Bath Night

I've not had a bath for about twenty years...

Once every blue moon here.. Its like a treat now :)

Stupid half bath here so no point even entertaining the idea of Bath, wine and book anymore

I took my book and a bottle of water.. ended up just enjoying the moment and not touching the book :)

My earliest memories would be a tin bath in front of the fire with pans of hot water brought in.. not sure I was the first in the bath either.. that was late 1950s... coal fire , no bathroom , outside loo... moved to a house with a bath for a few years.. then back to a house with no bath and I used to go to soul street baths in preston.. yes swimming baths but also proper baths.. rows of cubicles with massive big baths in them (or was i just small) this was late 60s to early 70s .you paid to have x amount of time in the bath.... then houses with baths up to maybe 15 or 20 years ago when i got a shower installed.. and now baths are a rare treat when i can be bothered :)

cannot stand baths and when we moved into our current house it was a disabled wet room conversion which I was overjoyed with but after about a year the wife's disappointment of not having a bath anymore got to me so I with sadness turned the awesome wet room back to a conventional bath room..:(

Usually shower but occasionally treat myself to what I call a bower - a long (several hot water top ups) soak in a piping hot bath followed by a long shower to get clean. Usually involves a crap book or movie.

I had my first shower on Sunday in a good few years. I only ever bathe.

We alternate every day between bath and shower: a shower is good for moving through quickly & washing hair, while a bath is great for relaxing and talking (or falling asleep) in. When I fitted our bathroom I was able to obtain a really large bath, and having adapted it for side taps it takes 2 in relative comfort.

My first bath took place in a kitchen sink, aged around 2 (and yes, I can remember it). I also remember the first shower I ever had (probably aged 4 or 5 at a campsite in West Wittering) where I never wanted to leave the lovely warm water, and had no idea there was a long queue of people waiting.

My first recollection of a bath was around the age of 2 as well. Kitchen sink as there was no bathroom; outside W/C which was downstairs, through the communal passage and in the back yard.
This would have been around late '59 or early '60.

My wife doesn't understand why I don't like baths.

On the odd occasion where I've over exerted myself (DIY, back garden sports etc) and I'm a bit achy she always comes out with "why don't you have a bath".

So the last time she suggested this course of action I ran a bath, got in and invited her to see what it's like for me to have a bath........... She quickly concurred that on reflection it isn't the nice relaxing experience she has due to there being nearly a foot difference in height and 5st in weight.

Having said that, when my 2 year old looks at me and says "Daddy bath" with a big smile on her face, I'm duty bound to get in although you can see her looking around at the lack of space she has to play in

You were an earlier adopter - mine wouldn't have been until '63. ;)

No idea when the bathroom was built in the house we shared with my Grandparents, but it would have been around that time (when I was 2-3ish) and the same time as the room was partitioned to make an indoor loo. There was an outdoor loo and a coal cellar area that was accessible from both inside (through the scullery) and out, with hot water being provided by the stove in the scullery.

Who can remember shouting "more hot in number 8 " in the public bath house , or sticking two Bob in the gas meter at home to have enough hot water for a bath ,seen some changes in my lifetime that's for sure

Showers when I'm on late shift. Baths at weekends when I'm on early shift. Showers aren't very soothing for psoriasis so looking forward to tomorrow when I get home early from a late shift for a soothing Dead Sea salt bath.

wow can't say also last time I had a bath.
nowt against baths but they never really seem to get you clean like a good shower and soap.

Showers rule for me but swmbo does like the tub.

Talk of times gone by reminds of the 1970's and the allocated bedroom and nearby bathroom when I was on night duty in the old hospital accommodation block. I have never before or since a bath so deep.......I am 5'10" and sitting in it the rim was level with my ears!! Talk about deep enough drown in as it was also long enough to lay down full stretch and slippery when wet....... :(

Did nothing but bath until I joined the Merchant Navy and then it was showers only to conserve water. Much preferred the shower to the bath and haven't used the bath much since. Main bath use was from 1979 to 1997 between October and March after doing an electrical inspection in a quarry or gravel pit. Despite wearing thermal clothing under the protective clothing the cold still seemed to penetrate and a hot bath when getting home seemed to be the only way of feeling really warm again

with a bath youre essentially wallowing in a pool of your own dirt. Showers all the way!

I never get that dirty, but if I do following a cross country run or something like that, I'll have a quick shower first, then a bath...I tend to walk into our shower afterwards as well to ensure the soap is all off as I've got sensitive skin....

I struggle to stay put in a bath long enough to enjoy it. Shower for me.

sometimes 3 a day, direct heat has always helped me as a means of pain relief, i currently use wheat bags but the condition im now suffering is helped by a 30 minute soak in a hot bath, on the occasional really bad day i can spend a couple of hours in the tub topping up with hot water
