Coming home from work was hard, no 4 legged mate to jump up and greet.... Handling it well?... Not at all![]()
Thanks Colin and Daryl look at it as good news as progress is being made.. Find the cause will mean finding the solution... Best wishes.

That's one of the hardest parts.
After our 2nd dog went we swore that we'd never do it again . . . it's just too painful when you have to say goodbye to them.
But the house wasn't the same without a dog and walking into an empty house after work was terrible . . . We ended up getting another rescue dog 6 weeks after we lost Ebony.
She'll never replace either of the two that we lost, but she's her own character and loved just as much for being who she is.
Awww Martyn. I just got home from work, and as promised, hubs has placed "all things dog" in the loft. Just couldn't keep looking at the empty bed![]()
Sarah we've said we'll rescue another dog, but want to wait until the warmer weather. We'll see how long that lasts.
I asked my husband to put her bed and toys etc in the loft whilst I was at work...Just looking that the bed was making me cry. Now the damn lounge looks too big, and the dining room no longer looks like there was a toddler in the house (she has a lot of toys!). I missed her big slobbery welcome home.
I just miss her. :'
I rearranged the living room after Ebony died.
Couldn't stand walking into the room and looking at "her spot" on the sofa and expecting to see her there
You won't regret it.
Both of you need time to grieve for the ones you've lost, but when the time's right there's nothing more rewarding than giving a home to a dog in need of one.
it also deals with that awful empty feeling the house has when som, ething isnt there anymore.
I'm sure i'm going to be an emotional wreck when my current dog goes (not for many years yet, touch wood) as she goes pretty much everywhere with me including to work.
Incidentally my last dog was a cavalier - we wound up having to put him down age about 12 when he starting throwing up blood, as i recall I was fine in the vets office, then sat in the car outside and sobbed my heart out.
its not ridiculous at all - when somethig you love goes you feel bereaved. People who say its 'only a dog' are missing the whole point , the love you feel for a furry freind is often as deep as you could for a human freind, if not deeper because animals rarely disapoint as people can.
Sarah, if Maryn's OK with it, I'm happy for the 2 threads to be merged. I know some folk aren't interested (of course they're not), but talking really helps I find, and might be an idea to keep it all in one place? Just an idea.
Happy to do that as long as Martyn's OK with it.
The alternative is to start a new "missing good friends" thread and leave these two as they are.
I'll go along with whatever the two of you decide, since you're the the ones mainly affected by it.
Fine with me Ruth and Sarah, maybe will help anyone in the future who has the same to go through, talking about it and the kind and supportive replies have been a great help to me
Done
Some of the posts may seem to be in a strange order now, but I think the sense of it is still there.
It's an awful thing to go through, so I'm glad that having somewhere to post is helping you both.
Ruth not sure you like these dogs.
They don't shed hair. Never smell when wet.... They smell like Shortbread.

Good with kids. Because they look like Tin Tins dog. Snowy. Good with big humans..... Always interested in what you are doing and eating....

If a non shedding dog is preferable don't fall in love with a cavalier if one comes along.
Oh I know about shedding dogs. Shall we say 'bits' of Chloe are still making themselves apparent in the house. She shed tons
*Edit* I won't care really if the next one sheds or not tbh.
This was Betty's first litter.
This is their first day at Puppy school.
