Could I please have some recommendations for a backpack that will take a Canon 1D with Canon 300mm f2.8 attached, plus a bit of extra room for convertors and a few other bits & pieces.
Thanks - Simon.
Thanks for the suggestions. Has anyone had any experience with my set up and a Lowepro Flipside 300?
Just to add I guess my combo with 1.4x or 2x convertors attached would fit in the Think Tank Street Walker Pro as it's designed to take up to a 400mm f2.8?
I can get the 300/2.8 + 7D + 2x tc (with hood reversed) in the Lowepro Mini Trekker AW - its a tight fit though.Just to add I guess my combo with 1.4x or 2x convertors attached would fit in the Think Tank Street Walker Pro as it's designed to take up to a 400mm f2.8?
There you go Simon, like I said it is tight. To be quite honest if I were buying a new bag for the 300 I would buy one that would take it with the hood in the shooting position as I find it a pain in the butt to put on/off. I transport my combo in a holdall in the car (with hood in shooting position) and then carry with a R strap or on the tripod, only using the backpack in case of rain so it suits my purpose. Thanks Roy. Perhaps I shouldn't discount the Mini Trekker then? Sorry to be a pain, but is there any chance you could post a picture with the body/2x convertor/lens in the bag so I can get an idea of exactly how tight it is.
Thanks - Simon.
I have already given you the figure with the 7D + 2x both with and without hood in shooting position Simon (see my earlier post #15) the difference between the 1D and 7D on the depth cannot be much., so am unable to measure the 1D, 300mm f2.8 with hood in shooting position, plus the 2x Convertor fitted (to give the maximum length needed). Can anyone help?
Thanks again
Simon.
With regard to the mini trekker - are you planning on doing much distance?
I don't rate that bag as one to have to walk far with it strapped to your back.
F Stop Loka gets my vote. Pricey, but fantastic.
