Bargains Thread

Well I bought 40 rolls of OOD Kodak gold 100asa from Greece for 65 USD with free postage...just got the results back and it's good film.

Asda dev and scanned and further adjustments in PS for spots, gamma and too much green tut tut well she did say she was on her own today and busy. :(

Blimey Brian, 40 rolls, that may just have saved the Greek economy.:D

For the brave among us Rocky Cameras have their 40% discount sale on at the moment. I've been good and resisted buying a few accessories that I actually have no need for .

Oh God, what have I done? I thought I'd just have a little look, what's the worst that could happen?

There should be a parcel on the way to me next week with some goodies.

i just spent 75 quid there :(
raglan did my pm i sent u a few days, did the link work?

bought a ton of filters, beam splitter 3d thing, and a adaptall lens :)

i was tempted to get a 135 2.8 and a 200mm 3.5, but you cant tell what make they are from the pics, so chances of em being good :\ and i dont need em

Yes Paul, the links worked it's quite hard to tell if it's an issue on those ** shots, I think they're only likely to show up if you're shooting into the sun and getting some lens flare.

it does that washed out look pretty much all the time :-), so that's what effect ud likely get if you used that yashica

Not my sale but I've just seen this on Gumtree for £90 in Pudsey (Leeds);

I've just bought a Yashica Mat myself otherwise I'd have been tempted as it looks tidy.

Cheers
Steve

I think there is a general agreement that Acros 100 performs extremly well, I have been looking for a purchase at a reasonable price on the bay the dates are so OOD at the price, it is just not worth the risk and in date film for 35mm is like circa £8.00 a roll, until I found this.

In date 5 rolls total inc delivery £26.00, bargain in my book and have ordered.

I wasn't that convinced about Acros until I developed it in HC110. Now I think it's my second favourite go to sunny weather film behind the ubiquitous FP4 :)

My latest offerings in the show us thread were shot on it.

Item removed

Wanted to stock up on Agfa Precisa 100 slide film and AG Photographic (where I got it last time) are out of stock unfortunately.

However I did a bit of digging and discovered that Amazon sell the 10 pack of it for about the same price AG charge (only with free delivery). It's great film at a great price so I think this deserves a mention on the bargains thread!

Haven't previously noticed Amazon as a cheap source of film (other than through resellers - this is direct from them):

Hmmm, Soprendo, I am SO tempted... but I'd better get through a bit more of my expired Ektachrome before buying more Precisa (which I really liked)....

7 day shop are selling Velvia 50 35mm at around £7.00 a go depending on quantity, Jan 2014 dated. Bargain.

For slide, that's still pretty damn cheap for 35mm

Especially since the internet seems to conclude it's definitely either Provia 100, or a very near equivalent of Provia 100. E6 is only going to continue to fade away, so buy now and shoot away! (summer/autumn on slide is the best opportunity!)

for another 10p they have some Rollei Retro 400

Its more likely the same stuff as Rollei 400S: Agfa-Geveant (the aero-film division that Agfa spun off before its collapse, you can see they make it on the picture) make that stuff and sell uncut to Rollei who cut it down so its likely rebranded that.

As far as I know despite them saying for a couple of years that APX400 is coming back, its not yet.

For 10p I'd take the Rollei vs the unknown, unless the unknown is AGFA.

On firstcalls site, on the listing for Rollei Retro 400 at the bottom it says

Rollei Retro 400 is equivalent in characteristics to Agfa APX 400 B&W film.

....why can't they just stop arseing about and tell what is what...lol

Saw this tweet recently from West End Cameras in London:

Hope that helps!

(B&W ISO400 is quite a crowded sector... I wonder how well it will do)

Its labelled as 400S and clearly has an Agfa logo on it (as well as saying its manufactured by Agfa-Geveant on the roll in the picture)

Thats interesting and I hope it does come out soon as I quite liked the APX100 when I tried it so hopefully the 400 will be good as well (although it would be nice to try the upgraded Adox Pan 400 version of it as well if they ever actually manage to get it out). I agree that the ISO 400 market is crowded (I've settled on Tri-X or TMAX for my usual one) but perhaps there might be a bit of a nostalgia factor as well? Thinking about it the ISO 100/125 market is just as or even more crowded.

You've looked at my photos and think I can't see, haven't you.....lol

FirstCall say its they're film and make no mention of AGFA despite what it says on the can.
You'd think they'd want us to know unquestionably it was AGFA, they do say its made in Germany so I'd be surprised if it wasn't, but who knows for sure.
I'd like to see what the label says on a roll of FirstCall 400s bought from the website..:)

I'll upload and post the photographic proof when can but I have several tins of Rollei Retro 100 with the words "Made as APX100 by Agfa/Germany" on the front.

Picked up 10 rolls of Poundland Agfa from Woking's shop last week - seems they've got a bit left!

Just in case you don't studiously read every thread and might be in the market for a cheap disposable camera with the option of panorama...

That's not bad..

"If the Panorama function is left on you get 15 pictures or 27 in normal mode"

so its not just a cropped 35mm frame, which they often are, 10 x 4 when printed..

Three weeks ago I picked up a bargain:- Epson A3, 2100 colour printer plus 3 cartridges and all attachments and manual......for 20 pence. Well I though it was 20p down the drain :( as all the leds were flashing red...h'mm cured that and ran "clean heads" and now it does VG A4 prints.
Ink is cheap as 8 cartridges (that it uses) will cost £9 delivered from Choice.
