Seeing as it's now that time of year where us hairy chested blokes like to get outside and cook bits of meat over naked flames, I thought it might be interesting to start a thread to find out who prefers what method of barbequing, gas or coal. I apologise if this has been done before.
Personally and after several years of experimenting, I have settled on coals on a kettle drum. I believe the taste is better and I feel it is a more relaxed way of cooking.
So lets hear everyones preference and why and also if you have any hints or tips to share it might be nice to hear those as well. I have attached a poll to this as well.

aah Alan, but the waiting for the wood burn down to coals adds to the 'ambience' of the occasion! As you say, marinated meat does usually eat well which is why I spend alot of time in preparing it.
