Baked Beans?

We were brought up on HP baked beans, as they were the only gluten free baked beans available and my brother has severe coeliac disease.
Prefer Branston myself these days.

Depends what with for me. I do like hot pudding and cold custard.

Nooooo!!!! :runaway:
Has to be hot [instert fruit here] crumble and piping hot custard.
Ice cream, however, is acceptable. :-)

Love cream, ice cream and custard on my desserts. Though we were poor and we were brought up on condensed milk instead. :(

When I were a lad we used to dream of having condensed milk.

Dave

Heinz beans. These days, we have them as an occasional treat since they are so stuffed with sugar and salt - that's what makes 'em taste so good! We also now go for the 5 bean mix rather than the straight haricots. Oddly, Sainsbury's Basics normal beans taste the same as Heinz but in a bit more sauce - we boil them down a bit to thicken it up.

As for pies/puddings and custard, as an extra treat, I love blackberry and apple crumble (muesli/oat based crumble) with hot custard AND a scoop of ice cream (vanilla). As with the bean sauce, not the healthy option but as an occasional treat it's hard to beat!

I don't like Heinz beans. I much prefer the Tesco value beans for some reason.

Steve.

Remember Carnation evaporated milk?

Use it all the time on my cereal.

Really? I haven't had carnation in years.
Making me wonder what my tastebuds would make of it now :-)

Yeh, it's still out there.

I like baked beans myself and I even like the little 'sausages' that come in the tin although I can't remember the last time I had them.

Not keen on Carnation, I remember years ago my brother serving it in my tea!

three bits of toast ,tin of bake beans ,large tub of it might be butter but its probably synthetic petrol based yellow stuff ,apply beans to toast .slap on lots of the the yellow stuff to grease your gullet ,finish off by licking the plate .

the outcome of this procedure if taken at the right time of day is that when you go to bed you can guarantee a good nights sleeps as the wife will either end up in the spare room or on the sofa after the first two FARTS :banana::banana::banana:

I suspect I might receive a ban for this:

Scotch pie and beans

Remove the "top" of the pie, eat the "meat," fill the pie casing with the beans, get stuck in.

Guilty pleasures...

Eggs, chips sausage and beans, Lurverly has to be Heinz though,
the one and only, the others are just pretenders to the throne.

BB on / with 2 slices of toast, one slice for the beans to sit on, the other slice to mop up the juice with.

The ones with the "little sausages" don't taste anywhere near as nice as they did though, years ago.

Actually it wasn't condensed milk. It was this. Half-red half-white label. This is what we used to pour on our puddings.

My parents used to get this but mainly tinned fruit and tip top :gag:

Yup remember tiptop as well. As a treat we would have the tinned puddings that you boil and it would be served with carnation.

Yep that's right.. Then we got a microwave and my mum went through a making suet pud phase. We all burnt our mouths on the jam lol

That aside....

Has to be Heinz.

Daddies brown sauce - no other brown sauce.

Grated strong Cheddar cheese.

Not keen on the cheese, (on beans)
but I concur whole heartedly on the other two points

 Why on earth would you put brown sauce with beans?
They already come in (too much) tomato sauce.
Well its obvious, thats the reason you don't add more tomato sauce :)
:D

Nothing is better than that synthetic, petrol based crap, so I'd rather have nothing on my toast that that stuff! IF I feel the need for a spreading of a fat on toast, it's butter or the afore mentioned nothing for me.

:D

BUT, tomato dipped in ketchup is pretty damned good - far more tomato in ketchup than there is in a tomato.
