Firstly, to Fracster and Toonamp.
Cheers for asking after me during my enforced absence guys
. It's nice to be liked/appreciated.
The story is, having finished on the Forum for the evening I went to bed on Sunday night. Got up to go to work on Monday morning, tried to log on and was met with this message.
"You have been banned for the following reason:
personal abuse can't be tolerated
Date the ban will be lifted: 01-09-2008, 22:00
"
So a 24 hour ban. No warning was given or any request to remove the offending post/s nor has there been any explaination as to which specific comment/s were deemed to be 'personally abusive' (though I have a good idea). I have looked to see what I thought the offending post was and it was still there:shrug:
I best be careful about naming the person I slagged off but suffice to say there were a number of other members on Sunday taking the p*** out of him and some very senior members posting replies openly showing they though these comments were funny. None of these incurred a ban (I'm not advocating they should have). I must admit I found alot of the comments funny, very sarcastic and ironic, all of which appeals to my sense of humour.
Yeh, I made comments in hindsight I should not have but such as I am, I spoke my mind and though I regret being banned, I don't regret saying what I did and it still is an opinion I hold.
I accept my ban and the reason for it, though as I said an explaination would have been nice or even a warning and/or request to remove the comments or to cease from posting similar in the future.
It would have been very easy for me to say f*** it and stuff the Forum but I hope I am bigger than that (see. signature for ethos). If I have done wrong and been caught out, I'll take the kick in the nuts for it, as has been the case here. Throughout my life I have got into all sorts of strife for speaking my mind and sometimes I do regret it but that's just the way I am and won't change.
I really enjoy the Forum, and don't intend to get banned again. I will strive to refrain from posting such comments (difficult as it may be on occasions) in the future.
Suffice to say in conclusion - LESSON LEARNED.
