BarrySprout's 52 for 2011 Week 33. Record

If you have your 52 shots in one folder on flickr and display a slideshow it gives the option to share. if that makes no sense I blame the beer

Excellent take on the theme, but where is the ice? Baileys has to be over ice.
Then again, where would you put the ice?

As Andy said, I'd like a little bit of definition around the bottle, but what you have works.

Now tell me about this Malibu and Whisky, how did you stubble on that?

Hiya Collin,

Well done on this weeks theme.

And thanks too for the chuckle .... I needed that as it has been hell since I got home from my jollies, with so many problems .... talk about 'paradox'.

Anyway, nice to see someone being creative and 'thinking outside of the box' :D

Cheers

Dawn :)

Colin, your last two are excellant..like the blocks especially, the texture of the steps.

Kev

Thanks Kev, the blocks shot was three shots merged because I didn't have enough blocks for each step.

OOffff, Colin, your 1st paradox really messes with my mind...:nuts:

Thanks Andy, I can highly recommend viewing it on a smart phone which flips automatically. Just look at the picture and flip it, fun for hours!

Hi Colin

love your Paradox shot , made me chuckle at the thought of you doing a headstand to get the shot:lol:

& blow me down I've been staring at your reshoot shot for ages trying to figure out what it was a reshoot of....grown? grown? then I read the words :bang:  Love the colors , brill shot

Hi Colin, my head is spinning! What a great shot! Well done. I also like your reshoot, a cracking idea and you have photographed it well.

Thanks Michael

Lynne if you knew me the idea of me doing a headstand would be even funnier. Glad the reshoot got you thinking.

Wrong on so many level - I love it - very witty and really well shot with great colouring

My only critque is that it needs music...??

Kev

I can assure you laughing at work is less embarrassing than what I'm doing at the moment. Just taking a break just now letting some tourists clear away before I get my pineapple out again. Been getting some strange and concerned looks here.

Real shot should be up later today.

Sent from my ZTE-U V880 using TP Forums

Hiya Barry,

I had to laff at your dancing banana, place marking the spot for you photo. Now I am intrigued and can't wait to see this image.

Waiting with baited breath :D

Cheers

Dawn :)

Barry? first time you've made that mistake Dawn.
Back home now and pictures are downloading onto the other PC while I make a coffee.
Image up soon, probably. But perhaps not as exciting or intriguing as i have made it sound.

My apologies Colin,

 Indeed the first time I have made that mistake .... must have been the dancing banana :D

Either way I'm still looking forward to seeing this photo :D

Cheers

Dawn :)

No problem Dawn, I answer to Barry as well. In fact it's the name I give to authorities :D

OK real pictures this time. The second shot is my submission for the week but the first one is a kind of slow unveiling for it. My choice of subject this week was obvious as I live not far from this tremendous building.

The real pineapple looks as if it has been added in pp but it was there honest. It was sitting on the edge of the bench I was sat on when I posted earlier. There are quite a few people who could testify for me including a minibus full of French tourists. They all gave the man with the pineapple in his hand a wide berth!

The Dunmore pineapple was built as a folly by the Earl of Dunmore in 1761.
More info here.

More shots from my walk around Dunmore on Flickr here.

Hiya Colin,

Wow, well this was worth waiting for to see :D

That is brilliant .... and it almost looks like the real pineapple is an alien visitor from another planet hovering before the folly.

How kind of them at Dunmore Park to tend to the grass especially for you take the shot with some nice lead in lines :D Also, how lucky for you to have the lovely blue sky and wispy clouds to add to the shot

I like both photos, the first has a lovely DOF, whilst in the second pic one can see the pineapple shape of the building better.

Well done on both.

A very topical tropical indeed.

Cheers

Dawn :)

They literally did, I sat on the bench until he had cut the grass in front. I actually have shots from earlier in the morning before it was done. When I realised it was being cut and the way he was cutting it I knew it would be worth hanging around.

Thanks Dawn.

I've just uploaded a few more shots to Flickr here.
Going to get another coffee now and can get to look at others shots now. 17 weeks in and I still haven't peeked at anyone elses ideas before uploading mine!

Hiya Colin,

Talk about good timing then

I've just had a peek at the photos on Flickr, and they are brilliant. Well done

Cheers

You are welcome Colin ;)

I don't mind peeps following me on the internet as long as they leave a comment, even if only to say  so I know they have paid a visit :D

Thanks too for the comments both here and on Flickr.

Cheers

Brilliant tropical shots, and on theme

I prefer the #2 image as I'm partially sighted and couldn't work out the folly relationship to the pineapple :$ Love the vibrancy of the colours and they add to the tropical feel.

Thanks Tina, I know exactly what you mean about the firstt image. I only wanted to show that one as a lead in to the number two shot and realise that it couldn't stand on it's own for the theme nless everyone was totally familiar with the folly. I will also admit to a slight saturation boost as well as curves adjustment.

Hi Colin

what a beautiful building & another great idea from you on the theme, love both the shots

The floating effect of the pineapple is just great

Thanks Lynne, I'll also admit to a little cloning to get rid of a small part of the bench arm which was showing.

Had a great day and walk around the gardens and surrounding fields and got a few shots I'm quite chuffed with. Highly recommend a visit to anyone passing the area.

I can't make my mind up on these two. I love the DOF on the first one, but I like being able to see the pineapple shaped roof on the second.

Oh yes, lovely pic. From the mower lines in the grass leading to the building and then up to the pineapple roof and the beautiful blue sky above, it all leads the eye very easily. The floating pineapple is a great touch too. Sharp and vibrant photo, excellent shot.

Hey Colin,

Although it is nice to see the Dunmore Pineapple in all its foolish glory, my preference is on balance for the shallower DOF.

As for the 'photoshopped' look that others have commented on, I wonder if this is an optical illusion. We do not expect to see a pineapple in the photo and so our brains tell us that it must be fake in spite of the evidence to the contrary such as the lighting. I feel like the same happened with the globe in my Tropical shot - why would anyone take a globe down to the beach, therefore it must be layered in afterwards.

But I believe you without the need of the testimony of your French touristes. A well conceived photo opportunity that you have done justice to.

Thanks Mark, It really is a fantastic/strange building

Thanks Darren, I was very lucky that everything including the weather came together for me.

Thanks David, I also really like the shallow dof. But would it make sense to anyone without seeing the second image?
