Regardless of the BBC's findings he's still a nob of the highest order.

He's a an arrogant tw@t imo. Detest the man and that other two muppets on his show.

Clarkson knows exactly what he's saying. All the time. He may think he's being cheeky or funny but some of the things he says are highly offensive and not appropriate in this day and age.

Anyone who wastes air time with a programme like Top Gear is not harmless. ;)

In your opinions, others feel quite differently.

Are you paid by the BBC to put up links to their articles? ;)

Well not really defended. Final warning really, though they say he is not a racist, they think. The jury's out shall we say.

Top Gear brings in so much money for the BBC he'll get more chances than most, if this was a but part actor on EastEnders they'd have been out straight away.

For pity's sake give your drum a rest will you.

It's a fair response to a thread entitled BBC defend Clarkson, and is also, IMO, correct. Where do we get these drums you speak of? :)

Oh why are people so easily offended these days. It never used to be like this. Anything for a winge

Anyway, I think Topgear is great. A darn site better than that most of the other garbage on TV.

you mean programs like Eastenders. ;)

I am not paid, but I read BBC news.

I feel we have a PC contingent, I would express that everyone has a free speech right and whilst that doesn't include racism/libel, I doubt there was racism aimed in the episode but the lynch mob love to have a go and take offence at things that had no malice attached.

The BBC started Top Gear in 1977 - they should never have let any part of the rights go to outside companies or individuals. Link

I know you are not paid, I was merely jesting. :)

I've made my points on this on the other thread so no point going over old ground. Have a good day all.

yes, but isn't it the reason he is so funny and everyone except 4 people really like his shows? Political correctness makes me sick these days.

I have no time at all for leftie, pinko, PC doctrine. Effin hate it and if I was to express my true feelings regarding certain subjects I'd get lobbed off here for good.

I don't find Clarkson funny, entertaining or even very interesting. IMHO he is an overgrown, childish, boring old, middle class tw@t. Just my thoughts like!!

I don't mind Clarkson and I don't for one minute think he's actually a racist.

I've never been offended by anything he's said in the past but each to their own I guess.

As for Top Gear - I just take it for what it is. Harmless light hearted entertainment and general mucking about.

thats one slant to put on it ;)

Thats a sensible approach, I find it sometimes a bit banal, but its light harmed inoffensive TV. So many probably have a bee in their bonnet as it promotes cars/motoring and both these are taboo subjects due to the CO2/greens getting chippy, in my opinion.

He is childish but whats wrong with middle class? I find him amusing and funny for the childishness. IMHO of course.

Purely aside, its good to see a company stand by its employee.

..........................whats wrong with middle class?

Plenty:rolleyes: Must be my working class background and upbringing.

How open minded of you :D. Ever heard the phrase "inverted snobbery".

Yes I have, plenty of times and if that's what it is then that's what it is. I was brought up a certain way with certain principals, ethics and morals and I live by those. Don't have to justify myself to no-one tho if yeh don't like it suffer it. No skin off my @rse!!

exactly why people like his style.

The BBC effectively dumped TG in the early 00's.
It was Clarkson's re-pitch to the BBC that was responsible for it's re-launch.
He may be a berk, but he's a very shrewd berk.

I just know if I used the phrase "working class tw@t" I'd be lambasted to hell and back (remember the plebgate thing). I just find it curious to here phrases like "posh tw@t" and "middle class tw@t" not being met with the same derision.

I'll quote Orwell. Everyone is equal but some are more equal than others. Seems apt here and Clarkson being the victim.

That's debatable.

Either way, the show belonged to the BBC and they should retained 100% control of everything.

But it's not debatable really.
The BBC cancelled Top Gear in 2001.
Clarkson approached them in 2002 with a pitch for it to return in a new format, produced by his own production company for the BBC, and they went for it.
A great deal of BBC programming is produced for them by third party companies who are paid very handsomely.

Where's Viv with her Irony Meter when you need it?

Interesting - have you met them?

My son did a tv show with Richard Hammond. They filmed one in the morning, one show in the afternoon. Hammond went out of his way to explain what was going on, interact with the kids, and lark about with them also, which made the whole thing really enjoyable.

I've had the pleasure of being involved with one of the Toy shows that May worked on. He's a bit of a harmless nerd, but entertaining at time.

And I've been on top gear twice, and watching the interaction between the three of them it's more like mates down the pub Hammond is very media savy.

James May is my favourite of the three.

Exactly - the production companies are already well paid with our money. There is no reason to hand over any part of the rights to an existing BBC product, revamped format or not.
