we have found with our snakes they look after them when we go on holiday for a small fee.

Bearded Dragon you say........

Well the mother-in-law eats a fairly standard diet! ;)

Don't know anything about the food you'll need but I have bought live mealworms from this place - http://www.livefoodsdirect.co.uk/ Quck delivery, reasonable price and the live stock in good condition.

Dave

I've got a gecko rather than a bearded dragon but the crickets that pets at home sell are fine also my local pet shop sells them
It's important to feed the crickets nutritious food before feeding to your reptile as crickets on their own are not very nutritious and dust them with calcuim supplement
This applies to geckos I imagine that bearded dragons are the same but I would get advice from the shop
Our local pets at home have a resident reptile expert

When the beardie is young, and they grow quickly, it is even more important to dust the crixs (or whatever food you feed them) otherwise they run the very real risk of MBD amongst other things. All food should be dusted at any age for beardies, even the veg.

I've bought live mealworms fairly often from http://livefoodsdirect.co.uk by mail and they have always been excellent. They sell a wide range of other live food.

update this is the dragon 3 months on
