Talk about popular! Had a quick glance at the 'todays visitors' section and over 1500 visitors!
I remember when we struggled to get to double-digits!
Also not many familiar names here by the look of it...plus I see some have left the Sceptered Isle for Maple Syrup-Land...

Anyway, for those that do remember me, I'm posted back to UK next month and will hopefully have more time on my hands to get re-aquainted with you all...
We're ditching the D2x bodies in favour of D3's at last and I should have a brand-new suite of lenses and ancillaries to go with them when I take up my new post.
I'll be off to Afghan in the Autumn, so watch out for some (hopefully) decent images.

I've spent most of my time in Germany working on the cars in my spare time (the minor roads here are superb for 'sprited' driving as the traffic is far less than the UK) and the Mustang is almost the way I want it for the time being - a supercharger may be an option this time next year after the Tour...

welcome back
glad to hear you survived the last tour - long may it continue!

oh yeah and everyone's post count is bigger than mine now!!!

Cheers mate!

Good to see you back again! We still haven't seen any pics of the Mustang so get some on here, from your post I presume you've been tweaking it. :naughty: How much power will the 'charger add?

I was wondering what you were upto the other day and if you were away on a job somewhere. Glad to see you're alive now get some bloody pics up.

The Green-Moose has a normally-aspirated 4.6 V8 (320 bhp) for now but with a BamaChips tune added for a bit more 'oomph'.
I also swapped out the stock bouncy-castle suspension for a full race-spec kit from the USA - Eibach springs, Koni Dampers, Hotchkis sway-bars a UMI Panhard Bar (may swap that for a Fays2 Watts link sometime in the future) and Steeda strut mounts...
I'm looking hard at the Edelbrock E-Force charger which will put it up to about 485 BHP with 6lbs of boost - it's rated to 700bhp, so lots more on tap if I decide to rebuild the engine internals...

Pic taken on the day I collected it with the "4x4" stock suspension - it sits about 2" lower now...

Nice car too :)

RLC Photographer with 7 Armd Bde - just got back from TELIC12 - now posted to 11 Bde (aldershot) next month prior to HERRICK, then back here to Germany for Resettlement and out...:woot:

23 years, Baby!

chuffin' 'ell!

Freakin' VENG, I'll be in til I'm 50!

Nice car Rob :) probably even goes round corners now you have changed the suspension too :)

It was bad...I mean I knew it wasn't going to be great, but I was shocked at how bad it was to drive, even in a straight line...it was so flollopy that I felt sea-sick at anything over 90mph...it sort of...wallowed...

Now after only $2300 worth of components, it will keep up with M3's going round the Nurnbergring...there aren't enough long straights for them to get away and most Bimmer drivers here don't know how to properly use the i-Drive to their best advantage - I did get taken down by an Opel Manta though...:suspect:
Manta's have a cult following over here and some are seriously modded - this one was rated at over 700bhp!

I'd like to be a photographer in the army, but they're not listing the job on the army jobs site :(

You have to do a minimum of 5 years service in teeth arms before transferring to RLC mainstream...typically you'd be doing COP or Recce first and get head-hunted by one of us...part of my job is scouting from the ranks of Unit Photographers...
It's easier to teach a soldier to be a photographer than it is to teach a photographer to soldier - you need years to develop the kind of situational awareness that will keep you safe on deployment...
The Unit Phot's job is usually given to the bloke who has the best camera - no training, no support, just get on with it - and do all your normal duties...if you can put up with all that and still manage to get good shots, that's when I or one of my colleagues comes and has a chat with you...

I'm our unit tog...not teeth arm though (far from it, we're a band!) and they gave me (or tried to!) a crappy P&S...I said no thanks!

Interesting. I was trained in various things by my best friend who served with the US Army for 18 years as a medic. He got out in October. But I've no combat experience, given that I'm not in the military. But it is an option I'd like to pursue and I'm still only 28. Shall do some research. I've got a lot of favs on flickr from various military photography. I think it's outstanding for various reasons not solely restricted to photographic reasons.

Also, I hope my ignorance on display in these two posts doesn't belittle the job you guys do. I look up to people like yourself.

At least you should get some nice shots of Fin being fired from time to time - I've been out with the Scots Dogs countless times on the ranges and never, ever managed to get the bloody muzzle flash...troopers come up to me with their P&S and go "look it's easy..."
Apparently the barrel 'dips' slightly prior to firing, as the stabilisation gyro steadies, but I never see it...

Funny Funkers...

I wouldn't - I'm overweight, grumpy and cantankerous...I pay more attention to my car than my girlfreind and I like Belgian Porn...

I'm a horrible Human Being...

And I'm just a bandy!

Can't say I like Belgian porn though...

Quite similar to me then, apart from the Belgian pr0n thing. I like Belgian waffles.

Now we're talking - waffles with hot cherries in syrup with ice cream and whipped cream on top...mmm

I had a reputation for being blunt to the point of insulting when it came to bad images being posted in the 'advanced' section - if people put happy snaps in the happy-snaps section, I'd leave well alone, but if someone put them up for us to rip, then they shouldn't be surprised if that's what happens...if your images are bad, you won't improve by people here saying how lovely they are...

One person quit after I told him his pride and joy was back-focussed!
