Bargains Thread

£40 for those who need it posting. But still a good deal.

Just bought this, then noticed in another thread that it is expired 2012? Given the hassles I've had with my expired Ektachrome, have I made a mistake?? Plus I've bought a lot of 35mm and 120 from MacoDirect or whatever, so my tiny fridge is going to be even more overflowing! Now I've got to find something that really floats my boat to use this 120 on; struggling with the Autocord at the moment (but not giving up yet). Something with a meter on board and a good sharp lens... maybe a Fuji 645?

There is a note in the small print...
"The film's expiry date was 2012 (sic), but it has been kept in a professional film refrigerator and is still in great condition"

It should be fine.:)

I highly doubt it

and CC must highly doubt it too, for very obvious reasons

do we know what print options that offer has. 20x16 would be pushing it a bit :D but just wondering what youd get as a print. Good offer though, well spotted!

I dunno, you'll have to check the website, I'm not getting scans or prints, film and process is still a good deal..:)

I shot some Provia from the same batch (Fuji released a huge amount of 05-2012 expiry Provia 100, the batch that CC Imaging bought from) in the summer and it was absolutely fine.

I just thought it was a bit cheeky to leave it in the small print - when you buy expired film (which is basically what this offer is, just with some print/scan offer on top of that) it's always clearly stated, so why should it be any different now?

it doesn't say anywhere on the site but I guess it must be the smallest print size that they offer for the given format.

I dunno about cheeky, strictly speaking, maybe it ought to be mentioned on the splash page.
Peeps would still buy it even if it was.

Its Film, PROCESSING, scans and prints x 5 for £30

Are you sure your not just annoyed that it doesn't come with a Bladd to shoot it with....;)

Haha, I just find it odd because the first time they publicised it, they made it much clearer from the outset that it was expired film (and this was when it was barely expired, a couple of months expired maximum).

There are people, presumably, paying a few quid a roll for Vista! If I was less honest I'd get in on that particular scam too.

Well I've tried to set up Ebay search for bulk film for tens or hundreds, and they keep sending me these posts for one or 3 rolls h'mm and silly prices. But bargains do pop up as I got a tip off from some where (not so long ago) packets of Kodak gold from Greece......but the best deals were a few years ago with Packets of Fuj Superia 200, and won the bid for 100 @£33...also tipped the members off here about Reala film, a packet of 20 for £15 with free post and Mark the mod bought some at the same time.

The opposite to a bargain..it amazes me how these sellers try it on and it's just a shame that people don't know about Poundland film as they are also paying £2-£3 a roll for Kodak colorplus and Fuji C200.

Kodak gold 200 for £8.12...but free delivery

The price has gone up to £15.63 for Kodak gold by the same guy but you get 36exp this time

Leamington-Spa branch of London Camera Exchange have a couple of stack boxes full of odds and ends (film and digital, general items) apprently being cleared out. I didn't get a chance to have a good look as I had my young son in tow. However, there might be worth a look if you happen to be passing ?

Yesterday received my 5-pack of Provia 120 from CC Imaging. Expiry date 5/2012. Popped straight into the freezer.

Today I got notice of shipping my Macodirect order, so followed up the tracking number. It appears it's going to Kenilworth, not Edinburgh! Nothing's getting forwarded from there, so that may have gone for a Burton. :(

Can't you get a neighbour to pop in and forward it on?

Sadly the current occupant is not feeling kindly towards me... I did get to the point to day where DHL say that if Macodirect send them an email they will change the routing, but not on my say so. Two contact web pages and an email to Macodirect have so far produced no response. Can't blame them really as they have fulfilled there contract, I'm at fault, but a bit of customer service would help me a lot!

Mine came this morning. Amazing book and so much to look at. The picture on the last page of the sound recordings just rams home the madness of it all. They were still chucking bombs at each other in the last few seconds of it all. Crazy ****** up world.

In case anyone in Edinburgh is interested, I came back up Leith Walk with my new toys, and saw two more cameras inside the Leith Salerooms. A Nikon FG plus 50mm lens, I think this was "the small one" for £15, however I couldn't see anything through the viewfinder, so the mirror may be stuck up, and I couldn't work out how to get the lens off! There was an exposed film inside. I think the other set was "the big one" for £25, an OM-1 with an Oly 70-150 zoom, a Sunpak flash. and a Zuiko 500mm f/1.4 that looked quite nice. Looked in surprisingly good nick; I think the timer lever was a bit floppy... But I don't want a new system now...

The FG mirror will stay up with no batteries - a quick flick to M90 (the mechanical speed) should bring it down again. If the 50mm is clean and no scratches/fungus, it's worth it just for that optic alone - even the Series E version is a respectable lens.

I'd pick both up at those prices if they are in working order.... bargain for someone!

I'd happily pay £25 for the Zuiko 50mm f/1.4 on its own to use on the XP1. I've got the f/1.8 version and it gives great results plus it's small and light so ideal for travelling.

Shame I'm on completely the wrong side of town now. I'd have either.

Well if I get a chance tomorrow I might go down and see if they are still there...

If you do and you're happy to post it down, PM me (or have a chat or a yarn or start a conversation or whatever it's called now) and we'll sort out a deal plus I'll be like totally grateful and stuff, etc.

Bah, ninja'd! ;-)

If you can use the whole kit then by all means, be my guest. It'd be much easier for you and Chris to sort that out as you're in the same town after all. I only want the 50mm and that's because I'm greedy, not because I really need another 50mm lens. :)

At the risk of falling foul of the the mods can have 3rd dibs on everything please as I don't have quite enough cameras in my collection.
