Hi colin... lol.. love the second one.. glad i'm not the only one to post more than 1 image in a week... guess for me.. i love lego..so both of yours appeal to me.. :thumbs:

One more image in mind to complete the story but may will be th weekend before I can shoot it. Also managed (Ivthink) to take my original idea for "Empty" today, it's still in camera though so not sure if it will be ok or not. Again it will be the weekend before I can process and post it.
Just back home from a day out so a lot of shots to look through and process, but another day out planned tomorrow.

Hiya Colin,

Great to hear you have been getting out and about togging. This weather has been absolutely brilliant! I went out yesterday to a local skate park and got some amazing shots of the graffiti there, will post in a separate thread soon (once I have sorted through them and also finished taking advantage of the brilliant clear sky tonight for some star trails) ...... so many things to shoot and not enough time to do it all in. BTW was out earlier tonight taking more photos of the daff in the garden making use of the light from the setting sun, I think I have got some brill shots there too :D

OMG this 52 is going to really hot up now with all the fab light and weather, just hope the themes fit same :banana:

Managed to put together my original idea for empty. Could have been better but I've got a lot of other shots to go through so this will do.

Thanks Dawn. For this I had the tripod set up as stable as I could in the back of the car. First image taken with the car stationary. Exposure measured for inside the car. The second image was taken while my wife drove the car, again exposure set for inside but this time only so I had movement on the speedometer. Third image taken with exposure set for outside the car with a slow enough shutter speed to show some movement. Shots were taken with 10mm lens to show as much of the inside as possible.
Then a lot of messing around on the pc to get all the bits together for one image, including cloning the trees to give a hopefully realistic enough side window view.

Wow that was quite a project and well done a fav and very successful image. Thanks for sharing your setup with us too, much appreciated ..... might have to try that some time (but doubt my 6 year old will manage that so might have to recruit my friend to help)

When the week 15 theme came up as "wrong" this image was the fiirst I thought of. It just seemed wrong somehow. This is not my submission for this week though as the picture was taken on a day out last Thursday and therefore doesn't fit in my rules. I'm posting this now because I don't think I could orchestrate a reshoot and I think if I tried I may be arrested.

WOW .....is about all I can say for your Empty shot....stunning & so well done:clap:

Great set of shots with the Lego men...love the story with them :clap: Need to ask though as very envious of your perfect white backgrounds & clarity in the colors on the lego......HOW ?

& that is definately WRONG ! Animals /birds have no concept of WRONG I guess but that capture is spot on even if not taken specifically for the week...well spotted:)
 
Thanks very much Lynne, I presume the empty shot is my reshoot and not the original:D

The lego men were shot in my homemade light tent/box see this thread for more details and a setup shot.

I'm wishing I had kept quiet about when the bird shot was taken. Not had a chance to do a shot for this week yet. Two ideas going round in my head for this week one of which I know I won't be able to shoot but may cheat slightly to fit it in and the other I can shoot but think the idea is maybe better than the shot will be :thinking:

I may just claim that I gave the car shot ithe wrong title and it should have been my "wrong" shot. Or would that be wrong?

Once again the week is slipping by quickly and I've not had the opportunity to shoot either of the two ideas I had for this week. So rather than be late with a submission I came up with a back up plan this evening. I'm happy enough to submit this image for this week but if I do get the chance to shoot either of the other ideas before the weekend is out I will.

It's a dark image and a lot of the bottle detail/outline is simply not there. Obviously this will not be everyones cup of tea but I like it this way and if I'm wrong it's only fitting.

There are also a couple of harsh light reflections. This is down to inexperience with the set up. Yesterday I received a 24" softbox which I used in this shot. My idea being to aim the light towards the bottle and glass and use the shutter speed to lose the background completely. This part I managed to my satisfaction but my technique still needs work.

Anyway here is wrong.

AH! I see!
It is frilly. the leaf pattern on the glass is cut deep into the outside of the glass and the angle it's at is catching two of the cuts into it. If that makes sense :thinking:

Yep the glass looks like it is floating ..... not sure if that is what you were trying to achieve or my eyes just playing tricks on me :D

I thought this one may upset you Dawn, I remembered that Baileys was a favoured tipple of yours from a previous post.

The cuts are deeper at the bottom and it's just the way the glass has been positioned. More attention to detail is what i need to focus on. I'm getting there slowly.

All down to pp. In fact one thing I noticed after posting the image (another small detail I missed!) is that the darker/unlit side of the pouring Baileys is at the wrong side. What I should have done was mirrored that part as well as turning it upside down.:bang:

Camera was on tripod and remote release used while I poured. I mention this for Lynne's benefit as I have found an answer to a problem she had with her empty shot. That is to use a glass bottle not plastic. It doesn't stop you trying to squeeze the bottle instead of the remote but it doesn't move as muuch when you do :D
 
Hi, there, very nice idea and well executed.

My only issue, I'd like to see a bit more contrast between the bottle and the background.

I hope you caught the Bailey's......:lol:

Thanks Andy, I did consider trying other shots which were a bit more contrasty but to be honest one of the things I liked about this one was the lack of contrast. Most of the bottle is implied. There is no definite outline to the bottle and it's mostly the fact that we know the shape to expect that we fill it in.
As to catching the Baileys, i would have preferred it if it was in a glass with malibu and whisky.
