Firstly, to Fracster and Toonamp.

Cheers for asking after me during my enforced absence guys:thumbs::thumbs:. It's nice to be liked/appreciated.

The story is, having finished on the Forum for the evening I went to bed on Sunday night. Got up to go to work on Monday morning, tried to log on and was met with this message.

"You have been banned for the following reason:
personal abuse can't be tolerated
Date the ban will be lifted: 01-09-2008, 22:00
"

So a 24 hour ban. No warning was given or any request to remove the offending post/s nor has there been any explaination as to which specific comment/s were deemed to be 'personally abusive' (though I have a good idea). I have looked to see what I thought the offending post was and it was still there:shrug:

I best be careful about naming the person I slagged off but suffice to say there were a number of other members on Sunday taking the p*** out of him and some very senior members posting replies openly showing they though these comments were funny. None of these incurred a ban (I'm not advocating they should have). I must admit I found alot of the comments funny, very sarcastic and ironic, all of which appeals to my sense of humour.

Yeh, I made comments in hindsight I should not have but such as I am, I spoke my mind and though I regret being banned, I don't regret saying what I did and it still is an opinion I hold.

I accept my ban and the reason for it, though as I said an explaination would have been nice or even a warning and/or request to remove the comments or to cease from posting similar in the future.

It would have been very easy for me to say f*** it and stuff the Forum but I hope I am bigger than that (see. signature for ethos). If I have done wrong and been caught out, I'll take the kick in the nuts for it, as has been the case here. Throughout my life I have got into all sorts of strife for speaking my mind and sometimes I do regret it but that's just the way I am and won't change.

I really enjoy the Forum, and don't intend to get banned again. I will strive to refrain from posting such comments (difficult as it may be on occasions) in the future.

Suffice to say in conclusion - LESSON LEARNED.

This subject is under discussion at the moment in the staff room

The post in question was removed at the time of the ban.....our suggestion is that your either looking at a post in your cache or a different post to that which broke the rules.....so we can ban you again :D

I'm glad you admit you were in the wrong though to abuse other members :)

Re the reason given for the ban, it was in the message you saw (and posted above) when you tried to log on...maybe next time we'll come round and hand deliver it on a velvet cushion for you :D

Regards

Regards Mark.

there was no point in me saying the same thing as the failure, so i edited it.

Nah, you can forget the velvet cusion but it emphasises my point. I had obviously mistaken the offending post because the one I thought it was is still there (wasn't looking in cache or anything) so an explaination as to which one it was would have clarified it for me.

Nice to see the sarcasam from you and those who cannot type fast enough though:o It appeals to my sense of humour right enough:thumbs:

Yeh, I suppose but I didn't get that name (I didn't choose it for myself) for being a choir boy, that's for sure;)

As staff, we have the right to edit posts and dismiss users without reason if we so wish. But I do see your point about clarity of the actions, However time is of the greatest importance to us all in this life and closing down and offending situation is the biggest priority as fighting the fires later on is a bigger job and it keeps us away from the drinks cabinet.....except Matty....he goes off to watch the Emmerdale repeats while muttering something to do with sheep and a velcro suit

Back in the good old days, Marcel used to come round and break your knee-caps for a first offence :bat:

Was that for international members too?

Must have entailed a good bit of travelling;)

Probably a good chance to get some international togging done for nowt - a quick kosh round the legs of the offending person, then 2 days togging the Taj Mahal courtesy of TP!! ;) :D

:coat:

The old ones were great, these new whippersnappers, well..........;)

I dont know if this is the right place or if im out of order asking, but i had a run in with a nasty piece of work by PM a few week ago ive just learned that he/she has been banned any one know what for the member was rileydog or something:)

Members are not banned on a whim, the reasons for their dismissal from TP forums are between TP and the member in question. They are not a point of discussion.

Well ive just found the reason of another member and if its true i think every member should be privy to that sort of behaviour to keep them on there toes:(
